It was all part of the initial plan.

Since the Peshitta NT dialect fails to match the Aramaic inscriptions during the time Jesus walked the Earth, then historicans surmise the Peshitta NT dialect was not the language originally used for the NT, so Greek is considered the original language of the NT.
The evidence of Classical Syriac starts to appear around the turn of the 3rd century AD, and Classical Syriac came to dominate literature around the 5th century while the tell-tale inflective forms that Old Syriac language shared with Judean (Aramaic) disappeared without a later documented occurrence.
Essentially, the indications are that the Peshitta NT is a publication of the 4th century AD at the earliest.
