Not confused at all. Catholicism added the holy spirit to a godhead in 381 ce at the council of Constantinople. No trinity was taught or served prior to that recorded history fact. No trinity exists, Catholicism created it. Israel NEVER served the true God as a trinity=recorded history fact.
Your problem is the error of a capitol G God to the Word at John 1:1 translated in by Catholicism-a god is correct-at minimum in history 20 translations by unbias Greek scholars put a god at John 1:1 because its correct.
Was Paul confused-1Cor 8:6--There is ONE God to all=the Father.

ELOHIM is PLURAL and literally means gods

Genesis 1:27 is also CORRECT = Elohim created man in His own image, in the image of Elohim He created him; male and female He created them. = 3x Spoken again, same as v26 = for everything God says is TRUTH

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
