Jesus denied being God

Thomas

John 20:28–29 (KJV 1900) — 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Christ commend those who have not seen but believe

that is good enough for me

Thomas thought Christ was dead, but came to believe He was alive.
You believe that Christ is alive.
I believe that Christ is alive.
@Peterlag believes that Christ is alive.

So, let's love each other as if we truly believed He is alive.
Otherwise Christ is still dead for us.

Thomas called Him bot Lord and God and worshipped Him in the passage.

If He is not God then Jesus allowed Thomas to commit the sin of idolatry.

It is quite important to accept the full testimony of Christ Jesus. He is our king without any others

Luke 24: Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy

Matthew 28- And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him

Conclusion: Jesus is God just as Thomas confessed.

Hope this helps !!!

Uh oh. What is that doctrine being revealed in these last several sentences? It sounds like legalism and works of the law are part of runningman's doctrine. Or else what is the counter doctrine being proposed here?
Hyper grace is probably one of the biggest problems for Protestants. Are you one of the types who considers abstinence from sin legalism or a work?

what did you state your doctrine is?
You always pretend to be this teacher leading people into understanding. In reality, you are just being evasive.

The topic was Protestants and their doctrines. You're trying to change the subject and when I don't follow your lead you now say I am evading. You have a lot of nerve to be calling me evasive.

Perhaps you mean "it is important we know who the winner of the argument is"

Jesus showed interest in Christology once during his ministry and asked his disciples who the people thought he was.
By the time Jesus asked this, He had already healed a lot of people... regardless on whether these people thought Jesus was Elijah, or John the Baptist, or another prophet, or the Messiah, or just a good healer.
Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was.
Peter gave an answer: "You are the Messiah, the Son of God".

Jesus didn't contradict Peter.
Jesus didn't add a detailed explanation.
Jesus didn't dig deeper into Peter's mind to find out what exactly he meant
Jesus praised that answer, saying it had been revealed by The Father.

The people who participate in this thread, such as @Peterlag, @Runningman, @civic, @synergy, you and me, share Peter's conviction.
So, why would any of us think that Jesus demands from us a knowledge that He didn't demand from Peter?

If Jesus appeared to me right now and asked me "Who do you say I am?" I would reply as Peter.
Yes, I am very lazy on these things. I prefer to be on the safe side.
The problem would come when Jesus asked me "If you say I am the Messiah, the Son of God, why don't you do what I tell you?"
Yes. Peter was blessed and rewarded. Compare to Thomas' answer in which he was not blessed. The answer the Father revealed had nothing to do with Jesus being God even in the slightest bit.

Sorry. I will wait patiently then.
Hyper grace. We got anyone who believes in that here? Pretty sure they believe something like one can enjoy their life of sin and still go to heaven.

Regardless of everything else... do you agree the final judgement is works based?

I value very much your humbleness in declaring that you don't know some things.
But in this occasion, let me be a bit harsh. It is not about you, my brother. Please don't take it personal. I'm gonna be harsh on purpose, just for the sake of the debate.

If I am not sure about God granting salvation to me and my human fellows... well, what a waste of time debating on the Trinity!

I invite you, @civic, @synergy, @Runningman and @TomL to participate in the thread "The doctor and his four patients: A Parable of Faith and Works".

If I'm right. That there is no trinity. And that it's something the Catholics invented which is a false concept that they enforced by torturing and killing anyone who did not agree with them for 15 hundred years until folks started splitting away from them who were also all Catholic. If I'm right. Then yeah... the trinity folks do not know who God is or who Jesus was or who the resurrected Christ is and have no clue what the spirit is. So I often wonder what do they consider is Christianity. It's an honest question. When they ask me trinity questions that make no sense to me is when they say I'm not answering questions. Or that I'm ignoring the question. When I ask a question that makes no sense to them I get crickets. Well, I did not ask the question to them. I asked it to @Runningman

Will you proclaim as did Thomas and be blessed

John 20:28–29 (KJV 1900) — 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

or will you be a denier and miss the blessing

Why would I miss the blessing?
Jesus Christ is alive and victorious. I can testify of that.
I have touched Him. I have kissed his hands and his feet. I have had dinner with him. He has melt my heart with love and I have seen Him returning in the glory of the Father. I have been raised from the dead and exalted in heaven. Yes, I am a citizen of his Kingdom and enjoy his blessings every single day… here in Mexico City.

Regarding who was the God of Thomas and the God of Jesus… well, Jesus had already said something about it a couple of days before. If
Anyone is interested, please look in John 20:13.

Jesus did not contradict Peter's answer because Peter gave the correct answer.
God bless you, Peterlag.
His answer was indeed correct, and it was correct not because of Peter’s intellect and academic investigations.
The Father had revealed it to him.
How humble, then, I should be when I address a friend who still doesn’t know what I know.
Whatever part of my understanding of the Messiah happens to be correct, I owe it to the Only and True God.

I know who was the God of Thomas, Andrew, Simon, Peter, Jude, Bartholomew, James, the other James, Philip, Matthew and John.
It was the same God that Jesus worshiped and loved. (John 20:13): His Father. Their Father. My Father.

To Him I pray tonight, asking that you and your beloved ones continue to be blessed. Good night, civic and everyone.

i hope you can also be justified in Christ

The blessing is for those who confess Jesus Christ as their lord and their God

Luke 24: Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy

Amen

Creatures are not to be worshiped. Christ would have been at fault had he accepted worship were he not who Thomas proclaimed him.
