which appears in our english version as a catching up

There is no need to pour the musing of Darby into it
All that means nothing but regurgitation of Darby's flawed interpretation and breaking of Scripture.
The way Christ ascended is the same way He's coming back. One time. Not halfway, chill in the sky and call people up, and three-and-one-half years later finishes His descent to earth and everyone pulled up comes back down to earth again.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:10–11.

I think they can and here's why. See number 10
10. Declaration: “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations” (d 24:14). In the midst of the darkness the light of the good news of Jesus Christ will shine brighter than ever. People everywhere will run to Jesus Christ for forgiveness, peace, and life.
there is no rapture of the church, and two the Lord Jesus said this in a parable for us to understand. Listen and Learn.
Matthew 13:24 "Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:" Matthew 13:25 "But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way." Matthew 13:26 "But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also." Matthew 13:27 "So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?" Matthew 13:28 "He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?" Matthew 13:29 "But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them." Matthew 13:30 "Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

verse 30 put to rest any rapture of the church. the wheat and the tares are together until he returns, the harvest. but here is a revelation on who is getting out of here first. "Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them:" the only one's leaving or being gathered first are the tares.

Darby was the one who originally taught this false doctrine, and you are being deceived. The way Jesus comes back is the way He went up.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:10–11.

Jesus did not ascend, stay in the air for three and one-half years, then finally disappear as He went up.

Nor will Jesus return, stay in the air three and one-half years and then descend. You are a disciple of John Darby.

I know all that. The point I am making is scripture speaks of a catching up. One does not have to fill it up with Darby's speculation to believe it exists

This catching up in the latin Vulgate has a word which we transliterate as rapture

Jesus arrives a second time ONCE. There is no catching up. The way He went up is the way He's coming down.

Sorry you are in denial of scripture

1 Thessalonians 4:15–17 (KJV 1900) — 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

So, The Lord never touches down? He stays in the air and "so shall we ever be with the Lord" in the air?

There's something wrong with Saul's words. I prefer to trust Zechariah.

1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh,
And thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;
And the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and ethe women ravished;
And half of the city shall go forth into captivity,
And the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations,
As when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives,
Which is before Jerusalem on the east,
And the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west,
And there shall be a very great valley;
And half of the mountain shall remove toward the north,
And half of it toward the south.
Zech. 14:1–4.

This corresponds with Revelation 19.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev. 19:11–16.

The way He went UP is the same way He's coming back. Point A to Point B (heaven and the right hand of God),
and point B to point A (His return "in like manner" as He went UP.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
Acts 1:10–12.

You need to revise your understanding of Thessalonians 4. Jesus doesn't stay "in the air" as you interpret Saul's words. He comes back to the Mount of Olives "in like manner" as He left the Mount of Olives.

So, The Lord never touches down? He stays in the air and "so shall we ever be with the Lord" in the air?

What is this? More reverse hermeneutics?

Jesus doesn't stay in the air as you believe of Thessalonians. His feet TOUCH DOWN upon Mount Olives just as His feet LIFTED OFF the Mount of Olives.

We do not stay in the air with Jesus.

But that's what you believe because of your erroneous understanding of Thessalonians 4.

Constantinian Gentile theology, folks. And you're all infected by it.

This is a diversion

The discussion is not about whether Jesus touches down but whether there is a catching up in the air

Scripture plainly states there is

1 Thessalonians 4:15–17 (KJV 1900) — 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

WE DO NOT STAY IN THE AIR WITH JESUS.

HELLO?

I think they can and here's why. See number 10

According to Jesus, these ten things will continue to multiply and progress as the first three and a half years of the Great Tribulation unfold following the rapture.

1. Deception: “Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:5)
2. Dissension: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. . . . Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” (Matthew 24:6–7)
3. Devastation: “There will be famines.” (Matthew 24:7)
4. Disease: “Pestilences.” (Matthew 24:7)
5. Disasters: “Earthquakes in various places.” (Matthew 24:7)
6. Death: “They will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” (Matthew 24:9)
7. Disloyalty: “Many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.” (Matthew 24:10)
8. Delusion: “Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many” (24:11). It should also be noted that part of the delusion will be an increase in drug use. One of the characteristics of the end times’ false religion will be what the book of Revelation calls “sorceries” (Matthew 9:21). The word John used is pharmakia, from which we get the word pharmacy. It is an ancient reference to the ingestion of drugs. The use of mind-altering substances such as narcotics and hallucinogens will be associated with false religions, doubtless with the approval of the government.
9. Defection: “Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). People will turn away from God and from one another.

Jesus spoke clearly about the Tribulation, but He is not alone. Several passages throughout the Bible describe the events that will occur during the Tribulation period. These descriptions occur in the writings of various Old Testament prophets and in brief references here and there in other books of the Bible. But it is the book of Revelation that describes the Tribulation events in the greatest detail.

Some Bible interpreters believe that there will be absolutely no chance for salvation after the rapture. However, there is no place in the Bible that says this or even hints to it. There will be many people who come to Christ during the tribulation. The 144,000 Jewish witnesses (Revelation 7:4) are Jewish believers. If no one can come to Christ during the tribulation, then why are people being beheaded for their faith (Revelation 20:4)? No passage of Scripture argues against people having a chance to be saved after the rapture. Many passages indicate the opposite.

Another view is that those who hear the gospel and reject it before the rapture cannot be saved. Those saved during the tribulation, then, are those who had never heard the gospel before the rapture. The “proof text” for this view is 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11, which says the antichrist will work miracles to deceive “those who are perishing” and that God Himself will “send them a powerful delusion” to confirm them in their unbelief. The reason given is that “they refused to love the truth and so be saved” (verse 10). Granted, those who are hard-hearted toward the gospel before the rapture are likely to remain so. And the antichrist will deceive many (Matthew 24:5). But “those who refused to love the truth” does not necessarily refer to people who heard the gospel before the rapture. It could be anyone who wholly rejects God’s salvation, at any time. So, there is no clear scriptural evidence to support this view.

Revelation 6:9-11 speaks of those martyred during the tribulation “because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained.” These martyrs will correctly interpret what they see during the tribulation and will believe the gospel themselves and call on others to repent and believe as well. The antichrist and his followers will not tolerate their evangelism and will kill them. All of these martyrs are people who were alive before the rapture, but who were not believers until afterward. Therefore, there must be opportunity to come to Christ in faith after the rapture.

Pre-Trib Research Center

FYI: There is no such thing as 'pre-trib' rapture.

The Rapture only occurs AFTER the Resurrection = SEE Gospel, 1st & 2nd Thessalonians, 1 John and Revelation

There is a 7 year period from the rapture until the Millennium.So they answer is yes. Where else does John and God get the right to present those who have come out of the "Great Tribulation", who have washed their robes in the blood of the lamb. That is salvation.
FYI: There is no such thing as 'pre-trib' rapture.

The Rapture only occurs AFTER the Resurrection = SEE Gospel, 1st & 2nd Thessalonians, 1 John and Revelation

If you want to give it a try, there is a REWARD, but only for TRUTH.

i am offering, to anyone, $1,000.00 if you find a single "pre-trib" rapture prophecy in OT and another $1,000.00 for a NT "pre-trib" rapture declaration from the LORD Jesus Christ and a 3rd $1,000.00 for a single "pre-trib" rapture declaration from the Apostles(Peter, Paul and John).

Hello

Hello
Zechariah says the Lord touched down.
Saul says the Lord stays in the air forever.
Who's right?

Zechariah is correct. There may be only on passage in which it appears that the Lord doesn't touch down, but several passages that say unequivocally the Lord touches down.

Is that what you do when you come across two passages of Scripture that contradict each other is choose the one that is closer to what fits your theology? That doesn't show much honesty and integrity towards Scripture on your part.

What Saul says is incorrect and maybe the translators got it wrong. Or Saul made an error.
Since Zechariah is a true prophet of the Lord with a message of the Lord's coming down from heaven the same way ("in like manner") He went up this makes Saul incorrect. We don't stay in the air forever as Saul says. Jesus comes down and His feet land on the Mount of Olives and the mountain is split in two. Besides this Jesus also sits on the throne of David and this throne is on earth in Jerusalem.

Your interpretation breaks Scripture and is to be rejected. The true Word of God is consistent, and it doesn't contradict what's been written in the Law, Psalms, and the Prophets.
What did Peter say about people that "speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:16.

Such a warning came true in time. Saul was beheaded. Instant karma.

There is a rapture - a catching up of the living at Christ's advent but no pre-mill pre-trib rapture
Yes its just a matter of when which is what the debate is all about. Those living at the time will not experience death but will be transformed immediately when the trumpet sounds. :)
