What is regeneration?

Hello @brightfame,

No it is not. Regenerate is also not a word used in Scripture.

Yes it is. Regeneration is Titus 3:5

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Hello @brightfame52,

I apologise. 🙂 How did I miss that!? There are in fact two usages:-

Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to His mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Which He shed on us abundantly
through Jesus Christ our Saviour;'

(Tit 3:5-6)

'And Jesus said unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
That ye which have followed me,
in the regeneration
when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of His glory,
ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.'

(Mat.19:28)

Interesting verses!

Thank you

Regeneration is implied, its Sanctification of the Spirit 1 Pet 1:2

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Same as in 2 Thess 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Again, the sprinkling happens only AFTER the people consent to obey God. See Exodus 24:3-8. That proves that the accomplishment of the election mentioned in 1 Pet 1:1-3 is consential, vocational, and conditional. Hence, there's nothing unconditional about it, no unconditional regeneration either.

Okay

The obeying is the product of regeneration. Regeneration is needed to obey, and the obeying is the Gospel obedience. And Election preceded it all

You need to prove that. You can begin by showing me where in Exodus 24:3-8 (where the sprinkling of blood is mentioned) is regeneration even mentioned.
Sanctification of the Spirit is regeneration, or the new birth, and its a prerequisite to and causing of obedience for the Elect 1 Pet 1:2

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Have you studied the word draw found in the greek lexicon ?
"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws [ἑλκύσῃ] them, and I will raise them up at the last day." (John 6:44)

In Greek, when ἑλκύσῃ is associated with inanimate objects then ἑλκύσῃ means to physically drag. There is no other way to draw an inanimate object than to be physical and forceful about it such as dragging it.

Humans, on the other hand, are a little bit above inanimate objects. In fact, in Greek a person who is ἑλκύστικος is said to be attractive or winsome, not a autocrat or dictator. In that sense ἑλκύω means to draw by inward power or to lead or to attract and man can choose to follow or not.

The problem that we're having with Reformed theology is that it has been led astray so much by the anti-Bible doctrine of Total Depravity that it ends up treating humans as inanimate objects.

ImCo:
regeneration is our rebirth and occurs when GOD cures us from the enslaving addiction to evil thus restoring our free will.

Though we now then have a free will, the newly regenerated - reborn person still has (strong) memories and attachments to the pleasures and profits of sin so we must be trained to righteousness to only choose the righteous option of every choice. This training is done by disciplines, that is, sufferings, of lighter or deeper painfulness every time we choose unrighteousness as per the description of this training in Hebrews 12:5-11.

You continue to totally avoid the "sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ" phrase. That's not how Bible studies are done.

On the other hand, I've addressed everything in that verse, including the foreknowledge of the Father, the sanctification of the Spirit, the obedience of people, and the sprinkling of blood. That's how Bible studies should be done.

From my study of the word draw, I understand it to be regeneration or new birth. And unless that occurs from a Divine Source, man cannot believe in Jesus, not the Jesus of scripture, who died exclusively for the saved.

If that was the case then whenever someone draws a sword (for example) then it will get regenerated or it will receive a new birth. I'm sure you can see how totally false that Calvinist position is.

I dont know what you talking about. But Drawing and Regeneration/New Birth are equivalent, and unless that occurs first, man has no ability to believe in the True Jesus Christ

I would even say that drawing is nothing short of a spiritual resurrection as well. Since man naturally is dead in sin, dead to God and spiritual things.

No free-willer is going to change his/her mind on this. They want to take at least a modicum of credit for their salvation. Since God never says He chooses someone due to any type of merit, they have to invent their own merit, i.e., their free will choice.
