Are we told to worship Jesus or are we told to worship God?

Great OP. And that's just what we're doing here. We're talking about our different beliefs about the deity of Christ and if we should worship him. I'm pretty sure we already know we are to worship God. As a tritarian I have no problem worshiping the father and the son. I'm also pretty sure we all have our minds made up on this topic So our beliefs are bound to be contradictory.

Jesus told us to love God and to love each other. When I look at the goodness of Jesus and all he's done for me I can't help but love him and give him all my adoration.

Have you ever heard the story about how the cross became the symbol of Christianity? The one I heard is back in history when it could be dangerous to be a Christian when two people met on the road and were talking to each other one would take his staff and draw a line in the sand and the other one would take his staff and draw it across the first line forming a cross. Then they both knew they were Christians.

And that's who we are, followers of Christ. He is our Lord and our savior. Of course we can worship him. If anyone started a religious sect where you weren't allowed to worship Jesus I would be real Leary of drinking the Kool-Aid.

Do you think the name of God is important, @Wrangler? God desired for it to be made known to the world. Some say Jehovah, some say Yahweh, and recently a discovered new name Yahava.

While I personally use the name Yahava some people tell me its wrong which is fine they say Yahweh or Jehovah; however some people believe its improper to use a name at all and just say God.

I dont believe that Jesus is Yahava/Yahweh/Jehovah and the reason why is that Yeshua was the Word of God. He is the spoken representive of Yahava. Therefore because of this it seems to me that God gave his Word the ability to create, and was with God in the begining and was God (having being a part of God.)

My words are part of a reflection of my own soul.

The thing is no matter which one is used above ( no one knows ) which is why there are so many different version of the NAME, I have always just used the consonants since there are no vowels in the NAME. YHWH of YHVH are both acceptable the theological circles. :) so I'm not dogmatic.

Well, some people are hyper literalist and things of that nature. That is why I told you its better to go by the spirit however bible is there for reference, right now im doing a study on the cup of wrath.

Some people are hyper non-literalists and go by their feelings instead of what the Bible already declares as truth.
