The Elect

The passage you're referring to is from 1 Peter 1:8-9, and it speaks to the context of faith and salvation within the broader theme of suffering and hope in the Christian life.

In the preceding verses, Peter addresses the believers as exiles scattered throughout various regions. He acknowledges the trials and difficulties they are facing and encourages them to hold fast to their faith in Christ despite their sufferings.

In verses 8-9 specifically, Peter emphasizes the remarkable nature of their faith and the assurance they have in Christ, even though they have not physically seen Him. Here's the breakdown:

Love for Christ: Peter acknowledges the believers' love for Jesus, even though they have not seen Him. Their love is not based on physical sight but on their relationship with Him through faith.

Belief in Christ: Despite not seeing Jesus at the present moment, the believers continue to believe in Him. Their faith is not dependent on visible evidence but is rooted in their trust in His promises and teachings.

Joy in Salvation: Peter describes the believers as being filled with "inexpressible and glorious joy" because they are experiencing the salvation of their souls. This joy stems from the assurance of their salvation through faith in Christ.

The context of suffering and persecution likely amplifies the significance of these words. Despite their present trials, Peter assures the believers that their faith in Christ is producing an eternal outcome—the salvation of their souls. This perspective empowers them to endure hardships with hope and joy, knowing that their ultimate redemption is secure in Christ.

In summary, the context of 1 Peter 1:8-9 highlights the believers' steadfast faith and joy in Christ amidst trials and suffering, emphasizing the assurance of salvation through faith even in the absence of physical sight.

Something I want to share with you-

Calvinists are Wicked?
wicked ?

no

The audience is undeniably regenerated believers. You are artificially imposing the natural = regenerated only unwarranted rule. The verse does not say that.
No-I am not superimposing anything on the text.

1 Corinthians 1:11-13: Paul addresses divisions in the Corinthian church, where some were aligning themselves with different leaders (e.g., Paul, Apollos, Cephas) rather than being united in Christ. This indicates a lack of spiritual maturity and possibly even factionalism among the believers.

1 Corinthians 3:1-3: Paul speaks to the Corinthians as being "mere infants in Christ," indicating that they were immature in their faith and still influenced by worldly thinking and behavior. He describes them as being divided and behaving in a worldly manner, indicating that their spiritual growth was stunted.

1 Corinthians 5:1-13: Paul addresses a case of sexual immorality within the Corinthian church, where a man was involved in a relationship with his father's wife. Paul rebukes the church for their tolerance of such sin and instructs them to discipline the offender. The presence of such sin within the church suggests a lack of spiritual discernment and adherence to Christian moral standards.

1 Corinthians 11:17-22: Paul rebukes the Corinthians for their conduct during the Lord's Supper, where some were eating and drinking in an unworthy manner, leading to divisions and judgment. This behavior reflects a lack of reverence for the significance of the sacrament and a failure to discern the body of Christ.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18: Paul warns the Corinthians against being unequally yoked with unbelievers, suggesting that there were associations within the church that were compromising their commitment to Christ.

While the Corinthian church included genuine believers who had been sanctified in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2), it also included individuals who were struggling with sin, immaturity, and unbelief. Paul's letters to the Corinthians address these issues and provide guidance for spiritual growth, unity, and holiness within the church.

So then a regenerated man can be a natural man, right? That throws the calvinist idea that natural man = unregenerated man only out the window.

Iron sharpens iron

2 Tim 3:16-17
Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Titus 1:13
This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sternly, so that they will be sound in the faith

Titus 2:15
Speak these things as you encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you

1Co 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
I get that but the context of what I'm meaning is when the unregenerate one's not born again hear the gospel preached they have the capacity to trust in the Lord with all their heart and lean not to their own natural worldly way of thinking understanding. Some choose to do so and some choose not to and if they choose not to it's because Jesus says they loved darkness rather than light for their deeds were evil.

1Co 2:16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Yes really spoken to ones which were Christians but there's always a beginning point of the first time they choose to embrace God's way of thinking.
the natural man
*Jud 1:19 These are those who cause divisions and are sensual, not having the Spirit.
Yes but the natural man is the natural man only as he's choosing to be such. Those who choose to retain the natural way and manner of thinking aren't allowing what God says about a matter to be authoritative or predominate in their thinking. The unborn again can do this as we can see with the Roman Centurion .(Luke 7:9) ...he believe two things.....God had a good character AND his words had authority. We can say he trusted in the Lord with all his heart and leaned not to natural wisdom of this world.

1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body.
That has nothing to do with an unborn again man not being able to choose Jesus after hearing the gospel.
Jas 3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
I agree but one unregenerate (who is a natural man) can choose to embrace God's spiritual revelation by trusting in the Lord with all his heart and lean not to worldly ways of thinking. If he chooses to retain worldly ways of thinking then he'll consider the gospel as foolishness. The Bible DOES NOT say all who are not born again do this.

Not what I'm saying and stop blame shifting the Calvinists-signs of immaturity and ignorance of Scriptures. They are our fellow brothers and sisters IN Christ Jesus.
Then what exactly are you saying about the unwarranted natural man = unregenerated man only foundational rule of calvinism?

how did the causation occur ? keep reading

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

John 3:3 (ESV): "Jesus answered him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.'"

John 3:19-20 (ESV): "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."

1 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV): "The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned."

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (ESV): "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

Ephesians 4:17-18 (ESV): "Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart."

1 John 2:11 (ESV): "But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes."

These passages highlight the spiritual blindness and inability of those who are unregenerate or unbelieving to perceive and understand the truths of God, including the person of Jesus Christ and the message of the gospel. Without spiritual enlightenment and the work of the Holy Spirit, individuals remain in darkness and are unable to discern the things of God.

Furthermore--

Romans 3:10-12 (ESV): "as it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.'"

Psalm 14:1-3 (ESV): "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one."

Ecclesiastes 7:20 (ESV): "Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins."

Isaiah 53:6 (ESV): "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV): "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?"

These Scriptures underscore the fallen nature of humanity, emphasizing that apart from the grace of God, no one is righteous or seeks after God. The pervasive sinfulness of humanity is a recurring theme throughout the Bible, highlighting the need for redemption and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Thats not what Jesus teaches in the parable of the 4 soils.

Matthew 13- The Parable of the Sower

1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

God requires of man 3 things to be saved.

Faith
Repentance
Humility

Then God regenerates them, giving them the promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit resulting in Eternal Life becoming a child of God.

Until you explicitly declare your position, I'm going to continue to ascertain from what you have written so far that you accept the unwarranted natural man = unregenerated man only foundational rule of calvinism.

And in typical calvinist fashion, you end up reacting with ad hominems instead of addressing the issue at hand.

Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Eph 2:6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Eph 2:7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

You are not going to interrogate me as you did @The Rogue Tomato-the one reacting with ad hominems is you, you have honed the art to perfection, second nature to you.

This is a public forum. Whatever you forward is seen by all and can be questioned. That's how the forum works. We don't throw ad hominem accusations like "immaturity and ignorance of Scriptures" at each other at the first sign that you're losing the argument. Stay on the topic and avoid the ad hominems. You can also run away from the topic by putting me on ignore.
