Eternal Security

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us
from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No one can separate us nor anything can separate a believe from Christ according to Paul above.
I memorized that passage and it is a promise I believe. And God is not a man that He should lie. I take Gods word for what it says in Romans 8.

op: Eternal Security? Yes!

Amen.
Your whole post was confusing - not sure where you're coming from. How about just telling us?

GRACE HAS TRANSFORMED US FROM SLAVES OF SIN TO SLAVES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH BENEFITS OF SANCTIFICATION AND LIFE
yes at that he has the point with osnas group is no sin shall enter in heaven . the hold to 1 john 1:9 . i have heard it argued that 1 john 1:9 is not for the saved. i have studied the 2 sides out for many years .i am ordained Gen Baptist they do not teach eternal security. how ever i could care less what the teachings of the general Baptist are when it comes to preaching. i preach the word and the word does say we can be secure,

one thing for sure i had rather be walking with the Lord when he calls me out. one thing for sure Christ will judge the secrets of our heart. anything

“You mean to tell me that people can trust Christ as their Savior and then turn around and live any way they please and still go to heaven?”
NO, one as a child of God cannot go on sinning as they please. God do not have Bebe's Kids running around out of Control. Hebrews 12:4 "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." Hebrews 12:5 "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:" Hebrews 12:6 "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth." Hebrews 12:7 "If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?" Hebrews 12:8 "But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons." Hebrews 12:9 "Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?" Hebrews 12:10 "For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness." Hebrews 12:11 "Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby."

No one will ever reach God’s standard of absolute moral perfection and be worthy of His glory on his own.
Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." HOW? as you said own our own ... NO, but with help yes. Hebrews 12:1 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:3 "For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

so we need to add to our Faith. 2 Peter 1:4 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." 2 Peter 1:5 "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;" 2 Peter 1:6 "And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;" 2 Peter 1:7 "And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity." 2 Peter 1:8 "For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1:9 "But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins." 2 Peter 1:10 "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:" 2 Peter 1:11 "For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

Hammer time... Can't Touch This

The following is how you know you have eternal security.

“Faith” and “works” are the BODY and SPIRIT of a true Christian life. We are SAVED BY GRACE through faith, without works (Eph 2:8-9), but we test the genuineness of that FAITH by WORKS (Eph 2:10, James 2:14, 17, 24, 26). We SHARE in God’s Eternal Life on certain conditions:

1. IF We Abide (“remain and dwell”) In Christ — (John 15:2, 5-6)

2. IF We Continue In The Faith — (Acts 14:22, Col 1:23)

3. IF We Continue In The Grace Of God — (Acts 13:43)

4. IF We Live In The Spirit And Are Led By The Spirit — (Rom 8:13-14)

5. IF We Keep Out Bodies In Subjection — (1 Cor 9:27)

6. IF We Are Followers Of God — (Eph 5:1, 3, 5-7)

7. IF We Do The Will Of God — (1 John 2:17)

8. IF We Remain Steadfast — (Heb 3:6, 14, 2 Pet 3:17)

9. IF We Do Not Neglect Our Salvation — (Heb 2:3, 12:25)

10. IF We Love The Brethren — (1 John 3:14-15)

The First Epistle of John depicts clearly the CONTINUING CONDITIONAL ASPECT of the New Birth. Study 1 John 2:29-3:10, and reduce the passage to simple logic, and you will find that it teaches the following:

Only those who abide in Christ avoid habitual, deliberate sinning.
All who stand begotten of God avoid habitual, deliberate sinning.
Only those who abide in Christ stand begotten of God.

If you want to have eternal security of your salvation then you have to know that you are saved. How do we know that we are saved? God's word tells us.

1. By The Testimony Of God’s Word — (1 John 5:12-13, John 3:16, 36, 5:24)

2. By The Witness Of God’s Spirit — (1 John 3:24, 5:10-11, Rom 8:16, Gal 4:6)

3. By A Heart-felt Love For God’s People — (1 John 3:11-19)

4. By An Earnest Desire To Obey God’s Commandments — (1 John 2:3-6, John 14:23)

5. By The Transformation Of My Life And Desires — (2 Cor 5:17, Col 3:1-3)

The Bible tells us that we are eternally secure and the reason we need to understand that it's because there are dangers out there.
If you have a false security false security by denying the existence of danger, is the worst possible position to be in. Real security can exist only when there is an awareness of possible danger, and of the availability of resources to meet it. It is the one who “thinketh he standeth” who is in real danger of falling 1 Cor 10:12

It's been mentioned in this thread and I believe it there's some profession Christians only have "Fire insurance" but not real salvation. That's what 1 Cor 10:12 He's talking about.

Some people seem to believe that eternal security is the false idea that you can call yourself a Christian and then do whatever you want. Continue on in your old way of life and remain master of your destiny, your own god. But that's not what eternal security is. It's being safe in The Loving Arms of Jesus and making him Lord of your life. Becoming a Living Sacrifice. Then you are eternally secure.

If our salvation can be lost, our adoption into the family of God is not permanent. We can be unadopted, so to speak. Such a process, however, is never described or even alluded to in the New Testament. Never once are believers threatened with losing membership in the family of God. Jesus taught just the opposite. As far as He was and is concerned, adoption is forever!

Yes it’s like being unborn again , unregenerated, conditional life, unplaced in the heavenlys with Christ, unresurrected with Him, replaced out of Christ instead of placed in Christ, instead of nothing can separate us it’s anything can and the list goes on making the promises of God null and void.

I've never been fishing but it sure looks like fun. But I understand How witnessing is more rewarding for you. Store up treasures in heaven.

I think God’s Word is our source of assurance that we have eternal security in Jesus. So we can definitely be certain of things that God has recorded in His Word like eternal security. There's scriptures galore that have been posted in this thread that prove beyond a doubt the reality of eternal security.

People sometimes look to subjective factors in a misguided effort to deny their status in God’s forever family. Many look to their works, but are haunted by the knowledge that the motives behind the good things they do are not always pure. On top of that, not all of their works are good.

Some look to their love for other Christians, their commitment to Christ, and even whether or not they feel born again. Still others focus on how much they love God and hate sin only to find that sometimes their love for God is less than absolute and their hatred of sin wanes. You'll never get them to admit it but it happens. We all fall short of the glory of God. And if we say we're without sin we are calling God a liar.

The only consistent thing that such introspection produces is doubt. It has no place in helping us realize our eternal security. Our Heavenly citizenship is unrelated to our performance. If you Believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are a part of the kingdom and nothing can change that.
That is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches.

Be on guard FOR YOURSELVES AND FOR ALL THE FLOCK ... to shepherd the church of God. Acts 20:28
I am CONSCIOUS OF NOTHING AGAINST MYSELF, YET I AM NOT BY THIS ACQUITTED; but the one who examines me is the Lord. 1 Corinthians 4:4
But a man MUST EXAMINE HIMSELF ... eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 1 Corinthians 11:28
TEST YOURSELVES TO SEE IF YOU ARE IN THE FAITH; EXAMINE YOURSELVES ... unless indeed you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5
But EACH ONE MUST EXAMINE HIS OWN WORK and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. Galatians 6:4
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOURSELF and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will insure salvation BOTH FOR YOURSELF and for those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:16

You really shouldn't teach contrary to what the Bible teaches.

replaced out of Christ instead of placed in Christ,

Or maybe like... being severed from Christ?

You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Gal. 5:4 NAS)

Oh, but hey.... maybe I "worship" Galatians chapter 5 too.

Might as well rip it out of your Bible along with Isaiah 53, since we don't like what it says.

Or write a 100 page paper to explain away the plain and obvious meaning. :)

see my previous reply judas fits the bill perfectly.

none of your passages say the person severed was saved or had eternal life.

once again reading your doctrine into scripture- eisegesis.

That coincides with the 4 soils . Are all 4 soils saved ?

was judas saved ?

might as well throw out the parables
Good verse dizerner. It's amazing how just one verse can debunk OSAS - but there are SO MANY verses that do the same. How is it possible for them to ignore the clear warnings of the word of God?

The first soil beside the road is obviously someone who is not saved. Luke 8:12 (so that they will not believe and be saved)
The rocky soil are those WHO BELIEVED FOR AWHILE, AND IN TIME OF TEMPTATION FALL AWAY. So they were believers according to Jesus, but later they fell away.
The thorny soil are people who have heard the word, but there's no indication that they were saved and therefore, no fruit.
Of course, the last good soil are those who are saved.

So we have unsaved people in the first and third soils, and saved people in the second and fourth soils. Unfortunately, the true believers in the second soil fell away from the faith. Ultimately, just one soil, the good soil, was saved.

Was Judas saved? I don't know. I find it hard to believe that Jesus would choose a disciple that was not originally on board - but apparently fell later.

once again reading your doctrine into scripture- eisegesis.
You can't be severed from Christ unless you were in (connected to) Christ to begin with. Nor can you fall from grace unless you were in grace to begin with. You are the one reading your doctrine into this verse, instead of just taking the plain meaning at face value.

No one is making God's promises null and void - rather we are pointing out the CONDITIONS to receive those promises, which you guys are ignoring.

Like you do with Romans 8:16-17: "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, IF INDEED WE SUFFER WITH HIM SO THAT WE MAY ALSO BE GLORIFIED WITH HIM." THERE IS A CONDITION. "Indeed All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." 2 Timothy 3:12 "If we ENDURE, we will also reign with Him." 2 Timothy 2:12 "when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away." Matthew 13:21 Here we have the 2nd soil on the rocky places, where the man believes for a while, but he doesn't want to suffer affliction or persecution as a Christian, so he falls away. What about God's promise? It's still there for THOSE WHO MEET THE CONDITION.
If we're NOT willing to suffer with Him, then we have NO promise that we will be glorified with Him.
