Excellent Discussion on OSAS

My observation has been that the more a person focuses on himself, the less he is able to keep his life in order. On the other hand, the more an individual focuses on Christ, the easier it becomes to allow Him to control every area of life. Abide in Christ.

If our salvation is not secure, how could Jesus say about those to whom He gives eternal life? “and they shall never perish” John 10:28

If even one man receives eternal life and then forfeits it through sin or apostasy, will they not perish? And by doing so, do they not make Jesus’ words a lie?
Amen.

Salvation is on God. Not us

if it could be on us, Christ would not have needed to die. he could have stayed in heaven, and let us all live or fail by our actions

He doesn't stop there. He says that they are partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the Heavenly gift. These things cannot happen to the casual passer by. They only happen to one who has been saved.

There is only one way to be a partaker of the Holy Spirit, and to taste the Heavenly gift. It is to be indwelt by His Spirit. This is not simple empowerment, or the urging of the Spirit to believe the Gospel and accept Christ in baptism. This is to fully receive the Spirit and become a partner with Him.

You are straining to fit your doctrine into the text; twisting the Word to fit your preconception. Read what the Word says, and fit your doctrine to it. Mold yourself to His will. Quit trying to twist God down to fit in your little box.

Who are you to judge their repentance? God, through the Hebrew writer, says that they had partaken of the Spirit and then fallen away. They were in, and now they are out and cannot be returned to being in.

Not genuine believers ANY MORE. They were once, but they fell away.
False and once again your biased opinion misses the mark. I already thoroughly covered Hebrews 6:4:6 in my post and I properly harmonized scripture with scripture before reaching my conclusion on doctrine. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Some folks not only disagree with OSAS but also seem to be suffering from a severe case of anti-OSAS derangement syndrome. I have found that ALL false religions and cults that promote works salvation/works righteousness strongly oppose OSAS which has always been a major red flag for me.
I think when it gets down to it. alot of it is anti calvin. they hate calvinism so much, they will nto even allow anything calvin says to be true, including OSAS - (of course calvin says perseverance of the saints.. Saints do nt persevere. God keeps them, so even calvin is wrong on this point)

(Psalm 37:28; 1 Corinthians 1:8; 1 Peter 1:5; Jude 1:1) God's preservation and not self preservation.

Your biased opinion of it, but very wide of the Truth. Still praying for you to come to understand it, but it is in God's timing to bring you to it.

from the truth

salvation is eternal life. we have the seal of the spirit.
some people think they are saved by their works/efforts. so they must keep themselves saved. this is what happens when man becomes the focus and not Christ- the theology becomes man centered rather than God/Christ centered. they conflate salvation with works. it then becomes a performance test with a tally to keep.

think of Peter walking on water while focused on Jesus and then what happened when he took His eyes/focus off Jesus then onto himself.

Spoken like a true Calvinist.

By that definition of grace, free will is logically eliminated.

No salvation and the atonement have requirements and conditions.

actually there is a third

The believed, but they did not have faith

Since they just believed, and was not assured of what they heard. the things of the world quickly took them away, because their faith was in the world.
Amen! Unlike saving faith in Christ, their shallow, temporary belief had no root, produced no fruit was not rooted in a regenerate heart.

He is not a calvinist

You're completely missing the point, but it wasn't really addressed to you.

This kind of argument was in fact started by the rise of Calvinism.

No one before Calvinism came into existence thought "anything you do is works salvation."
