Your Views on The Trinity

If there is a trinity then why not just come out and say it? Why do we have to jump all over the Bible cutting and pasting pieces of words that are scattered allover the Bible? Why not just teach it? I know enough about how the Bible is written in the New Testament and in the Gospels to know if there was a trinity it would have been taught. The Gospels would have clearly said...

Verily, verily I say unto you that I am Jesus and I'm also God.

The Epistles would have writings like...

Yay, I Paul do testify that Jesus who is God came down from heaven to be a man for us. And we do know and testify that this same Jesus who you crucified is God. And so let us bow our knee to the one and only true God-Man Jesus Christ.

And yet there's nothing like that anywhere. Not in the Old or New Testament. Not even one complete verse like that.

Right. So true. And while we are at it... how come didn't God give us a picture bible in the original Greek?

If God intended to remain completely mysterious, He wouldn’t have sent prophets to reveal His will. Only Trinitarians insist on worshiping a God shrouded in mystery, borrowing Greek philosophy to justify their confusion and leading others down a path of deception and destruction.

wow. so you knew who the Messiah would be an what would happen base solely on the prophets? It is amazing how more advanced Peterlag is even beyond Jesus-- if we understand Peterlag correctly.

Great question
Profound ANSWER = Matthew 13:34-35

All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, 35that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

“I will open My mouth in parables;
I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”

We don't need parables anymore. We can now understand spiritual matters since we now have holy spirit born within.

Many today make the claim of having the Holy Spirit but few actually do.

And even amongst the many who do have the Holy Spirit, few obey the Commandment of God concerning His words.

Since most Christians believe the Trinity is a mystery and not to be understood is a huge reason why doctrinal discussions about it are often avoided or brushed aside and ignored. Worse, the teaching that the Trinity is a “mystery” has been used as a club to beat down doubters and dissenters, and those people are often branded as “heretics” and their role in Christianity minimized.

Doubters are not a problem. I questioned the divinity of Christ for several years largely from reading Paul's letters. Then I realized that the reason for speaking of God and Christ in the letters is that Christ Jesus has a special distinction due to his incarnation. It is not a rejection of his divinity in the Godhead. I then show in Gal 3:19-20 that the divinity of Christ in the Godhead explains the passage by virtue of Paul's introduction of the Shema (Deut 6:4) in v 20.

No need to jump all over the Bible.

Just read a simple verse an be honest about a question that is asked of you.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;
Genesis 1:26

Who made man is the image of God?

Oppppssss... my mistake. It was @Runningman who wrote...

The error all trinitarians make in the first place is that they begin with assuming the trinity exists and then provide the things they say are evidence of the trinity. They cannot provide any actual evidence that anyone ever agreed with.
Want a fun experiment that will make every trinitarian squirm? Ask them to provide evidence that anyone practiced Trinitarianism in Scripture. They'll probably quote their usually handful of verses scattered all around the New Testament, but don't let up. Ask them where anyone identified or defined God as "three persons who are one God" or where anyone worshipped or prayed to the Trinity. They won't have any solid, definitive, explicit answers. It's because the Trinity is fake.

Placing the burden on the Christians may be your way of avoiding addressing the scriptures that testify to the Triune essence of God. The unitarian heretics want a picture bible instead of one that takes you into intimate understanding of Christ. Peterlag claims more understanding than all the prophets of the OT ... as if he is the only one who could discern all that Christ could be or could not be. The Trinitarian understanding is simply the effort to understand how Christ's divinity, as evidenced in scripture and even in early 2nd century worship makes sense in light of God being one. God is not one-dimensional, as the unitarians like to imagine.

When I was a teenager I went to a Trinitarian church. It was pretty unanimous that no one really wanted to get into the Trinity. Yeah, they would mention it sometimes, but no one would really explain what it is.

They put me with someone older than me to run around with and do whatever most of the time. So I asked him what the Trinity is. He broke eye contact with me, looked around, went into thought, tried to find the words but really didn't know what to say. I could tell how uncomfortable he was so I just changed the subject so we could move on. He seemed relieved.

I stayed there with them for a couple years before moving on with my life. They were good people and I liked them a lot, but I was heading out of state for a long time. However, based on my experience, the Trinity isn't something most of them really know how to talk about and explain. I can't say for sure, but most of them probably don't actually believe it themselves.

I remember it being a stumbling block for me and it almost ruined my concept of God. Probably wasn't until 10 years later I picked up the Bible again and started studying on my own and praying again. Once they were out of the picture is really when I started really learning about who the Biblical God is.

Thanks. That helps my curiosity.

The burden of proof is squarely on folks such as yourself to prove that God is a Trinity. You should be able to show a wealth of Scripture of people practicing Trinitarian ideas, describing God as a Trinity, etc. None of that exists in all of Scripure. It's actually textbook eisegesis to say a book says something when it does not contain any statements or observations about the thing you're saying it does.

So. You really want people in the second century, who had not had opportunity to reconcile the divinity of Christ and the Holy Spirit to have already expressed the Trinitarian doctrine? That is a bit anachronistic.. You have to pretend like all divine knowledge suddenly came to them.

@mikesw I am sure you have read Acts, but read it again. The early church were Unitarian because that's the concept of God that Jesus taught them.

The burden of proof is with Elohim.

2nd century proto-Trintiarians were not what you would consider orthodox. Most didn't believe Jesus was co-equal with God nor the Holy Spirit a third person. They wouldn't fit in at your church. But I want you to prove the Trinity using evidence from the Bible that it is a concept of God they actually believed in.

I am not saying quote a verse here and there that seems to suggest Jesus is God and say "wow look he's a member of the trinity!" I am just asking you to show where anyone, at any time, made any conclusive statements about their belief in God matches yours.
