Excellent Discussion on OSAS

His sheep are bought and paid for by His blood. You just can't undo that. Once a believer always a believer.
Right, Jesus is described as the author and perfecter, or finisher, of our faith in Hebrews 12:2. An author is an originator or creator, as of a theory or plan.

Perfecter means literally “completer” or “finisher” and speaks of bringing something to its conclusion. Putting the two words together, we see that Jesus, as God, both creates and sustains our faith.

Amen!! it is God who gets the glory. not us

Making up words such as “nominal” Christian is at best deceitful.

As if the Bible is a special set of instructions for special Christians. Nonsense.
It's not nonsense at all. John states the person who SAYS (key word) they know Him yet demonstrates otherwise by not keeping His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him. This claim of knowing Him by such a person is an empty profession. Hence, "nominal" (in name only) Christian. False claim.
He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:4

He refers to any person who says he has eternal life (I know Him).
"Nominal" Christians can say/claim all day long that they know Him, but that does not make it the truth. Those who truly know Him demonstrate it through their actions. Just as we see in James 2:14-24. In regard to knowing Him.

In John 17:3, we read - 17:3 - And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent (which is an intimate, experiential knowledge, found only in a relationship). The term "know" implies intimate, experiential knowledge, through a relationship with Him and not merely theoretical knowledge.
Keeping His commandments is the way of love; loving God and loving His children.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

His commandments are not burdensome to born again Christians.
His commandments are not burdensome for those who are born again. Christians. Loving God and loving His children is the demonstrative evidence that we know Him and are born of God. (1 John 2:3; 4:7)
Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
Descriptive of those who are born of God.
Keeping His commandments are the way we remain in Christ.
Keeping his commandments is not about "type 2 works salvation" or salvation by works at the back door. The word "abide" is from the Greek word "meno" which means to remain, tarry, not to depart, continue to be present.

This is not something that only super saints do but all genuine born again Christians. 1 John 4:13 - By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit... 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Those who fail to abide (like Judas Iscariot) demonstrate that their faith was never firmly rooted and established from the beginning. Judas may have looked like the real deal for a while, but Jesus exposed him as an unbelieving, unclean devil who would betray Him. (John 6:64-71; 13:10-11)

So you believe that we as Christians must continue to keep His commandments so that we continue to know Him?

No such word or term in scripture as “nominal Christian”.

This is just another man made word to prop up your man made theology.

Please post the scripture that uses nominal Christian.

Keeping His commandments is how we remain in Christ.

Very simple.

Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24

No need to add to scripture with unbiblical words and phrases such as type 2 works salvation, or nominal Christian or works at the back door.

You either believe and obey what scripture says or you don’t.

The choice is yours.

To get saved
Stay saved
Or because you are saved forever

Yes we all obey him

Yes

We are saved.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

It’s good to spend time with Him every day and to confess our sins and listen for His Voice to lead us in our everyday lives.

Yup, funny how man wants so much to have his hand in salvation. If that were the case Heaven might be a lonely place.

Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life
.”
Matthew 25:41-46

Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

Here is why:

for I was hungry and you gave Me no food;
I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
