How we got our Bible

Why did God give us teachers?
As Paul tells us in Ephesians 4- to equip the saints building up the body to do the work of the ministry.

Ephesians 4:12
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Why did God give us teachers? Isn’t that obvious?
We would not know anything about Him if He didn’t. I would think anyway. And if He loves us, I believe He would want us to know about Him.
Psalm 19:1-6: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.

If you teach people the gospel and who Jesus is, they will know the father. To me it's not a case of "if" He Loves us, that question has already been settled.

The title of this thread says "how we got the Bible". The "we" is referring to very specifically the Christians in the West. What most do not recognize is that Christianity is an "eastern religion". There is a huge history of Christians in the east. I never heard this talked about in the church when I was growing up. Or even when I attended seminary.
Christianity also traveled east by the apostles early on. Through the Parthian empire, to Edessa, to Babylon, through India all the way to China. There is still a stone marker in China that lists the missionaries that first came to that land during the first millennium.
The Bible that was in use all through this time was not in Greek. It was in Aramaic. There is much history we are not aware of.

No.... everyone recognizes the cultural and geographical origins of Christianity, it is not some great mystery that blows our minds.

With that mindset you will think you found some special thing that preempts all the hard work done in studying Christian origins.

The Eastern Orthodox are just one of many branches of Christianity, they are not any different and closer to the truth.

This is just factually incorrect. And used by a lot of snake oil spiritual salesman, like the author of the Passion Translation.

The Bible was written in many languages since the time of Christ, and comes to us in Hebrew, a little Aramaic, and Greek.

There is not some super secret Aramaic version that is way closer to the original that everyone has somehow missed.

well...

the kjv is a sorcery text itself derived from those
who did not listen to His prophets
got into captivity...
got cursed...

the vision was sealed

he's talking about the corrupt scroll
and versions thereof
---- corrupt on purpose
not that he admits that

...anyway

the source of His Words
- his reality -
is in the other world...

sure some events He talks about
happen here
however much of prophets
has transcendent context
and shows events in the other reality,
not this earth

that relate to when eden fell
in the other reality
and what will happen for us
who are His souls
at end time...

He has no interest in the cultural
history of the corrupt flesh body
and its man-made governments
and civilization
... we are to die to this world

all this history will be wiped out
and no one will remember it

God has preserved his words throughout time.

The message has not been lost or corrupted in these original manuscripts, imperfect as they may be.

none of the copies are originals...

the only reason anything got written down
was because no more could man hear Him
... the ot pharisees ignored His prophets

...such that all that was written down was
vulnerable to corruption

Christianity is not an "eastern religion." Its from wherever the strongest number of Spirit filled believers are to be found today.

God may have chose to hatch the egg in the east, but them chickens are now to be found everywhere.

God in his omnipresence has no location.

the only solution is to find His Words
in between the corrupt ones...
listen to Him and
be your own translator

Those today who have the rare gift of having photographic memories were the ones back then who were recruited to make the copies.

Do you believe God preserved his Word in these manuscripts?

Getting you to answer yes or no is like pulling teeth.

Maybe someday civic will stop covering it over.

Unless God gives you that gift? To tell others to be their own translator is an invitation for disaster. Seen it happen.

According to, Hebrew 4:12, “the word of God is alive and active. The description of the Bible as “living” means that it has a vital power inherent to itself. Jesus likened the Word of God to seed in Mathew 13. Seed, like the Bible, is not dead, but living, and it has the ability to bring forth more life abundantly.
