When a regenerated Sheep does believe, he doesnt become a Sheep, but is manifested as a Sheep, so likewise, when a regenerated child of God believes, they are manifested as a child of God.

Thus, "as many as received Him" (John 1:12) it follows that "to them He gave authority to become children of God" (John 1:12).
Saint John further enforces "to the ones believing in his name" (John 1:12) "He gave authority to become children of God (John 1:12).

Thats my point, its only the Sons that believe on Christ once they are regenerated made alive. Jn 1:12-13 Vs 13 explains who believes from Vs 12

The word become means their sonship is manifested,

When they believe it becomes apparent for the first time they are the sons of God

Sonship is manifested 1 Jn 3:10

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

The word manifest phaneros means:

1. apparent, manifest, evident, known
2. manifest i.e to be plainly recognised or known

The word children here teknon is the same word sons in Jn 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

So they have always been the sons of God, even when dead in sin.
