The Gate to Heaven

I suspect we will find that heaven is peace of mind (what good is heaven if we don't have peace of mind?), and that peace of mind is achieved by repenting of our sin.

Jesus said this:

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17 RSV

The psalmist said this:

This is the gate of the LORD;
the righteous shall enter through it. Psalm 18:20 RSV

Yes, but we also need the Suffering Jesus did on the Cross to atone for our sins.

Knowing our sins were judged on the Cross, puts our conscience at rest that God is still holy yet we are forgiven.

Faith in that Cross is the real gateway to heaven, for the world is full of good works and moralism attempting to earn heaven.

The joy of heaven, will be a satisfaction of the deepest hunger of our heart. I speak of joy as the “satisfaction”; that comes with happiness or even with pleasure.

Our spirit’s joy well be a participation in God’s own eternal inner joy, that love between the Father and the Son: the Holy Spirit.

He is no longer on the cross, He is Risen to life so that we may have that life in us. His death is only 1/2 of the gospel message.

Is it possible to experience that joy without repenting of our sin?

No, without repenting of our sin we have no joy of our salvation.

When someone is brought to faith by the Holy Spirit, he undergoes a conversion. His life turns around. This turning around is called “repentance,” and it is an immediate fruit of genuine faith. Some include repentance as part of genuine faith. However, the Bible distinguishes between repentance and belief.

We cannot have affection for Christ until we recognize and acknowledge, believe that we are sinners and that we desperately need His work on our behalf. Repentance includes a hatred for our sin, which comes with the new affection we are given for God.
