Data on John 1:1

I don't accept what Google says about someone else without reading their own words. Google lies. So do many so called historians who were hundreds of years removed from when they lived. That is why I asked you to give me their own words. Most people will lie to you about what I've said much less someone from the first/second century. Quote them. Also, make sure you translate their words yourself.

Maybe explain the difference between first sin and original sin?

No good asking a question WITH a question.

Did you review what was written about them through their own words? You do realize that Protestants and Catholics have been fighting over what they said for many many generations. Protestants and Catholics are enemies yet they claim the same origins.

I'm not going to search these websites. I already know the answer. I studied it myself. I'm try to get you to learn from your mistakes. Don't believe everything you read.

I know what to look for and where to look for.

So, where does the guilt come from when a believer commits an act of sin?

J.

Sin is sin. You do realize that babies can't help themselves right?

God spoke to Israel about how they had become abandoned.....

Eze 16:4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.
Eze 16:5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.

This can be a great conversation but you'll need to abandon what you believe to embrace the Truth. Are you willing to abandon what you previously believed? Will you go where the information takes you?

I'm skeptical. Who is Polycarp? Don't Google. Tell me what you know.
Polycarp was an early Christian bishop of Smyrna, a significant figure in the early church, and a disciple of the Apostle John. He is known for his role in combating heresies and for his martyrdom, which is well-documented in early Christian writings.

If you’re curious to know more, I encourage you to look into it yourself-there's a wealth of information available about his life and teachings that would deepen your understanding of early Christianity.

What should I let go of to embrace the truth that I seem to be missing? What did I "previously believed?"

I'm 30 years ahead of you. What is the evidence that Polycarp is who he said he was?

You obviously believe in the doctrine of Original sin. I asked you about "First Sin" for a reason. The context of "First Sin" is found throughout most all religions including Judaism.

The term/phrase "Original Sin" has "baggage" associated with it. People use the term as a weapon itself.

What is the difference between "Original Sin" and "First Sin"?

Glad to know you are 30 years ahead of me-I have a lot of catching up to do.

You don't know what I believe-for this I will refer you to read-

Talmudic and Midrashic Insights: Jewish tradition includes many discussions and interpretations of this narrative in the Talmud and Midrash. For example, the Talmud explores the implications of this sin for humanity and the nature of evil, while midrashic literature may elaborate on the characters of Adam and Eve and their motivations.

Thanks.

You could just admit you believe in Original Sin. No need to deflect.

Which Talmud do you use?

Which Talmud do you use?
Babylonian Talmud (Talmud Bavli)

Jerusalem Talmud (Talmud Yerushalmi)

I don't want to lose context of the conversation concerning Polycarp. If you could, using your existing knowledge of Polycarp, detail how we actually know Polycarp is who he said he was?
Check it out for yourself-you’re 30 years ahead of me, after all.

No need to take my word for it; we’re all adults here, and there’s no reason for me to spoon-feed you. No offense intended.

You're not spoon feeding me at all. I already know the answer. You're the one that appealed to the knowledge. Your argument depends upon that knowledge. I didn't say anything about Polycarp until you did.

The Talmuds are competitors for the narrative. Which one do you believe?
