Refuting effectually caused faith

When Paul exhorted the jailer to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ that he might be saved, God enabled the jailer to believe Life and power is conveyed to the soul in Gospel Commands and Exhortations.

Believing in Christ is given/caused by Grace Phil 1:29

29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

The word given charizomai which comes from the word grace and means:

to give graciously, give freely, bestow so Grace is bestowed to cause believing. Like when sight is given Lk 7 21

21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

More: The word given charizomai in Phil 1:29 is the exact same word freely give in Rom 8:32

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

So all for whom Christ was delivered up for, with Him they will be given freely with Him to believe on Him.

The phillipians were granted faith in this manner

Acts 16:9–12 (KJV 1900) — 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. 11 Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; 12 And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

Paul received a vision and as a result went and preached the gospel

as scripture states

Romans 10:14–17 (KJV 1900) — 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Acts 16:25–34 (ESV) — 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened. 27 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” 29 And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. 34 Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.

Absolutely! They were influenced by all the Thor comic books they read when they were young. They believe that God zaps people with belief just like Thor zapped people with lightning bolts. 🌩

Technically, some translations say WORD OF GOD and some say WORD OF CHRIST. But hearing comes by the word of God/Christ. If you have no hearing (i.e., God/Christ has not opened your ears), then the sound waves of the Gospel will not produce faith.
That’s not what Roman’s 10 says. The person who responds in faith is the result of hearing the gospel , the word of God/ Christ. This is exactly what Jesus taught in His parables especially in the 4 soils. Gods word does not contradict itself which in Calvinism it’s full of contradictions and oxymorons.

hope this helps !!!

Everyone is enabled by God to believe by hearing the word of God. Read Rom 10:8-13. Some are willing to do so and others are not. The Jailer was willing to do so. Nobody is zapped into believing.

8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
13 For “
whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Faith that is involving Salvation, is not of ourselves, its born of God, it overcomes the world, Notice 1 Jn 5:4,1

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

The word whatosever here is neuter so the person isnt being spoken of a being born of God like it is in Vs 1

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Now here John uses the masculine for the word whosoever

And who in Vs 5 is masculine

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

So Vs 4 shows us that Faith that believes in Jesus Christ is born of God, thats why it overcomes the world,

So its the Regenerated New Creature that believes in the Truth Christ.
John Gill writes:

For whatsoever is born of God,.... Which may be understood either of persons born; of God; or of the new creature, or principle of grace wrought in them, particularly faith hereafter mentioned, which is an heaven born grace, the gift of God, and the operation of his Spirit: this
