Why there can be no gap between the 69th and 70th week

Here it is in summary. I'm not going to name call , say anyone who disagrees with me is a liar or believing a lie ( against our rules) or any other such thing. I'm premillennial but I'm not dogmatic about it since I believe eschatology is a non essential but I believe the 2nd Coming is essential doctrine.

The “seventy weeks” prophecy is one of the most significant and detailed Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament. It is found in Daniel 9. The chapter begins with Daniel praying for Israel, acknowledging the nation’s sins against God and asking for God’s mercy. As Daniel prayed, the angel Gabriel appeared to him and gave him a vision of Israel’s future.

The Divisions of the 70 Weeks
In verse 24, Gabriel says, “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city.” Almost all commentators agree that the seventy “sevens” should be understood as seventy “weeks” of years, in other words, a period of 490 years. These verses provide a sort of “clock” that gives an idea of when the Messiah would come and some of the events that would accompany His appearance.

The prophecy goes on to divide the 490 years into three smaller units: one of 49 years, one of 434 years, and one 7 years. The final “week” of 7 years is further divided in half. Verse 25 says, “From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’” Seven “sevens” is 49 years, and sixty-two “sevens” is another 434 years:

49 years + 434 years = 483 years

The Purpose of the 70 Weeks
The prophecy contains a statement concerning God’s six-fold purpose in bringing these events to pass. Verse 24 says this purpose is 1) “to finish transgression,” 2) “to put an end to sin,” 3) “to atone for wickedness,” 4) “to bring in everlasting righteousness,” 5) “to seal up vision and prophecy,” and 6) “to anoint the most holy.”

Notice that these results concern the total eradication of sin and the establishing of righteousness. The prophecy of the 70 weeks summarizes what happens before Jesus sets up His millennial kingdom. Of special note is the third in the list of results: “to atone for wickedness.” Jesus accomplished the atonement for sin by His death on the cross (Romans 3:25; Hebrews 2:17).

The Fulfillment of the 70 Weeks
Gabriel said the prophetic clock would start at the time that a decree was issued to rebuild Jerusalem. From the date of that decree to the time of the Messiah would be 483 years. We know from history that the command to “restore and rebuild Jerusalem” was given by King Artaxerxes of Persia c. 444 B.C. (see Nehemiah 2:1-8).

The first unit of 49 years (seven “sevens”) covers the time that it took to rebuild Jerusalem, “with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble” (Daniel 9:25). This rebuilding is chronicled in the book of Nehemiah.

Converting the 360-day year used by the ancient Jews, 483 years becomes 476 years on our solar calendar. Adjusting for the switch from B.C. to A.D., 476 years after 444 B.C. places us at A.D. 33, which would coincide with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9). The prophecy in Daniel 9 specifies that, after the completion of the 483 years, “the Anointed One will be cut off” (verse 26). This was fulfilled when Jesus was crucified.

Daniel 9:26 continues with a prediction that, after the Messiah is killed, “the people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.” This was fulfilled with the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. The “ruler who will come” is a reference to the Antichrist, who, it seems, will have some connection with Rome, since it was the Romans who destroyed Jerusalem.

The Final Week of the 70 Weeks
Of the 70 “sevens,” 69 have been fulfilled in history. This leaves one more “seven” yet to be fulfilled. Many scholars believe that we are now living in a huge gap between the 69th week and the 70th week. The prophetic clock has been paused, as it were. The final “seven” of Daniel is what we usually call the tribulation period.

Daniel’s prophecy reveals some of the actions of the Antichrist, the “ruler who will come.” Verse 27 says, “He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’” However, “in the middle of the ‘seven,’ . . . he will set up an abomination that causes desolation” in the temple. Jesus warned of this event in Matthew 24:15. After the Antichrist breaks the covenant with Israel, a time of “great tribulation” begins (Matthew 24:21, NKJV).

Daniel also predicts that the Antichrist will face judgment. He only rules “until the end that is decreed is poured out on him” (Daniel 9:27). God will only allow evil to go so far, and the judgment the Antichrist will face has already been planned out.

Conclusion
The prophecy of the 70 weeks is complex and amazingly detailed, and much has been written about it. Of course, there are various interpretations, but what we have presented here is the dispensational, premillennial view. One thing is certain: God has a time table, and He is keeping things on schedule. He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), and we should always be looking for the triumphant return of our Lord (Revelation 22:7).got?

hope this helps !!!
I'm almost tempted to study this out But I think I'll go for God' attributes instead

You may need it to skip over, I, and millions of other people have no problem whatsoever with it.
But, obviously you d'man and all wisdom, understanding and knowledge dwells with you.😱

You'll have to forgive my sarcasm, but I really don't understand how I've successfully followed Jesus for the 17028 days before I became aware of you.
🤔
Perhaps the church you're attending isn't teaching it correctly.
🤷🏽
You were given a chance to show atonement was made in the 70 weeks

You did not do it

If you are going to gap over the crucifixion and the atonement made by Christ, where is the atonement for iniquity in the seventy weeks

You have not demonstrated it.

Instead of speculating on what my church teaches, you should be concerned about what scripture teaches and how you can harmonize what you believe with it

I am still waiting for your attempt.

IMPOSSIBLE for Daniel 9:24(70th Week) to not of occurred = No MESSIAH dying for the sins of the world = No 70th Week.

Your 'conclusion' is based on the error of pre-trib rapture which spawns all kinds of errors in denying God's very words.

Go back and read again Daniel chapter 9 - the 70th Week has Come and we await for His Return.

Here is what you missed - the seven year Peace Treaty is contained inside the 70th Week and is NOT the 70th Week.
This is where most stumble over because they have been misled away with pre-trib rapture.

Conclusion: The LORD Jesus Christ first Coming started the 70th Week as foretold in Daniel 9:24
The past 2,000 years the GOSPEL has been going out to all nations as Prophesied by the LORD Jesus Christ.
The GOSPEL is the 70th Week and we have been living inside the 70th Week = "TODAY if you hear His Voice"
This is why the LORD'S ministry was approximately 3.5 years.
When the Antichrist is revealed as prophesied in 2 Thessalonians ch2, the last 3.5 Years of the 70th Week will begin according to God's Timing.

Thanks. I had asked Tom.
But on your point, if you want an argument, sure.
I'm simply asking him questions about his opinions.
I think I clearly laid out why I believe what I believe. From the unnatural reading of the gap to the negating of Christ's atonement, the gap theory entails. How could neglecting Christ's atonement and postponing atonement to some future time by some unknown entity be biblical.

Hard to see how one could skip over Christ's atonement as the answer for atonement for iniquity.

Blinded by the lie of 'pre-trib' rapture.

When you want something so bad you are willing to throw off the RESTRAINT of TRUTH so you can have your Desire.

I was taught the pre-trib, premillenial point of point, but it seems to me to be contrary to what scripture states.

Ditto on 'pre-trib'

Since God never said 'pre-trib', why should anyone believe it?

They believe it because they are told to believe it - but not from God's Mouth.

As a new believer, I was inculcated in it. Curiosity and a desire for truth caused me to seek out why some had other views.

The final seven is illustrated in revelation where the two witnesses preach and do miracles for 3.5 years and then lie dead rotting for 3.5 days. Two sets of 3.5 times. Since the final "seven" is already displayed in scripture, inventing a new theory is unnecessary.

Assuming that the "times" of the prophecy "must be years" is eisegesis.

I tend to be Pre-Wrath which is not Pe Trib but not Post either. I came to it through my own study before any books were written on it in 79. I like to say God led me to see it but I get it that should be taken with a grain of salt for those who see me say it. I'm still though very flexible to change my thoughts on which ever way and I do think there is some weakness in my position. I could be wrong but I just feel it's stronger then other things I've heard.

In early years I was always impressed with the charts that Pre Trib people had made. They could fill up a whole wall of intricate details and picture symbols and I'd always be thinking WOW! Thief in the Night movies in the 70's had these impressively looking charts and one assumes they just knew what they were talking about.

One thing interesting too.......the Apostles while following Jesus in his ministry they had their own chart or way of thinking about the future. If they made it into a chart I'm guessing they must have had to throw it away after Jesus resurrection. They all thought Jesus was going to establish his kingdom RIGHT THEN. I'm guessing it was hard for them to change their thinking.

I'm almost tempted to study this out But I think I'll go for God' attributes instead
#1 Attribute of God = TRUTH = "IAM the Way the TRUTH and the LIFE"

God never lies.

This is why the LORD says: "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the Mouth of God."

#1 Attribute of God is LOVE = "For God so loved the world that HE gave His only Begotten SON....."

#1 Attribute of God is MERCY = "I desire Mercy......and God's Mercy Triumphs over Judgment."

There are a lot of #1 Attributes of God.

i bet you can find 7

Yeah, the seven churches of revelation in chapters 2&3 have the most explicit character development verses. However, if someone imagines themselves as "the city", it's an application to keep sin out of your life.

Well for me

1 Thessalonians 4:15–17 (ESV) — 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

I bought Woolvard's book on Bible prophecy:

Every Prophecy of the Bible: Clear Explanations for Uncertain Times https://a.co/d/3zbvoTM

and his commentary on Daniel.

Daniel (The John Walvoord Prophecy Commentaries) https://a.co/d/6QdmWq9

I also talked to my pastor about it this morning at men's breakfast.
He said the gap between the 69th and 70th week is contained in Daniel 9:24-27.

I'll look at Woolvard this afternoon when I return home from my chores...

I'm not seeing anything that would give reason to believe that the two sevens are occurring together.
Obviously history shows they are not.

if someone imagines themselves as "the city", it's an application to keep sin out of your life.

???
Revelation Chapter 22
14Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates. 15But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. 16“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.

There is a city, there is a kingdom, and that kingdom is God's. As part of the kingdom, we are microcosms of the kingdom, in the same way Jesus was the temple of God, we are the city in which God dwells.

In the realm of our hearts and minds, the thoughts disguising themselves as us, cannot enter to the indwelling tree of life. Because, outside are the dogs, the sorcerers. Outside are the sexually immoral, the murderers. Outside are the idolaters, and everyone who loves to lie and live a life of deception.

Since my application of the scriptures relates also to the world of thoughts and emotions, (so I may love God with all my heart and mind also,) the above relates to thought processes that do not belong and must remain "outside the city"
