Jesus paid for, atoned for our sins, but that did NOT mean took sin nature away, as that awaits physically resurrected glorified state
I'm sorry, but that to me is a slap in His face. The old man is the sin nature. It has been crucified, and resurrected clean. The type of sin that was taken away from our nature was lawlessness. Those are sins unto death, allowing us to have eternal life. We have a clean nature, no longer a sin nature.
Colossians 2 also talks of Jesus doing circumcision without hands on us. The part that is cut away is sin. From what? Our nature.
As far as glorification, I see you have been taught we will always sin until we receive our new bodies. That is not biblical, and a horrible false doctrine that minimizes what Jesus did on the cross. Romans 8:9-10 shows when we are born again we are
not in "the flesh." That is now while in our bodies (10) which is not part of our nature. Paul is talking of the sin nature being the "old man" and "the flesh." It is our nature that is born again. The new nature is our spirit and soul. All that is left is our body, but it is not our body that originates sin, but our nature. Look at it this way. Our body is like a floppy puppet that is controlled by our spirit/soul, our nature, whether full of sin as in the Old Covenant under the law that Paul gave example of in Romans 7:14-25, that you were probably also taught are Christians. No, Romans 7:5-6 are the only Christians in Romans 7 and shows the flesh is in the past. "When we WERE in the flesh." How soon people forget that context when reading the rest of the chapter about those who were under the law. Verse 23-24 gives the answer to their predicament - Jesus. That means you need to read the next chapter to see that Jesus freed us from Romans 7:14-25.
Here is another doctrine you've probably been taught and that is the process of sanctification. Where does it teach that in the Bible? Sanctification happens at the same time we are washed,
sanctified and justified. 1 Corinthians 6:11 "And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." But we know that there IS a process of growing in the fruit of the Spirit. Guess what the name of that process is? Romans 8:30 shows the name of that process. We are glorified. So glorification is how we are conformed into the image of Christ. All this has to do with our nature. Our floppy puppet body is not the source of sin as you were probably also taught I noticed by your answers. 2 Peter 1:5-7 shows what happens during the process of glorification. And when you read to the end of that passage you will find the words "you will never stumble." That is BEFORE death and the resurrection and glorification of our body also as Jesus as also the Finisher of our faith perfects in us while alive.
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound,
you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for
if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
