Irresistible Grace

Irresistible grace is limited to the chosen, the elect of God,

Notice Peter writing to the Elect of God 1 Pet 1:2

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

The word elect here is ἐκλεκτός:

Definition: Chosen, elect
Meaning: chosen out, elect, choice, select, sometimes as subst: of those chosen out by God for the rendering of special service to Him (of the Hebrew race, particular Hebrews, the Messiah, and the Christians).

Word Origin: Derived from the Greek verb ἐκλέγομαι (eklegomai), meaning "to choose" or "to select."

Now these same ones Peter writes of them 1 Pet 2:9

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

He calls them "chosen" and its the same exact word from Chapter 1 for the word Elect,

Now to them Peter said they should show praises to God, and for what ? His Irresistible grace, which called them out of darkness [the darkness of unbelief] into His Marvelous Light, that is Gospel Light, which induced Faith and obedience. Thats an effectual, irresistible call for the elect.

Matt Poole on 1 Pet 2:9

Who hath called you; by an effectual calling, according to his purpose, Romans 8:28.

Out of darkness; the darkness of ignorance, unbelief, sin, and misery. The time before the publication of the gospel, was a time of darkness, Matthew 9:16 Luke 1:79.

Into his marvellous light; the light of knowledge, faith, holiness, comfort: see Ephesians 5:8. It is called marvellous, because men see what they never saw before, wonderful things out of God’s law, Psalm 119:18; and because it is a marvellous thing, that they who sat in so gross darkness should be translated into so glorious a light.

The word darkness σκότος;

Darkness
Meaning: darkness, either physical or moral.

Word Origin: Derived from the base of σκεῦος (skeuos), meaning "a vessel" or "implement," which metaphorically extends to the concept of obscurity or darkness.

Corresponding Greek / Hebrew Entries: - H2822 - חֹשֶׁךְ (choshek): Often used in the Old Testament to describe physical darkness and metaphorically for ignorance or evil (e.g., Genesis 1:2, Exodus 10:21).

Usage: In the New Testament, "skotos" primarily refers to physical darkness, the absence of light. However, it is often used metaphorically to describe spiritual or moral darkness, symbolizing ignorance, sin, and separation from God. It contrasts with "phos" (light), representing truth, righteousness, and divine presence.

So this call brings about a total conversion experience from the darkness of unbelief and ignorance, to Faith and Believing the Gospel, this is limited however to Gods elect , whether jew or gentile.

Nothing there about irresistible grace and election is based on foreknowledge there

Sorry, you are still running on imagination

And your inability to address scripture contrary to your view shows you are the one without eyes to see
Nothing you have eyes to see. No scripture you have provided is contrary to my beliefs, its all in your mind. If anything, the scripture you provide support my views.

Irresistible Grace.

John Piper
“Irresistible grace refers to the sovereign work of God to overcome the rebellion of our heart and bring us to faith in Christ so that we can be saved.” Furthermore, “The doctrine of irresistible grace means that God is sovereign and can conquer all resistance when he wills.” In other words, “It means that the Holy Spirit, whenever he chooses, can overcome all resistance and make his influence irresistible.”

The question is this- is the above statement a universal truth found in Scripture or is it a doctrinal assumption in a systematic theology ?
Irresistible grace is (like you convincingly argued in your post) is not an universal truth. Nevertheless during my conversion it 100% felt that way, up to point (without boasting) I felt chosen and asking God, why me and not everybody else? And that question was never answered. Overwhelmed by God's love was irresistible, impossible to reject, it made me an instant believer. Sometimes (emphasis added) the Lord just takes. Examples enough in Scripture, Abraham, Moses, the OT prophets, Paul being knocked down to the ground by Jesus.

All Calvinist points, and I am not a Calvinist ;)
