Christ died for all that those who believe would be saved

John 3:14–17 (NKJV) — 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Hebrews 2:9 (LEB) — 9 but we see Jesus, for a short time made lower than the angels, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that apart from God he might taste death on behalf of everyone.

Another blessing that accompanies the death of Christ, that is those He died for shall be sanctified by the Truth Jn 17:17-20

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself[through death], that[for the purpose] they also might be sanctified through the truth.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

This wasn't just for His Apostles, but for all who will believe through their word. The cause of their believing is having the Gospel testified to them, all this is because Christ sanctified himself for their sakes.

The Bible says Jesus died for all people, all sins (Romans 5:18, 1 Timothy 2:6, 1 Timothy 4:10, Titus 2:11).

CALVINIST TWIST: “Yes, but Jesus wouldn’t waste His blood on those who are predestined for hell, so Jesus really didn’t die for all people, just all kinds of people, all the elect.” (Once again, starting from their own presuppositions.)

A good debate, but may I suggest @brightfame52 is not up for the debate? Selective scripture verses and correct-Christ died for ALL.

1. John 1:29
"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, 'Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'"

Greek word: kosmos (κόσμος) – meaning world or universe, emphasizing the universal scope of Christ’s atoning death for all people, not just a select group.

2. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
"For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and rose again."

Greek word: hyper (ὑπὲρ) – meaning "on behalf of" or "for the benefit of," indicating that Christ's death was for everyone, and not just for a particular group.

3. 1 John 2:2
"And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world."

Greek word: holos (ὅλος) – meaning whole or entire, indicating the full extent of Christ’s sacrifice, applicable to all of humanity.
4. 2 Peter 3:9

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."

Greek word: pas (πᾶς) – meaning all or every, stressing that God's desire is for every person to come to repentance, not for any to be lost.

5. Romans 5:18
"Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life."

Greek word: pantes (πάντες) – meaning all or everyone, again showing that Christ’s act of righteousness applies to all.

6. Hebrews 2:9
"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone."

Greek word: huper (ὑπὲρ) – meaning for or on behalf of, used to indicate that Christ died for all people, not just a select group.

7. John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Greek word: kosmos (κόσμος) – again meaning world, emphasizing the universal love of God and Christ’s sacrifice for everyone.

8. Romans 14:9
"For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living."

Greek word: pas (πᾶς) – meaning all, emphasizing that Christ's death and resurrection were for both the living and the dead, and for all in between.

9. 1 Timothy 2:6
"Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."

Greek word: pas (πᾶς) – meaning all, stressing that Christ gave Himself as a ransom for all people.

10. Titus 2:11
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men."

Greek word: pas (πᾶς) – meaning all, indicating the universal offer of salvation through Christ’s grace.

Where you err-

Christ Died Only for Believers--your statement

Statement: "Christ died for all that become believers in Him- Christ died only for believers."

Greek Clarification: The New Testament teaches that Christ’s death was intended for all, yet it has effect only for those who believe.

John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..."

Greek word: kosmos (κόσμος) – meaning "world," indicating the scope of Christ's sacrifice is for all people.

1 John 2:2 also confirms this: "And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world."

The phrase "Christ died only for believers" would be incorrect in the context of the universal offer of Christ's sacrifice.

Christ died for all people, but only those who believe benefit from the salvation He provides.

The distinction between potential benefit (for all) and actual benefit (for believers) is critical.

Christ's death provides deliverance from God's wrath to all (Romans 5:9), but its actual application is dependent on faith (John 3:36). While Christ's death makes salvation possible, it does not automatically deliver anyone from wrath unless they believe (Romans 5:1).

Believing in Christ is a gift of grace (Philippians 1:29), made possible by Christ's atoning death. However, it is not automatically given to all but must be received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Christ died for all (1 John 2:2, John 3:16), but the actual salvation resulting from His death is only for believers (John 3:18). The universal offer of salvation through His death is available, yet only those who believe receive the benefits of that sacrifice.
