You're overthinking it. They were already preaching and the topic moved to incarnation. They didn't use it to their advantage. Actually, their reaction in the following verses looks like outrage. They were angry would would dare make sacrifices to and worship humans like them! Wow, Jesus is a human too. Catching on yet?That is as stupid as could be.
