Heretics are those who promote doctrine outside of the doctrine of Christ.
Do you believe that OSAS is a heretical doctrine and that ALL Christians in the OSAS camp (those who believe in eternally security of the believer/preservation of the saints (and not a license to sin) are heretics and will not be saved?
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9
In 2 John 9 we see two camps:
1. Those who transgress and do not abide in the doctrine of Christ and do not have God" (never did) and
2. Those who abide in the doctrine of Christ and have both the Father and the Son.
They have strayed concerning the truth because they have been conditioned to lean upon man’s doctrine, so they resist the knowledge of the truth.
This would demonstrate that the knowledge of the truth was never firmly rooted and established from the start.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
The weapons of warfare are not of the flesh but are spiritual and have divine power to destroy strongholds against the knowledge of God. In this spiritual war for the mind, Paul reveals an important truth. Wrong teaching leads to wrong thinking, which leads to disobedience to Christ. Understanding the true knowledge of God leads to right thinking, which leads to obedience to Christ. In going to war against the false arguments of his opponents, Paul's final goal here is that these Corinthians would obey Christ.
Christians who promote heresy will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Christians who promote heresy is an oxymoron. Christians promote essential Christian doctrine, not heresy.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21
Notice, those who
practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. In 1 John 3:9, we read -
No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. *Hermeneutics. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, we see a similar list of sins that are practiced by the
unrighteous. 1 Corinthians 6:9 - Or do you not know that the
unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Not the righteous but the
unrighteous. Let that sink in. Now in regard to the righteous, in 1 Corinthians 6:11, we read - And such
were some of you. (past tense) But you were
washed, but you were
sanctified, but you were
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. See the contrast?
Heresies like sorcery bewitch the mind and cause division and confusion.
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive
heresies, even
denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. Heretics pervert the gospel. (Galatians 1:6-9)
This is why you never address the words of Jesus Christ when I post them in response to your claims.
What do you mean by I NEVER address the words of Jesus Christ when you post them? That is a lie.
If you start to think about and meditate on the scriptures it will begin to tear they stronghold that is resisting the words of Jesus Christ.
I'm not resisting the words of Jesus Christ. I have been a Christian for around 27 hears now and have spent many hours meditating on the words of Jesus Christ and Peter, and Paul for several years. Who are you to judge me?
“
What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7
- Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
I already covered this in post #1,318 in the "Excellent discussion on OSAS" thread, so your false accusation that I NEVER address the words of Jesus Christ when you post them certainly is a lie. You owe me an apology.
In regard to the 100 sheep in Luke 15, we see that Jesus is directing this parable to the
Pharisees and scribes who
complained, saying that Jesus receives sinners and eats with them, while failing to recognize because of
pride and self-righteousness that they were
sinners themselves. The main point of this parable is not that one of Jesus' sheep who He gave eternal life to lost their salvation and had to regain it back again, (which contradicts John 10:27-28 - hermeneutics) but the absolute importance of
finding the one lost sheep -- there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
So, this parable does not teach that this one "sheep" in this case was a saved person in the body of Christ under the new covenant (which was not yet fully established) who lost their salvation and had to repent and get saved all over again. That is not the point. *Context is key.
Luke 15:1-2 sets the scene.
The religious leaders criticized Jesus for associating with these sinners. Jesus responds with three parables describing how these religious leaders should have reacted when faced with
sinners who wish to repent.
Now look what Jesus said in
Matthew 5:5 - These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 But go rather to the
lost sheep of the house of Israel.
In
Luke 19:10, we read - for the Son of Man has come to
seek and to save that which was lost. Not save those all over again who lost salvation.
Jeremiah 50:6 -
My people have been
lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray. Doesn't mean they were saved. The Israelites are His people (chosen people of God) and His sheep physically, even the lost ones.
“My sheep” refers to those who were in Christ, but didn’t remain in Christ, and therefore become lost.
That is your eisegesis but is incorrect. You need to learn how to rightly divide the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Jesus plainly teaches that His sheep can indeed become lost.
The
lost sheep of the house of Israel. (Matthew 5:5) Don't get ahead of yourself. We are still in the gospel of Matthew and not the Pauline epistles yet. “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 But go rather to the
lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Do the lost need salvation?
The lost sheep of the house of Israel certainly do and so do the rest of the lost.
