Well, EG, brother, I'm saying this in a nice way.
The world does not revolve around YOU.
So you can not show me anyone who believes this. no one in this chatroom. anyone??
It does not resolve around you either. but if your going to make a statement, at least you can back it up
I've had to read many posts, probably more than you, and let me tell you, YES, these persons exist.
I have been in chat rooms for over 10 years. how long have you been in them?
I have been all over my country as I lived in different parts being in the military and have had conversations with many many people from all walks of life and many churches.
so I would doubt you have read or discussed more than me
but that does not matter
if you have seen them, show me one, so I can talk to him and find out what he is coming from.
Do you know them?
Probably one of them, but I'm not naming names.
one?
You talk in here as if many many people do this.. almost every post you say your fighting this curse.. yet you say we might know 1?
who are you fighting against then?
And there was one guy on ChristianChat that devoted all his time to telling everyone that our works are filthy rags....
you know HIM...but not naming names.
Well the bible does tell us that
Isaiah 64:6
But
we are all like an unclean thing, And
all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
the hebrew word there is
id-dim - filthy is actually a bad translation. the literal translation is a menstrual rag. or menstration. it speaks of a woman's monthly cycle. and the rag which soaks up all the blood. Isaiah is stating plainly. Handin gour works to God and expecting him to take these as payment for sin is like handing him the bloody rag from un unclean woman.
This is how it is EG....
Some persons on these boards have been taught that we need to rely SOLELY on ourselves.
This is known as monergism. I know you hate isms, but that's the word.
Monergism states it is solely the work of God. we have no part. even faith is us trying to earn salvation. so they reject it.. So why would you call them people who rely on themselves??
yes, I hate isms, and it seems you made a mistake. did you mean synergism? they rely on themselves.. although I think they say self and God.
God is a relatinship.
Good.
Any relationship is TWO-SIDED....
This is knows as synergism.
yes
But until one is saved. there is no relationship. the relationship was severed because of sin, spiritual death is the result.
we must be saved, rescued from the wage of sin before the relationship can be restored.
this is done by grace through faith.
Once the relationship is restored. yes it takes two people. but that is the relationship.. the relationship may be good or bad at times. But it is still there. it is never severed, because it was never earned.
in essence we are saved by monergism (where faith is included) and our christian growth is through synergism.
Synergism is what is taught in the bible.
For salvation no it is not
God did HIS part....He atoned for our sins....the gates of heaven have been opened...no more Abraham's Bossom.
That the only part that saves. it is the payment which allows God to even offer us the gift of grace.
Now it's time to do OUR part....
Our part is one thing, to recieve his gift in faith.
obey Jesus.
DO as he taught.
Then your under law not under grace.
there is no way to spin this sis.
There are two ways to heaven in scripture
1. the law - requires perfection.. everyone on earth is disqualified including you and me
2. Grace, based on the cross. Given to those who receive in faith
any other gospel is to be anathema
Yes. There some nuance here....
but I believe it's important to be clear.
Gnosticism was already crawling into the church before John died.
Agree
This is why he said THEY LEFT US BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT OF US (not yelling)...
But it is not just them who leave
John did not call them gnistic.
he called them antichrists.
they walk with us, and talked with us, meaning they claimed or said they were part of us (had faith)
then they walked away. and now reject Christ,
they were never saved.. It is not just gnostics who do this
but this is taken to mean that they were not really saved.
Which, really doesn't mean too much,,,,,many LISTEN and then they don't like what they hear and they leave.
Just like Jesus said in John 6....when He asked if the Apostles also would leave.
It does not mean they were saved, then became lost....
It just doesn't apply AT ALL.
we could use this argument for anyone who walks away, unless they are prodigal children
the key word is they are now unbeievers. they reject christ, they are antichrist.
they do this
22 Who
is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23
Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
I believe this is where we disagree.
Our faith is in the work of God.
The Cross.
Agreed.
Mine is yes, from the day I called out until right now. My faith is in the work of God.
But you have NO faith in YOUR works?
To save me? Absolutely not.
those works are called self righteous works.. we are not doing them to serve God we are doing them to serve self (we expect salvation or we expect to stay saved. or keep from losing salvation based on those works)
And yet we are told to pay attention to do them:
- Matthew 5:16:
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
- Titus 3:8:
"This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to affirm it constantly: that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men."
- Galatians 6:9-10:
"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the household of faith."
- Hebrews 10:24-25:
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good works, not abandoning our assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near."
- 1 Timothy 6:17-18:
"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be arrogant or to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share."
- Ephesians 2:10:
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
- James 2:26:
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead."
Yes.
I do this every day
againi, not to earn salvation. I can;t do this
but because I trust God
without faith it is impossible to please God..
