Excellent Discussion on OSAS

The kingdom of God or heaven is a spiritual kingdom in the teachings of Jesus.

Literally one phrase before the kingdom is reference and is called the "kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 8:11 NKJ)

Your precommitment to your OSAS does not allow you to read the passage for what it says.
I understand what the kingdom of God or heaven is. I see that you still refuse to see that "sons of the kingdom" in context here refers specifically to the Jewish people who presumed their lineage guaranteed salvation. Jesus challenges this notion by affirming that faith, not ethnicity, determines entry into the kingdom. It's nice to see that Johann understands. It's your precommitted bias against OSAS that does not allow you to read the passage for what it says.

@Johann
Don’t lose your equilibrium, @Red Baker. Stay calm and respond thoughtfully. On other forums, someone making accusations like that-insinuating blasphemy or questioning your salvation-would likely be warned or even banned.

Stay strong in Christ Jesus, brother.
Thank you for your kind words. I labored to stay calm, if I overstepped the line of saying that i question another person's salvation then I will apologize, for I try hard not to judge others hearts.

I must admit, that Fran did get under my skin a little by her accusations toward me, but thank you for slowing me down from sinning against God, which I do not desire to do. I will heed your exhortation.

Psalms 141:5

“Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.”

Thanks @Johann and @Red Baker for your interaction and not having to have the mods involved and figuring it out. Thats highly commendable. And to be honest its preferable imho. Thanks once again guys/gals.

And there is nothing wrong will calling someone out as long as its done in love. This is exactly what was done and its much appreciated. There was no personal attacks ( ad hominems). And it was done for the well being of all of us. PTL !!!

The cost of not abiding in Christ is high and leads to an avalanche of devastation to our life here on this present earth.
One bad choice can lead to another and down a trail from discontent and distracted to deception and finally destruction. But there is still hope.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5

We need to guard our hearts above all. Remember Satan only comes to rob, kill and destroy. Rob you of the joy in your life. Kill every good thing in you life and destroy your testimony and usefulness in the kingdom of God.

In essence, we choose whether the choices of our hearts will result in destruction or lead us to victory.

Hebrew word for “heart” is leb. It refers to the spiritual, intellectual, and emotional nature of human beings. But it is more than a description of isolated functions. Leb refers to the totality of a person and his or her inner life and character.

The heart can be totally devoted Deuteronomy 4:29

Or it can be “bewitched” or “stolen” Song of Solomon 4:9

God told the ancient Hebrews to love Him with all their heart, soul, and strength Deuteronomy 6:5

God explained that He was looking for a man after His own heart to rule Israel 1 Samuel 13:14; 16:7

He explained that He “searches all hearts” to reveal their true motives 1 Chronicles 28:9

In repentance, the psalmist wrote, “Create in me a clean heart, O God” Psalm 51:10

“Search me, O God, and know my heart,” Psalm 139:23

Knowing God and serving God are activities described in the Bible as being done with “all your heart” Proverbs 3:5

God promises, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:13

The apostle Paul said, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” Romans 10:9

When we are born again our hearts are transformed. The Bible promises that God will give us a “new heart” and a “new spirit” Ezekiel 36:26

But even this transformed heart must be restrained from wandering away from God. That is why we need to guard our hearts. When I was first saved that spiritual conversion was the high point in my live. I came face to face with the claims of Christ and believed that He was the Savior and I trusted Him explicitly. My heart was ignited with a divine passion for God. I came alive spiritually and wanted the whole world to know it. Whatever you call it—conversion, salvation, regeneration—it was the beginning of a brand new-life in Christ for me.

I joined a Non-Denominational Church named "New Beginnings Christian Fellowship." And that's what it was for me, a new beginning. A new start. A new life. But it was just the beginning. My lifelong process of spiritual growth and maturity (theologians call it sanctification) had only began at that point.

I didn't realize it at the time, but I had just embarked on a long journey—a journey of the heart. Something down deep inside me told me this was it— the truth about God—as we Christians believe it. My heart was set ablaze by God’s presence in my life.

As time passed and the journey progressed, I realized that there were many challenges ahead. The road of life is meant to be traveled, but sometimes it can get rough. Starting the race is one thing—finishing it is another. That’s where your heart may well determine the outcome. Guard it well.

How we handle our problems is the key to overcoming them. Our reaction will determine whether our problems become opportunities for personal growth or the means of spiritual and emotional defeat. Learning how to handle life’s problems with the right heart attitude is the first step in overcoming them.

The point that I'm trying to make is if we blow it and backslid and refuse to believe that God is really in control of our lives. Then wrong attitudes push us away from God instead of drawing us to Him.

Running from God is like running away from the one person who can really help you. The more you run, the more He will pursue you like the “hound of heaven.” His grace will keep reaching out to you even when you don’t want it.

Hebrews 6:19 reminds us that Jesus Christ is our “hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." This passage goes on to explain that He has anchored us to the heart of God, beyond the veil into the Holy of Holies in heaven itself. You may have run far enough to pull the links of the chain to their limit, but God will not let you go if you belong to Him. That's how OSAS works.

The tug in your heart is the pull on the chain of the anchor of hope. That restless dissatisfaction in your soul is the stirring of the spirit to draw you back to the God who loves you. Like when the prodigal son came to his senses.

Whether we realize it or not, most of our problems are the result of our own sinful responses to life’s challenges. Only when we face those sins and admit them will we take responsibility to correct them. The Bible calls this process confession and repentance.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Keep His words

And NOSAS ?

NOSAS in the sense of exceptions, such as King Salomon.

So basically OSAS.
What about perseverance? And the outworking/ongoing part of sanctification? Is this not acceptable to you?

J.

There is no OSAS, it's a scam to just make believers more complacent in their walks.

"Do not be deceived."

"Do not be deceived."

How can a born again deliberately want to displease the Lord and be more complacent in his/her walk?

It shouldn't, but it happens.

He/she better repents, else slippery slope.

I have found that ALL false religions and cults that promote salvation by works strongly oppose OSAS which has always been a major red flag for me.

I have no intention to leave the faith, nor can I imagine that I ever will. I have urgently prayed if the Lord will protect me from falling, like Jesus prayed for Peter -

Luke 22:31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat,
Luke 22:32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

My confidence is in the Lord, not in myself.

Never overestimate yourself, Peter's denial is an excellent example.

Luke 18:10-14 (ESV):

"Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

Continuation.....

Matt 10:38 - And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Meaning, willing to die for Jesus.

How do you know when push comes to shove, when (like Peter) your life is in danger because of your faith, you then will be faced with your born survival instinct, only then will know what your faith is worth.

Through the Fire Again
When shadows stretch and trials remain,
When sorrow weaves through every vein,
I stand within the furnace flame,
But I know, O Lord, You’ll bring me through again.

When wounds of life bleed deep and wide,
And fear’s dark waves crash from each side,
Your hand upholds, Your voice sustains,
Through every fire, You’ll bring me through again.

When mockery’s darts and cruel disdain
Pierce through my soul with aching pain,
I cling to grace that never wanes—
Your love, O Lord, will bring me through again.

Though persecution howls and roars,
And weary feet drag on life’s shores,
My heart will sing through every strain—
For You, O Lord, will bring me through again.

Refined by fire, yet unconsumed,
Through blazing storms, in trials entombed,
Your faithfulness will still remain—
And through the fire, You’ll bring me through again.

Never sit in judgement upon anyone, not knowing what they are going through, we may know all the doctrines in the head but if not experienced, it's just that, accumulative knowledge, and not where it really matters.

Another continuation...

Luke 22:33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.”
Luke 22:34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”

I am pretty sure Peter meant every word he said, provided the soldiers had come on that moment.

But not a few hours later when in danger, he did not know himself.

Neither do I.

The story of Peter has made a deep impression on me.

I just love this:

When people come to know Christ as their Savior, they are brought into a relationship with God that guarantees their eternal security. Jude 24 declares, “To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy.” God’s power is able to keep the believer from falling. It is up to Him, not us, to present us before His glorious presence. Our eternal security is a result of God keeping us, not us maintaining our own salvation.

The Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand” (John 10:28–29b). Both Jesus and the Father have us firmly grasped in their hand. Who could possibly separate us from the grip of both the Father and the Son?

I have no intention to leave the faith, nor can I imagine that I ever will. I have urgently prayed if the Lord will protect me from falling, like Jesus prayed for Peter - My confidence is in the Lord, not in myself. Never overestimate yourself, Peter's denial is an excellent example.

People think mistakenly the only way to trust in grace is to remove free will. But the very act of trust itself is a decision of the will.

It is wise not to trust in ourselves, but it is also wise to pray earnestly as we trust in the Lord, and prepare seriously for our future.

Jesus said to Peter, "when you return to me," showing us two things: Peter really did leave Christ, and Peter returned of his own free will.

There is real security outside of OSAS, and no real security trusting only in OSAS. Let us do our part as we depend on God.
