You can receive a gift from someone such as a birthday gift, but that someone is not the gift.
I'll go by how the words of the Bible are properly defined.
You can stick with your fairy tale definitions.
You can receive a gift from someone such as a birthday gift, but that someone is not the gift.
Which apparently you do not know. It is pretty clear that the gift of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:38 is the Holy Spirit.I'll go by how the words of the Bible are properly defined.

It is not true of Acts 1045. In verse 46 it describes what had just happened was that they were given the ability to speak in tongues.I already affirmed this. See the link in post 342.
It is also true concerning Acts 10:45.
It is not true of Acts 1045.
In verse 46 it describes what had just happened was that they were given the ability to speak in tongues.
This is scriptureNone of that is true. They received the ability to speak in tongues. There is nothing in the NT that says that they must first be regenerated for them to receive that ability. There in fact is no direct connection between receiving the Spirit to perform miracles and receiving the gift of the indwelling Spirit in regeneration.
As I have stated, "receive the Spirit" in most places in the NT, especially Acts, refers not to the indwelling but only to the miraculous empowerment of the Spirit. As is clearly noted in Scripture, the instant one is "in Christ" that person receives the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit is the first installment of our inheritance in Christ (Eph 1:13-14). The men in Acts 8 were in Christ; they were saved, so they had the indwelling of the Spirit. They did not have miraculous empowerment of the Spirit, the empowerment that can be seen and experienced by those other than the one who receives the Spirit.Did you really think this trough?
You agreed the indwelling is receiving the Spirit
The text states they had not received the Spirit
If they were indwelt then according to your own agreement they received the Spirit
The text however states they did not
That is a major contradiction
Again, just because 1 Cor 2:12 and 3:6 speak of the Spirit dwelling in us, and us receiving the Spirit, does not mean that everyone who receives the Spirit has Him dwelling within them. You are applying the meaning of a phrase from one place in Scripture to another place in Scripture where the context does not support the applied meaning. As has been pointed out, Scripture shows that:If a person has received the Holy Spirit is to have the Holy Spirit dwell in them.
1 Corinthians
(2:12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.
(3:6) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Cornelius and the other Gentiles with him received the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:47
Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?
Therefore, they had the Holy Spirit dwell in them - before their water baptism (Acts 10:48).
The Spirit already indwelt them, they only received miraculous empowerment at when He fell ON them at that point. When the Holy Spirit filled those in Acts 2:4 the Holy Spirit dwelt in them.
In your opinion, which we have already established is not Scripture, and so not admissible as evidence in this discussion. The below is Old Covenant so it does not apply.
You are ignoring the point you had agreed withAs I have stated, "receive the Spirit" in most places in the NT, especially Acts, refers not to the indwelling but only to the miraculous empowerment of the Spirit. they only received miraculous empowerment at when He fell ON them at that point.
The indwelling Holy Spirit is a New Covenant work of the Holy Spirit. That is the message of Jeremiah 31:31-34. But the Holy Spirit was received by select individuals throughout the OT and into the NT as well. Those two works of the Holy Spirit are separate and distinct. No proof for your asssertion.

No proof.No proof.
In the New Covenant all who receive the Holy Spirit are indwelt with the Holy Spirit.
10:47 - Received
15:8 - Given
Those who are given the Holy Spirit dwell in God (1 John 4:13)
The Gentiles were given the Holy Spirit before their water baptism which proves they dwelt in God before their water baptism.
No proof.
No proof.Too bad you refer to Acts 15:8 and 1 John 4:13 as such.
Not surprising though.
Campbellism is devoid of the Spirit.
I know you have no proof.I know you have no proof.
