The Bible does not teach to pray to Jesus

A teaching is when information or instruction is given about a subject or skill that shows or explains to someone how to do something. The OP of this thread is that the Bible doesn't teach to pray to Jesus. It doesn't. The only teaching on prayer in the Bible is Matthew 6:6-9 which is about praying to the Father. You won't be able to counter this.

The only teaching in the Bible about who to pray to is the Father. Matt 6:6-9
You seemed to miss audience relevance. This was a prayer Jesus shared with Jews. That means the lesson only applies to Jews. So gentiles are not even "taught" to pray to the Father. Why would you then have a problem with Jesus not teaching gentiles to pray to anyone specific?

My OP will never be refuted because there aren't any teachings on praying to Jesus in the Bible.
Do YOU ever pray to God the Father other then saying the Lords prayer? Do you ever just talk to the Father? Do you ever ask for anything?
Have you ever asked the Father for forgiveness? Or to remove a burden from yourself? Or to heal someone?

WHY? When Jesus instructed you how to pray. Matt 6:6 “But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

And then he instructed how and what to pray for.
Matt 6:7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
6:8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

And the rest I am sure you know.

So if there was ever even a single time in your life that you deviated from this, and felt it was pray to the Heavenly Father..............

The follow are scriptures of praying to Jesus, and while you may not agree with that, it is certain that they are prayers and worship.

Do YOU ever pray to God the Father other then saying the Lords prayer? Do you ever just talk to the Father? Do you ever ask for anything?

I always pray to The Father, The Only and True God.

I praise Him, I thank Him for his blessings, I ask Him forgiveness for my sins, I ask Him for my daily sustenance, I ask Him for my spiritual development, etc.
I pray to The Father while walking with my dog in the park, while kneeling, sitting and also prostrated with my face touching the floor. Sometimes I have done it while taking a shower or while driving.
I pray to The Father with spontaneous words and also reciting and meditating on prayers written by Bahá'u'lláh. From time to time using the Lord's Prayer Jesus set as model. I also pray to the Father by following carefully the words of hymns and making those words mine.
I pray to The Father sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night, and in the early afternoon. Also when I am about to start a difficult part of my job: I review adverse events arising from medications in clinical trials.

Why? Jesus instructed prayer in the Lord's Prayer. And in private... even a closet.

Your praying to the Father is no different then my prayers and talks to Jesus.

This verse was not put in the bible only for me....

John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

That's correct. I pray in private so that people don't see me praying. I work from home, and I am alone 80% of the time. When the cleaning lady is at home, I enter my bedroom and I close the door.

When we read the passage in the Bible you are refering to, we realize that Jesus was criticizing to show off in front of other people, to pass as a holy man so that they would be rewarded by others. Those who keep their devotions in modesty know that "your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
We are all believers here in the thread, so we all know we pray and there is no showing off among us, hopefully.

Your praying to the Father is no different then my prayers and talks to Jesus.
That's great.
Just keep in mind always that Jesus is your Way to the Father, that His mission is to take you to the Father, and that Jesus expects you to do the will of The Father. In other words, that Jesus is your Advocate or Mediator, not the ultimate destination of your prayer or journey.
If you keep this in mind, I find beautiful that you talk to Jesus from time to time.

Lucid Catholics think the same about praying to Virgin Mary. They ask her to take their prayers to Jesus Christ who will take them to The Father. These lucid Catholics know that Virgin Mary is not the ultimate destination of their prayers or spiritual journey.

Yes, I believe that.
I believe you receive blessings from the Father through your commitment and devotion to Jesus.
As I say, just keep in mind Who is the source of the blessings.
And please pray for me one of these days if you remember. I'll do the same for you, MTMattie.

Begin with the teachings first before making up your own teachings. Where did anyone teach anything about praying to Jesus? Are you ready to confess the Bible does not belong to your religion?

Jesus' teachings are for everyone.

You have singled out a word that you propose means a prayer to Jesus but when it applies others you change positions. I think no one believes you.

What a ridiculous argument.

That's like saying Luke 10:2 is not teaching prayer to the Lord because the same Greek word for "beseech" is used in reference to people in Luke 9:40.

Luke 9:40 (deomai)
I begged Your disciples to cast it out, and they could not.
Luke 10:2 (deomai)
beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

You will need to do better than that. How do you account for the fact that Jesus spent his time on earth telling people to pray to someone else?
I think you missed the passages that show Jesus had not even revealed himself as the Messiah. I just follow the scriptures. Like I shared earlier Matt 5-7 is shared to Jews. It was addressing issues among them. Some ideas may extend to gentiles, but we first have to recognize the context.

The argument was about a word that was used to both Jesus and Caesar. Doesn't make sense to say to say it means prayer. Next.

This seems to deserve its own thread. Of course Jesus is the Messiah.

What is your opinion on Matthew 6:6,9?
