There is another aspect of this emptying that we want to discuss in this specific section. It seems that while on earth as a man Christ deliberately refused to exercise his Divine prerogatives to accomplish God’s will. The Scriptures suggest that Jesus did his miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit which descended upon him in all his fullness at the baptism:

"In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens opening and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.’ Mark 1:9-11

"But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you." Matthew 12:28

"And John bore witness: ‘I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, "He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit."’" John 1:32-33

"For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure." John 3:34

"how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him." Acts 10:38

What this basically means is that Christ voluntarily chose to depend on God’s Holy Spirit to enable him to perform his functions and miracles as opposed to trusting in his Divine capabilities. This also explains why it wasn’t until after being anointed with the Holy Spirit that Jesus began his ministry and performed his mighty works:

"On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water.’ And they filled them up to the brim. And he said to them, ‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.’ So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, ‘Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.’ This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him." John 2:1-11

The purpose for depending on the Spirit’s power, it seems, was to show true Christians the blessings that they could experience provided that they refrain from sinning against God. Since Jesus is the only sinless human who walked this earth he was able to operate in the full power of the Holy Spirit. Believers, on the other hand, do not operate within the Spirit’s fullness because of their sinful tendencies. Sin quenches and grieves the Holy Spirit, which therefore prevents him from fully empowering a believer:

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30

"Do not quench the Spirit." 1 Thessalonians 5:19

Yet Christ became the example for believers to emulate, showing what his followers are capable of achieving and experiencing provided that they walk in perfect obedience to the will of God.

Moreover, Jesus’ miracles were performed specifically to prove that he is God’s unique Divine Son:

"‘If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.’ Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands." John 10:37-39

"Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. So the sisters sent to him, saying, ‘Lord, he whom you love is ill.’ But when Jesus heard it he said, ‘This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.’ … Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.’ Martha said to him, ‘I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; I believe that you ARE the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.’ … So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.’ When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out.’ The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, and let him go.’" John 11:1-4, 23-27, 41-44

"Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, "Show us the Father"? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.’" John 14:9-11

Thus, even though his miracles were down through the agency of the Spirit their intention was to prove that Jesus is Incarnate Deity.

And because Jesus didn’t cease to exist as God his followers were able to perform miracles in his name even while he was among them:

"John said to him, ‘Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.’ But Jesus said, ‘Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. For the one who is not against us is for us.’" Mark 9:38-40

"The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!’ And he said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’" Luke 10:17-20

Amen. Praise you, Lord Jesus, praise you! You are eternally worthy of our love, praise, honor, glory and lives. And by your pure grace we will remain forever in love with you, O risen Lord and immortal Savior. Amen.

so it's only "ONE" person sitting on the throne for it's only ONE THRONE. now, let's try this again. he, he, he, who sits is this the A. the one whom you call Father. or B. the Lord JESUS. which one?
He who is above all

The prophetic writings testify that Yahweh reigns as the most high above the entire earth:

“For you, Yahweh, are most high above all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods.” Psalm 97:9

Here is how the Greek version of the Hebrew Bible, commonly referred to as the Septuagint (LXX), renders this text:

“For you are Lord most high (kyrios hypsistos) over all the earth; you are greatly exalted above all gods.” Psalm 96:9

Note that the name Yahweh has been substituted with the Greek word kyrios, meaning Lord. We shall soon see why this is significant.

Amazingly, the NT Scriptures ascribe this very status to the Lord Jesus since he is said to be the One who is above everyone and everything:

“John answered, ‘A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven. You yourselves testify that I said, “I am not the Christ,” but, “I have been sent before him.” He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. This, my joy, therefore is made full. He must increase, but I must decrease. He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness. He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.’” John 3:27-36

The following verses confirm that the Baptist was speaking of the Lord Jesus as coming from above, from heaven itself:

“No one has ascended into heaven, but he who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven.” John 3:13

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38

“He said to them, ‘You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world. I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.’” John 8:23-24

Thus, Jesus is the One who reigns far above every created thing from heaven itself:

“and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, FAR ABOVE ALL rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.” Ephesians 1:19-23

And the reason why he does so is because he is God Almighty in the flesh:

“of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.” Romans 9:5

“For in him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily, and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power… If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.” Colossians 2:9-10, 3:1-4

He who reigns from on high

The Hebrew Bible also proclaims that Yahweh alone sits enthroned on high:

“Yahweh is high above all nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like Yahweh, our God, who has his seat on high,” Psalm 113:4-5

Note, again, how the LXX translates this verse:

“Who is as the Lord our God? who dwells in the high places (en hypselois),” Psalm 112:5 LXX

The obvious answer to the Psalmist’s rhetorical question is that there is none other who seated in the high places like God does.

And yet the book of Hebrews employs the same exact phrasing to describe the Lord Jesus’ ascension into heaven in order to sit at the Father’s right hand:

“… when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (en hypselois);” Hebrews 1:3b

The book of Revelation explicitly tells us that Jesus was caught up to heaven to sit on God’s throne,

“A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child. She cried out in pain, laboring to give birth… The dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. Her child was caught up to God, AND TO HIS THRONE… I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ‘Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, AND THE AUTHORITY OF HIS CHRIST has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.’” Revelation 12:1-2, 4b-5, 10

Which explains why both God and Christ are said to occupy the same exact throne:

“He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the THRONE of God AND OF THE LAMB, in the middle of its street. On this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There will be no curse any more. The THRONE of God AND OF THE LAMB will be in it, and his servants serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no night, and they need no lamp light; for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 22:1-5

Note that it is the one throne, not thrones, of both God and the Lamb that shall be present in the new heavens and earth.

Hebrews gives the reason why Christ could share in the very status which the Psalter says belongs only to God:

“His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power… But of the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.’… But which of the angels has he told at any time, ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?’” Hebrews 1:3a, 8-9, 13

God’s Son is himself God in essence, bearing the very uncreated substance of the Father in all its fullness, and therefore worthy to dwell alongside his Father on high.

You need to think deeper @101G

If you refuse to deal with the passages that teach Jesus is God, I am not wasting my time going further.
You're deluded.
1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but test by the Word of God the spirits if they are of God: Because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Chaverim, do not believe every ruach. [YIRMEYAH 29:8] But test the ruchot (spirits), if they be of Hashem, because many nevi'ei sheker have gone out into the Olam Hazeh.

Beloved, [not every spirit believe], but distinguish the spirits, if [of God they are]! for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

Keep up the good work @Fred

You "try" to sound intellectual but the things of YHVH is spiritually apprehended-and you need to rephrase your questions.
Made Himself of no reputation (ἑαυτὸν ἐκένωσεν).
so we can take this as ... a you cannot answer, because b. You don't Know.

Which explains why both God and Christ are said to occupy the same exact throne:
well if that's true then you calls REVELATION a LIE..... for Revelation states ONLY ONE Sits on the Throne. Listen and Learn, Revelation 4:1 "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter." Revelation 4:2 "And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne." (HERE "ONE" IS ITALICIZE, MEANING IT'S NOT IN THE OT. BUT THE VERY NEXT SHOWS WHY IT'S "ONE" THAT SITS ON THE THRONE.) Revelation 4:3 "And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald."

there ..... "he" is the ONE who sits on the throne. so you ERROR again.

now, 101G will ask you only one more time. who is it that sits on the Throne, a. the one whom YOU calls God/Father, or B. the one whom you calls the Lamb/Son. your answer please.

Revelation 3:21
Revelation 3:21 "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."

Good I like that, so is the Scripture is saying it is the Father who sits on the throne and everyone else is in Him, YES, or NO, remember only "ONE" Sits on the THRONE..... (smile) your answer please.

Upon the throne (epi ton thronon). Epi with the accusative, as in Rev_4:4; Rev_6:2, Rev_6:4.; Rev_11:16; Rev_20:4, but in Rev_4:9, Rev_4:10; Rev_5:1, Rev_5:7; Rev_6:16; Rev_7:15 we have epi tou thronou (genitive), while in Rev_7:10; Rev_19:4; Rev_21:5 we have epi tōi thronōi (locative) with no great distinction in the resultant idea.

3) "And one sat on the throne," (kai epi ton thronon kathemenos) "And upon the throne one was sitting," God the Father, at whose right hand Christ is seated, was upon this central throne in heaven; 1Ki_22:19; Eph_1:20; Heb_1:3; Act_2:34.

Yet, astonishingly, the Hebrew writings speak of One who sits enthroned forever at God’s right hand and who even receives worship from all the nations:

"The LORD says to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’ The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.’ The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head." Psalm 110:1-5

"As I looked, THRONES were placed, and the Ancient of days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. A stream of fire issued and came out from before him; a thousand thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened… I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one LIKE A SON OF MAN, and he came TO the Ancient of Days and was presented BEFORE HIM. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed." Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14

Pay careful to attention to what the prophet Daniel saw: he didn’t see one throne, but thrones, one of which the Ancient of Days, a title for God, occupies. Later on, Daniel sees a human figure who comes with the clouds to receive an everlasting kingdom, implying that he is the occupant of the other throne that the prophet saw.

As we noted earlier, to ascribe such authority to someone other than God would be blasphemous and idolatrous. The only way the Psalter and the prophet Daniel could say such things is if they believed that the Person they were describing wasn’t a mere human being but also fully Divine.

Additional support that this individual is a Divine Being comes from the fact that Daniel sees him riding on the clouds, a function which the OT ascribes to Yahweh:

"An oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them." Isaiah 19:1

"He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind;" Psalm 104:3

As if this weren’t all, Daniel’s Son of Man is even given the service and worship which belongs to God alone! (Cf. Daniel 3:12, 14, 17-18, 28; 6:16, 20; 7:27; Ezra 7:24.)

All of these factors make it abundantly clear that the Psalter and Daniel weren’t seeing someone who was only human, but a man who was both fully Divine and, at the same time, distinct from Yahweh/the Ancient of Days.

And, according to the NT, Jesus is both the Lord who is at God’s right hand as well as that very Son of Man who rules over all the nations and judges them:

"But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?’ And Jesus said, ‘I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.’" Mark 14:61-62

"Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.’" Matthew 19:28

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on HIS glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." Then the righteous will answer him, saying, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?" And the King will answer them, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me." Then they also will answer, saying, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?" Then he will answer them, saying, "Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me." And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.’" Matthew 25:31-46

"The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, JUST AS they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him… And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man." John 5:22-23, 27

"But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, ‘Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’" Acts 7:55-56

"Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11

In this last passage, Paul alludes to Isaiah 45:23 which says:

"By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’"

Paul is making the assertion that Isaiah 45:23 is fulfilled when every knee bends to Jesus in acknowledgement of his universal Sovereignty, that he is the Sovereign Lord of all creation. In other words, Paul is saying that to confess Jesus as Lord is to confess him as Yahweh, the One who holds supreme authority over the entire created realm!

The phrase "sitting at God’s right hand" makes essentially the same point, that Christ has been exalted to the highest level of authority, sharing the very rule of God himself. It conveys the idea of Christ partaking in God’s sovereign control over all creation, that he is supreme over everything that exists (with the exception of his Father of course):

"For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority." Colossians 2:9-10

"Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him." 1 Peter 3:21-22

Too much?

First of all, as Johann has clearly shown, all authority has been granted to Jesus so there is no need for the Father to present Himself.

Second of all, we will be completely destroyed if the Father did in fact present Himself. The Bible clearly says that only Jesus has seen the Father.

No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

Conclusion: You serve a false god the father if he can willy nilly present himself.

Revelation 4:11 "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

O Lord? yes the Lord Jesus. don't need Michelson for that.... (smile), Just READ God Word.

so you did not even KNOW that it is your Lord and Saviour who sat on the THRONE..... what a shame.

now do you two agree.... (smile), yes or No.

101G.

First of all, as Johann has clearly shown, all authority has been granted to Jesus so there is no need for the Father to present Himself.
are you sure?
Second of all, we will be completely destroyed if the Father did in fact present Himself. The Bible clearly says that only Jesus has seen the Father.
again are you sure of that..... (smile).
No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

Conclusion: You serve a false god the father if he can willy nilly present himself.
well now do you agree that it is the Lord Jesus who sits on the THRONE? yes or No.

your answer please.

101G.

well .... don't all answer at once... (smile). there is no math involved.

now can 101G get a witness that it is the Lord Jesus who sits on the throne? (smile) ..... YIKES!
