The Jailor would believe by Grace, it would be given tohim Phil 1:29

29 For unto you it is given[grace] in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

What does Philippians 1:29 mean?

Paul clearly teaches that both believing and suffering were parts of faithful Christian living. His readers had likely already faced some persecution, and may have wondered why they had to suffer if they were faithfully living for God. Paul makes it clear that godliness and suffering often go together. There are times when we suffer, at the hands of the world, because we are following the will of God. The world hates the gospel, and it will naturally try to stamp it out (John 16:1–4). Second Timothy 3:12 says, "Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted."

Paul will later note in Philippians 3:8 and 10, "For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ. … that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death." Christ is worthy of whatever suffering a believer may face. In Colossians 1:24, Paul would write, "Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake." First Peter 2:21 notes the role of suffering in this way: "For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps."

Context Summary
Philippians 1:19–30 shows Paul reflecting on two competing desires. On one hand, a believer wants to serve God and bring others to Christ through their life. On the other hand, a Christian yearns to leave suffering behind—to be with God in eternity. Paul concludes that it's better to live until God calls him home, so he can serve his fellow men. Paul also encourages the Philippians with his conviction that he will be released to see them again. His experiences, good or bad, are all adding to the glory of Jesus Christ.

New Living Translation
For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.

And now would be a good time for you to tell us all how you have suffered for Jesus. For that is what Paul was writing about to the Philippians
NOT ABOUT A GIFT OF FAITH

Date of Writing: The Book of Philippians was written in approximately A.D. 61.

Purpose of Writing: The Epistle to the Philippians, one of Paul’s prison epistles, was written in Rome. It was at Philippi, which the apostle visited on his second missionary journey (Acts 16:12), that Lydia and the Philippian jailer and his family were converted to Christ. Now, some few years later, the church was well established, as may be inferred from its address which includes “bishops (elders) and deacons” (Philippians 1:1).

The occasion of the epistle was to acknowledge a gift of money from the church at Philippi, brought to the apostle by Epaphroditus, one of its members (Philippians 4:10-18). This is a tender letter to a group of Christians who were especially close to the heart of Paul (2 Corinthians 8:1-6), and comparatively little is said about doctrinal error.

Connections: As with many of his letters, Paul warned the new believers in the church of Philippi to beware of the tendency toward legalism which continually cropped up in the early churches. So tied to the Old Testament law were the Jews that there was a constant effort on the part of the Judaizers to return to the teaching of salvation by works. But Paul reiterated that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone and branded the Judaizers as “dogs” and “men who do evil.” In particular, the legalists were insisting that the new believers in Christ should continue to be circumcised according to the requirements of the Old Covenant (Genesis 17:10-12; Leviticus 12:3). In this way, they attempted to please God by their own efforts and elevate themselves above the Gentile Christians who did not participate in the ritual. Paul explained that those who have been washed by the blood of the Lamb were no longer to perform the ritual that symbolized the need for a clean heart.

Grace gives faith to the man who has been chosen by God to believe. Believing is not a ‘Do this and you will then be saved’ proposition, for believing is a gift from God to the one He has chosen to save. Faith is given before belief, so that one will believe. One cannot savingly believe before grace gives the gift of faith. One cannot believe without the gift of faith being given first, just as one cannot be saved without grace. Believing comes in the package marked: SALVATION BY GRACE ALONE! Salvation does not come because of a decision made by a man, but solely as a gift given to the one God has chosen to save. Gifts do not come because of a decision made by the one to whom the gift is given, but wholly by the one who is giving the gift.

Yep... them theres the tactics.

And I thought you were coming along

But then things seem wrong when this

should actually read as

29 For unto you it is given[grace] on the behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake;

and......

"Faith is given before belief, so that one will believe" (So close, and yet so far away.................................)
For you, you claim the Father gave you the faith. So you are able to believe the Son.

For me Faith faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So I am able to believe the Son.

Faith or the Believing in Salvation is a product of power of God, its in fact the same power that raised up Jesus from the Dead, Resurrection Power Eph 1:18-20

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Paul called this the Power of His Resurrection Phil 3:10

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Its by this Resurrection Power that the elect are begotten again 1 Pet1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Not talking about you, but what Gods word said. I dont gauge things spiritual by you.

Strong's Greek: 4309. προορίζω (proorizó) -- To predestine, to foreordain

Usage: The Greek verb "proorizó" means to determine or decide beforehand. In the New Testament, it is used to describe God's sovereign decision and plan, particularly in relation to salvation and the destiny of believers.

Cultural and Historical Background: In the Greco-Roman world, the concept of fate and destiny was prevalent, often associated with the gods' control over human affairs. However, the biblical use of "proorizó" is distinct in that it reflects the personal and purposeful will of the one true God, who is actively involved in the lives of His people. This term underscores the biblical theme of God's sovereignty and His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ.

IOW. GOD did predestine those who came to believe His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. BUT he did not predestine or cherry pick who would be chosen. That is where Calvin is wrong.

His predestined plan was for those of us who are where we stand in Jesus today. But we have to see the offer and decide to accept or reject it for our eternal reward that was already predestined when He made the plan(s) before the earth was ever formed.
