The Water Baptism of 1 Corinthians 12:13

Jesus is the healer.

He heals via His spoken name by believers....

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

...which has not ended with the death of the Apostles.
So you have the gift of healing? I'm confused by your claims. Either you are or you are not.

The difference between Apostles and the rest of us mere mortals. Notice I'm using the Bible not my opinion. :)

Luke 1:1-2

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.

Ephesians 2:19-20
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

Acts 1:21-22
Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."

1 Corinthians 9:1-2

Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not the result of my work in the Lord? 2 Even though I may not be an apostle to others, surely I am to you! For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:8-9
8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God

Acts 9:15
But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.

Revelation 21:14
The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

The Apostles also performed miracles, signs and wonders as confirmation they were sent by God/Christ. Acts 2:43 cf 2 Corinthians 2:12

FACTS below from the above

1- Must be an eyewitness of Jesus Resurrection
2- Must be chosen by Christ
3- They are the foundation the church was built upon
4- The last Apostle was Paul- last of all Jesus appeared to me ( Paul)
5- Jesus appoints them as His chosen instruments.
6- There are only 12 foundation stones which are the 12 Apostles- not 13, 50, 100, 1000 etc...... only 12
7- Those Apostles performed miracles, signs and wonders at will proving they were Jesus chosen 12 just as He performed those same miracles, signs and wonders authenticating their message was directly from God.

hope this helps !!!

Absolutely. Everyone seems to what to be the "eyes" or "ears" of the Body of Christ.

1Co 12:12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
1Co 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
1Co 12:14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.
1Co 12:15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
1Co 12:16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
1Co 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?
1Co 12:18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.

And they miss the hierarchy set up by Christ

Jesus
Apostles
Prophets
Pastors
Elders
Teachers
Deacons
Men
Women
Children

In that order is how God designed His church to operate and function. God is a God of order and design. In both families there is rank and order . In the human family and the spiritual family , the church. It a reflection of Gods very own nature. :). Many kick against the pricks when I say this but it’s true nevertheless.

If a person has a particular gift, God gifts them to do his work. It is working through them. It is not built into our being. Everything comes from him. Look at Peter with the lame man. He said God did it by Jesus name. Even Peter being used so mightily claimed that he had no power of his own. But it was God using the name of Jesus spoken by Peter. God makes things happen to make things happen.

I think you are very confused. Do you think those that have a gift possess the gifts power. It is God using a person by his power through them. They don’t contain the power. You better start reading your Bible a little harder.

It is shameful that you ignore Matthew 28:19.
Fred,
Matt 28:19 is not on your side of this argument.
Matt 28:19 lists three things that the Apostles, and through them each teacher of the Gospel today, were supposed to do.
First, they were to Go.
Then they were to Make Disciples (learners).
Then they were to Baptize those Disciples.

These are all things that the Apostles, and we, are to DO.
This is not "Spirit Baptism" because that is not something that we can do.
And when we consider that Mark 16:16 is another writer's (Mark's) rendering of this same event (and that it is also inspired by the Holy Spirit), and that in Mark we are told that belief of the Gospel message and baptism (the thing the Apostles (and we) were commanded to do) leads to salvation, we must come to the conclusion (if we are honest with ourselves and Scripture) that the baptism in Matthew is water baptism that leads to salvation, not something that follows after salvation.

I never claimed that Matthew 28:19 teaches otherwise.

Thanks for posting a lot of nothing that refutes my position.

Try again.

You claim that water baptism follows after salvation is received. That is completely an unbiblical position, and Matt 28:19 is part of the proof of that. But of course, you cannot see that because you are stuck in your denial of Biblical truth.
