But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
You might be think nothing or that the Holy Spirit is some type of a ghost.
Or you might be think something totally different.
The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right, and spiritual gifts to build up the church and spread the gospel. These are just four thing but there are more.
Acts 1:7–8
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
This gift would help them spread what Jesus had done to the ends of the earth. This gift was the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:1–4
1 When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like that of a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying. 3 They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and rested on each one of them. 4 Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them.
The Holy Spirit came down in a violent rushing wind that filled the whole house. The disciples that were there saw flame tongue rest on them and they began to speak in different languages.
If this is how the Holy Spirit came first then why does he not come like this now? What do we have to do.
Acts 2:38–39
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Where did the Holy Spirit come from?
God sent the Holy Spirit after Jesus went into heaven. You see Jesus was with disciples his followers for a few year and now he was suddenly gone. They had no clue what to do. Right before he went to heaven. He told the disciples to not go anywhere and to wait for this gift that would come. This gift would help them spread what Jesus had done to the ends of the earth. You see the Holy Spirit came on a very big day in the life of the Jewish people The day of Pentecost. So what is Pentecost? Pentecost or Fest of Weeks celebrated fifty days after First Fruits as a harvest celebration praising God for His continued provision. This was a celebration that God had put into place back when the Jewish people left Egypt and where in the dessert. So there would have been a lot of people in the city at this time that way its important. God has sent you a Helper who can guide and lead you
Now, you might be thinking, “Why is the work of the Spirit a conviction for Christians?” There are two reasons to consider. The first is theological: we want to be honest about what the Bible says. If it says these things about the Spirit, then we should assume they are important. Second, if you struggle—with a belief, in your prayer life, with a sin, in sharing your faith with someone else, or with anything else in your life of faith—you can rejoice! You can rejoice because God anticipated your weakness and has sent the Holy Spirit to help you. You can pray to God for more of his Spirit, for wisdom from the Spirit, for strength from the Spirit, for the leading of the Spirit—and trust that he will provide and answer that prayer.Charles F.
