You know what they WEREN'T called... SELF-righteous.
Jesus bestowed imputed righteousness by faith upon them.

It doesn’t say anywhere they had righteousness imputed, it says they were righteous. You know what they WEREN'T called... SELF-righteous.

Of course, "after" God first quicken them to life by the same power that resurrected Jesus from the dead.Job was called righteous , Noah, Abraham, Lot, Abel and Daniel

No arguments from me on what you say.Hello dear mattie . how about a real simple reminder .
WHEN GOD spoke abraham BELIEVED .
WHEN JESUS spoke many did not BELEIVE .
If one hears not CHRIST they hear not GOD .
if they beleive NOT HIS WORDS then even if they cliam to beleive , SORRY THEY DONT BELEIVE HIM .
now that outta knock the boots and scare the socks off of most all of even christendom .
For many even say WE BELEIVE IN YOU DEAR JESUS yet SURE DONT SEEM to beleive ALL HIS WORDS .
pretty scary aint it . WHY DID THE ISRAELITES NOT get to enter into the PROMISED LAND .
A hint , it was not because they said OH WE DONT BELIEVE IN GOD , its because they did not BELIEVE GOD .
I HIGHLY SUGGEST WE ALL BIBLE UP and START BELEIVING AS DO A CHILD HIS WORDS . just a friendly reminder .
Of course no man can lay claim on God's blessing, since the very source of such men having any righteousness in a practical sense, is owing to God first giving them the power to do righteous deeds, apart from which no man can.And many, many more such references to human righteousness. Most such references to human beings as righteous are using the terminology in a relative sense. That is, a righteous man is one who conforms to the requirements of God's law in a general way in in his heart, as compared with the unrighteous or wicked whose hearts are turned against God and His commandments. "The righteous" are those who have a measure of piety and good works, of trust in and dependence upon God, that makes it proper for them to be called righteous in comparison with the wicked. While such incomplete and relative righteousness is not sufficient to establish any kind of legal or moral claim upon God's blessings, nevertheless God is pleased with such righteousness and chooses to bless those who possess it.
Oh i never said what jim wrote was not true .No arguments from me on what you say.
Many today do not believe.
You speak the truth.
But that does not offset or counter that what Jim wrote to be true
"For by grace are ye saved through faith". Therefore, the gift isn't grace and it is not faith. It is salvation (by grace through faith).
The gift is salvation... and that is obtained through faith,, bestoed by God through His Grace and Mercy because
God is willing to forgive us and bless us abundantly, in spite of the fact that we don’t deserve to be treated so well or dealt with so generously.
But that does not mean a blanket forgiveness no matter what because without repentance then God's gift
of salvation will not be there. For without faith it is impossible to please Him. And without repentance our faith is lukewarm at best because ... as you have said.... "THEY DONT BELEIVE HIM ."
Perhaps another reminder on this my friend .We don't even NEED a Gospel if we're not depraved.
That's the whole POINT of grace.
nowhere in the entire bible does it say any of them were quickened to life. In fact a couple times it say God found a righteous man, not that He quickened them to make them righteous.Of course, "after" God first quicken them to life by the same power that resurrected Jesus from the dead.
Ephesians 1:19,20
“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”
Christ's body was body was dead, just as sinner (or, I should say sinners are dead just as the person of Christ was dead) and it took the same power to bring both alive, not a bit less than what brought Jesus' body out of the grave. This is the gospel taught by Paul, and by every child of God, whose eyes have been open to the truth. I believe there are some of God's children that have not totally grasp the understanding of this truth for whatever reason, known only to God. Our prayer is for them is seen in this verse:
Ephesians 1:18,19a
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward....................."
The flesh certainly played no part in one's salvation from sin and condemnation based upon a scriptures I quoted above in one of my post~maybe in another thread.
Ephesians 4:22
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;”
The old man is our sinful flesh, the image of Adam we all received at conception, and this flesh we live in is corrupt with not the least of good in it, impossible. It is spiritually separated from the image of God, that does have the power to do good, believe and live righteous before God. This is the truth of the gospel of God taught to us from his word.
What happened to Robert Schuller and the Crystal Cathedral should be a lesson to all.Oh i never said what jim wrote was not true .
My example was more of those who lip His name and yet sure seem to love another version of Him , which friends romans and countrymen ,
THAT AINT JESUS they follow . Its one that has come in His name and produced an image of him
that serveth The dark one and their sins . In other words satan is being worshipped and they have no idea
that is who is behind this all inclusive interfaith love junk . IT has made the path to GOD very broad and sin accepting .
GOD WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT . but satan would for he has always desired the worship .
The scariest thing for me to see in this church age , and i mean FOR THEM not me , is to watch
how quickly the churches have come to merge more and more under what they all believe is GOD and HIS LOVE
only IT AINT friend . ITS a live and let live , judge not correct not and even honor evil type of love .
Making two things , this love has turned , what they think is GOD , into a minstir of sin
and accepts other religoins as valid too . Man that wont bode well unto all who loved this lie and beleived it was love and of GOD .
but the flesh loveth what pleases the flesh and far too many are led of the flesh and beleive its the SPIRIT they are led of my friend .
name one place in the New that states what you claim about thosw I named who were called righteous prior to God calling them.I'm sorry you reject the New Testament having authority to interpret the Old.
I guess you reject the Trinity too.
But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly,
his faith is accounted for righteousness, (Rom. 4:5 NKJ)
The Concept of Being Quickened (Made Alive) in the Bible:nowhere in the entire bible does it say any of them were quickened to life. In fact a couple times it say God found a righteous man, not that He quickened them to make them righteous.
I'm specifically talking about specific men God called righteous not everyone. The Concept of Being Quickened (Made Alive) in the Bible:
Ephesians 2:1, 5 – “And you He made alive (συνεζωοποίησεν – synezōopoiēsen), who were dead in trespasses and sins.” This explicitly states that believers were quickened (made alive) by God.
John 5:21 – “For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life (ζῳοποιεῖ – zōopoiei), even so the Son gives life to whom He will.”
Romans 8:11 – “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life (ζῳοποιήσει – zōopoiēsei) to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Did God Find Righteous Men, or Did He Make Them Righteous?
Genesis 6:9 – “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time.” This verse states that Noah was righteous, but it does not explicitly say whether this was due to his own effort or God's work in him.
Genesis 15:6 – “And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” This suggests that righteousness was imputed to Abraham due to faith, not inherent righteousness.
Romans 4:5 – “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.”
Conclusion:
While the Bible does mention God finding righteous men, it also teaches that righteousness is something God grants or imputes. Additionally, Scripture does teach that people are "quickened to life" spiritually by God, particularly in relation to salvation in the New Testament.
Thus, your statement, as it stands, is not fully correct.
J.
A lot of things happened after the resurrection of Christ, as I'm sure you would agree.I'm specifically talking about specific men God called righteous not everyone.
I'm not a Calvinist and men are depraved, by nature. And the problem is many/most have bought into the false concept of total depravity so they cannot accept God could call anyone righteous.
