Which verse says we should believe or confess that Jesus is God?

Which verse says we should believe or confess that Jesus is God?

The main two ones that are used are, "unless you believe that I am" assuming the divine title there, and "call on the name of the Lord," assuming the Tetragrammaton is in view, mirroring OT application to God.

Personally, I think a person can be still be saved if they virtually attribute to Christ the complete authority and power Scripture grants him, accepting his suffering for their sins, and still be confused about his actual nature.

Same thing. The Christians new birth is the spirit from God. His gift to us that allows us to be born again
yes, the Holy Spirit who is God. next.
It's many times referred to as the spirit of Christ. Two different names. Same thing.
ERROR nit the same thing? no, the SAME PERSON... YIKES!
The Christ in you is the same spirit also called the spirit of God.
did not 101G say this?
It's not rocket science. There's no trinity and Jesus is not God and the spirit is not another person.
a half truth is a full lie in desguise. . Listen carefully....... JESUS is the ONLY GOD, who is ONE person. and he is the Spirit.

now, on the trinity. there is a trinity of three ADMINISTRATION, and that's bible. but of PERSON, no.

look Pete you cannot grasp what the bible is saying., and you refuse to believe the word of God. until you gain KNOWLEDGE that he, Jesus is the ONLY true God ... "SHARED" in flesh as the ECHAD of himself that came and took away our sin...... no need to reply.

in MUCH G.L.

So just to be clear... there's no verse in the Bible that says we should believe or confess that Jesus is God.

And there is not one verse that says Jesus is God the Son. Nor has there ever been a teaching on it anywhere in the Bible. The Jews never saw it anywhere in the entire Old Testament nor anyone in the New Testament ever taught it.

Also there's no teaching on why God would come to the earth as a man. Such a concept accomplishes nothing. Romans says a man (Adam) caused sin to enter into the world, and also that a man would have to redeem it from sin. The Bible specifically says that a man must do it. The book of Corinthians makes the same point Romans does when it says “For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:21).

Well. Again we are talking about specificity here. There is no verse that says "pedophilia is a sin" yet we can still deduce that. Deductions and the guidance of the Holy Spirit are an intrinsic part of Scripture's teachings, if you deny them for some kind of mental analytical approach, you've already violated Scripture anyway.

But the key here is to understand that the Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world to save it from the wrath to come, was given as a mercy seat to place our faith in the expiation of his Blood for our crimes against a holy God. You do that, and you are golden. But if you set up some moralistic or humanistic system that denies his atonement, you are facing that wrath.

I have shared many times why it is the overwhelming testimony of Scripture that Christ is truly divine regardless, and this is and always will be, the testimony of God's Spirit, that the Word truly is God.

Let's talk about the trinity...

  • John 1:1 does not necessarily imply that Jesus is God. The phrase "the Word was God" can also be translated as "the Word was divine."
  • Jesus' use of "I AM" statement does not necessarily imply that He is Yahweh. These statements can also be seen as affirmations of His divine mission and authority.
  • John 8:58 does not necessarily imply that Jesus is claiming to be Yahweh. The phrase "Before Abraham was, I AM" can also be seen as a statement of Jesus' divine authority.
  • John 10:30 does not necessarily imply that Jesus is claiming to be equal with God. The phrase "I and the Father are one" can also be seen as a statement of Jesus' unity with the Father in purpose and mission.
  • The miracles recorded in John's Gospel do not necessarily imply that Jesus is God. These miracles can also be seen as demonstrations of Jesus' divine authority and mission. Similar miracles were performed by Old Testament prophets, such as Elijah and Elisha, who were not considered to be divine.
  • Jesus' death and resurrection do not necessarily imply that He is God. These events can also be seen as the culmination of Jesus' divine mission and the demonstration of His divine authority.
  • Thomas' confession in John 20:28 does not necessarily imply that Jesus is God. The phrase "My Lord and my God" can also be seen as an expression of Thomas' awe and reverence for Jesus.
  • John's Gospel does present Jesus as the Son of God, sent by the Father. However, this does not necessarily imply that Jesus is God Himself.

If there is a trinity then why not just come out and say it? Why do we have to jump all over the Bible cutting and pasting pieces of words that are scattered all over the Bible? Why not just teach it? I know enough about how the Bible is written in the New Testament and in the Gospels to know if there was a trinity it would have been taught. The Gospels would have clearly said...

Verily, verily I say unto you that I am Jesus and I'm also God.

The Epistles would have writings like...

Yay, I Paul do testify that Jesus who is God came down from heaven to be a man for us. And we do know and testify that this same Jesus who you crucified is God. And so let us bow our knee to the one and only true God-Man Jesus Christ.

And yet there's nothing like that anywhere. Not in the Old or New Testament. Not even one complete verse like that.

I respectfully disagree with you.
I believe there is overwhelming evidence, starting from Jesus Himself, that Only The Father, Your Father, is God.
Jesús taught that Our Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is the Only and True God, and His God.

I invite you to debate with me in a friendly manner on a new thread, with the help of a moderator chosen by you.
My thesis in that thread is that there is the doctrine of the Trinity cannot explain the difference between three gods and three divine persons and, therefore, is is a polytheistic approach to deity.
That train already left. We did that months ago - almost a year now. There's no need for Trinitarians to explain any such thing. You're the one who believes we worship three gods, not us.

And yet there's nothing like that anywhere. Not in the Old or New Testament. Not even one complete verse like that.

Again specificity.

We literally have Paul saying exactly that but you can explain it away because of your presuppositions.

Being in the form of God does not mean God anymore, because... reasons.

I encourage sincere prayer because these truths only come by revelation.

flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. (Matt. 16:17 NKJ)

He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. (Lk. 24:45 NKJ)

It seems it would have been clearly stated in the Bible and in the earliest Christian creeds if the doctrine of the Trinity was genuine and central to Christian belief and especially if belief in it was necessary for salvation as many Trinitarians teach. God gave the Scriptures to the Jewish people, and the Jewish religion and worship that comes from that revelation does not contain any reference to or teachings about a triune God. Surely the Jewish people were qualified to read and understand it, but they never saw the doctrine of the Trinity.
