The Bible does not teach to pray to Jesus

I am praying for your comfort.

I deeply appreciate your concern; thank you.

Your prayer for my comfort was a wise choice because at 81+ I really don't mind
dying; and will be glad to get it over with. It's the end-of-life journey to that door
that's stressful, and I have a tendency to become despondent as this is my first
experience with a destructive illness.

Cancer has taken over fifty pounds off my normal weight and given me the ghastly
appearance of a skin & bones Auschwitz survivor. I have come to really hate the big
mirror in my bathroom.

I hope your life has been rich and full of blessings @81.
You will be free from troubles and trials and have only peace with God,soon.
Say all you need to say to loved ones and may he grant you peace from this stress.
Dying is only one step closer; the dead in Christ shall awaken first, begiven a glorified body, and see God.

My prayers & blessing shall continue until we hear you have reached that rest !

I’m truly sorry that you are going through such a difficult time, but I pray these scriptures might bring you some comfort, peace, and encouragement.

Psalm 34:18
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Even in the darkest moments, the Lord is especially near to you, providing comfort and support when the journey feels overwhelming.

Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
The Lord promises His presence, strength, and help through times of suffering, so you’re never truly alone in the battle.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
In your suffering, God not only comforts you but gives you the grace to share that comfort with others. Your pain may be an opportunity to experience God’s comfort deeply and to offer that same comfort to those who will one day need it.

Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Though your body suffers now, there is a time coming when all pain, sorrow, and suffering will cease, and God will bring you into a place of perfect peace and rest.

Romans 8:18
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
The struggles and pain of this life are temporary, and though they are intense, the glory that awaits you far surpasses anything we can fully comprehend now.

Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
In moments of anxiety, prayer can bring you peace. God promises to guard your heart and mind with His peace, even when the circumstances are overwhelming.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
When the weight of the journey becomes too heavy, Jesus invites you to come to Him for rest. His presence and gentleness bring relief, even in the midst of deep suffering.

Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
The journey to the end of life is difficult, but God promises that He will be with you through it all, guiding and comforting you through every shadow and fear.

May these scriptures remind you that, while the journey may be difficult, God’s love, peace, and presence will never leave you.

God bless brother.

Johann.

I'm in awe that you actually went to the trouble of finding those verses and then
posting them. They are good. Thank you.

ps: I'm discovering that it's fairly easy to be a contented Christian in youth and
good health, whereas a bit of a challenge in old age and terminal illness.

Absolutely my brother and we are to redeem the time.

God bless and shalom to you and family.

Johann.

Yet, the only explicit directive in the entire Bible on who to pray to is still the Father. Been a lot of resistance to this, but nevertheless that's the truth. I am following it. I hope others will obey Jesus too.

Matthew 6
6But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

9So then, this is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

There you go ignoring scripture again

Clearly Stephen prayed to Jesus

Acts 7:59–60 (NASB95) — 59 They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” 60 Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” Having said this, he fell asleep.

Christians call on the name of Christ

1 Corinthians 1:2 (LEB) — 2 to the church of God sanctified in Christ Jesus that is in Corinth, called to be saints, together with all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours.

Paul prayed to Christ

2 Corinthians 12:8–9 (LEB) — 8 Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would depart from me. 9 And he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, because the power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore rather I will boast most gladly in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may reside in me.

Christians pray to Christ

1 John 5:13–15 (LEB) — 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 And this is the confidence that we have before him: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.

Christ tells men to pray to him and he will answer

John 14:13–14 (LEB) — 13 And whatever you ask in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

The apostles prayed to Christ

Acts 1:24–25 (LEB) — 24 And they prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show clearly which one of these two you have chosen 25 to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to depart to his own place.”

To be fair, none of those verses directly say Jesus was prayed to nor are they commands to pray to Jesus. On the point of there being one directive to pray to the Father, Matthew 6:6,9 takes the cake. So don't ignore Scripture yourself. Do you pray the way Jesus taught to pray?

If one talks really fast, so much so that it becomes singing, then is that okay to do so to the Lord Jesus?
Um, singing is not a prayer to other people.

Ephesians 3
19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
