Again Jn 16 is about the effectual regenerating work of the Spirit unto the world of the elect, He will convict them of sin and unbelief,and give them faith in the righteousness of Christ. Jn 16:7-11

The Spirit began this conversion work on the Day of pentecost when He convicted 3000 of sin and brought them to submit to Christ.

It is the first step in the process of being converted, but it makes no spiritual difference in heart of man beyond an intellectual awareness of his guilt before God, ie, that we have sinned. Conviction produces Godly sorrow, which produces repentance, which leads to conversion.

Yes conviction is part of conversion of the regenerate, the Spirit convicted regenerated men on the day of pentecost through Peters preaching Acts 2:36-38

It was the inner working of the Spirit that pricked their hearts, and their submitting to baptism at the instructionof Peter evidenced their conversion.

Notice that it is “the world” not “the elect of the world”; you would do well to remember 1 Cor 4:6 “Do not go beyond what is written…”.

He will convict the world of sin, that part of regeneration and conversion ! Of course you know the world is the elect, Sheep. Christ didn't pray for the world in General Jn 17:9 The world of Jn 16:8-10 He prayed for..
