SOTERIOLOGY 101, Provisionism [ Calvinists of course can be excluded.]

@TibiasDad

And I have told you that apothnēskō is defined as separation, not incapacity!

Thats a foolish statement, can the dead rich man seperated into hell, does he have the capacity to funcion physically as when he was alive physically ?

Also the word metaphorically means spiritually dead, incapacitated to to perform spiritually as if he was spiritually alive.

thnēskō:
  1. to die, to be dead
  2. metaph. to be spiritually dead

@Jim

Yes, you showed me the scripture, but you obviously do not read and comprehend well what the scripture says.

So why pray tell you always ask me to show you scripture ? All you do is say I dont understand it when I show it you. That doesnt make sense, its foolish. If I thought a person doesnt understand scripture, I would not keep asking them show me scripture and then explain it to me. What kind of sense is that ?

1) Does the rich man speak, rationalize, remember, express concern? Is he conscious of his reality?

2) The rich man is a spirit creature at this point, the event in question being prior to the final judgment. All of his functions are non-physical, and yet he “feels” the agony of the flames.

3) Being in Hell, is, by definition, being separated from God, goodness, hope, and help!

4) Spiritual death is not equal to non-existence or functionality. It only means that we are separated from God. The only difference between Abraham and the rich man is their location in eternity’s reality. Their past choices have resulted in their current circumstances for which there can be no alteration.

Because I am interested to see specifically what scripture you are misunderstanding to come to your wrong ideas.

To you it is, yet man naturally is dead to God. Any spiritual activity from man must follow having been made alive first. One can be alive physically and have the keenest mental faculties, even be a genius, yet still dead to God.
Grammatically, can the dead rich man seperated into hell, is incoherent…it doesn’t make sense.

Doug

Man by nature is separated from God.

Doug
Man is not separated from God here on earth. However, man has been separated from the opportunity of eternal life with God in heaven. Even Cain was not separated from God in his life on earth. And none are ever described as such, so far as I know from scripture.
