Calvinism is Gospel !

First of all.... Do you know why Johnnie has been involved with Tulip at all?

And again we are introduced to the Dort connection....

The acrostic TULIP, which summarizes the Five Points of Calvinism, was not directly created by John Calvin himself but was popularized later, particularly in the early 20th century. The origins of the five points can be traced back to the Synod of Dort in the early 17th century, which responded to the teachings of Jacobus Arminius.

Would that not make a great name for a group? Johnnie and the Dorts?????

But Calvin was the one who made them popular..... You cannot talk of TULIP without Calvin. When you subscribe to Tulip Calvin is in the middle....

You call them Tulip..... Tip Toe through and all that rot.....

The Five Points of Calvinism constitute a summary of soteriology in Reformed Christianity. Named after John Calvin, they largely reflect the teaching of the Canons of Dort. The five points assert that God saves every person upon whom he has mercy, and that his efforts are not frustrated by the unrighteousness or inability of humans. They are occasionally known by the acrostic TULIP: total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints Continued in Wikipedia

Calvin was on the scene preaching before Dort ever thought to be formed and coalesce ...

The Five Points of Calvinism are often summarized by the acronym “TULIP.” They stem from teachings historically identified with the 16th-century Reformer John Calvin, though they were refined and formally expressed during the Synod of Dort (1618-1619).

John Calvin began developing the ideas that would form Calvinism after he published his seminal work, "Institutes of the Christian Religion," in 1536. This work laid the foundation for his theological system, which became influential during the Protestant Reformation

And as mentioned the Synod of Dort which had its meeting to try and come up with the way to knock off Arminianism and their rising in the theological ranks got hold of these ideas... and ran away with them.

FOR PETE'S SAKE... LEARN THE HISTORY OF WHAT YOU BELIEVE..... YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED.

YOUR STATEMENT OF " Men have just placed contempt on the Gospel by calling it Calvinism" tells us all that you have no idea where what you even believe originated from.

If the conversation is limited solely to what John Calvin personally wrote, then the conversation changes dramatically.

I'd like to make an observation.....

When it comes to Dort and WC, they all have the same issue that the law of Moses had. In fact, Calvinists basically follow the laws of Dort/WC more closely than the law of Moses.

In other words "They have their own laws".....

One problem with most any "law", all laws require a judge to discern between innocence and culpability. To judge intent and circumstances.

This is where the individual always becomes the "judge" themselves. Personal problems....

Not interested. This thread is about the Gospel, people scoff it as calvinism to their peril

Names......

Do you have one of those "new names" written down in glory and it is "mine oh yes it is mine"...???

I hope you one day realize that most everyone in your life is trying to drive a "narrative" with all the "names" they're pushing at you.

Calvin will answer for Calvin not what other's said about him. I will too. You will too. This "name" junk is going to all "pass away".

I could on and on about it.

Once you start chasing someone else's "vernacular"... you're usually being deceived. Not saying that you face that. You should just be aware of the facts of life and communications. Very few people actually give it much thought at all.

When you throw "Calvinism" at me, it really means very little to me. Not that I don't know the history and the teaching. I know it better than most, it is just empty rhetoric to me. It is so wrong at so many levels, I don't care what you call it. It is just wrong.

What in the world are you talking about now ?
Did you read what I wrote? NO?

Calvin had the five points a long time before The Synod of Dort was convened to address and settle the controversy surrounding Arminianism, which opposed the strict Calvinist doctrine of predestination

You indicated above you are not into Calvinism but he ,John Calvin, came up with the 5 points AND HE WAS VERY INTO GOD MAKING PEOPLE FOR DESTRUCTION... HE CALLED THEM THE REPROBATES.

Exactly what you teach....

How is it you don't know your own historical bearing from where your beliefs came.... Why is it that you church never told you?

That paper from Dort, if you really read it would see it was in this century they added the tie in with Westminster Confession of Faith.... Westminster Confession of faith has hung on Calvins every word... and quoted his beliefs in the confession.

Brightfame, you need to learn this stuff.... It is not hard... You can find it all online.....

I agree but I cannot comprehend how anyone day after day can keep espousing their personal beliefs which had to have been told to them not knowing the origination???

I posted that about DORT and honestly did not know until today how they added... recently the WMCoF to support their beliefs.

But it is likely it is all plagiarized in a way because Calvin started the ball moving yet unless you are taught about Calvin many have no idea about him.

Well, I digress because this is a very hot button topic for me... John Calvin... and my upbringing in my church before I started to think for myself and read the bible and not just get preached to

Sorry for bending your ear.

No bending at all. Anytime.

do you believe this? GOD DLIBERATELY MADE PEOPLE WHO WERE FOR DAMNATION.

Yes it is
Sorry, but your theology has no gospel.

The gospel represents the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ, proclaimed publicly as the heart of Christian faith. In Paul’s writings especially, it embodies both the christological and soteriological core of Christianity—distinguishing authentic faith from distortions.

Tulip is not a gospel

It is an error teaching total inability, unconditional election, limited atonement, and irresistible grace

Faith precedes salvation

Rom 10:9–10 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Acts 16:31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Rom 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

John 6:47 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

Gal 2:16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

Rom 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Rom 1:16–17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

1 John 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.

Acts 15:11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”

Titus 3:5–7 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life

Salvation is not unconditional, requiring the faith seen above

The atonement is not limited, as Christ died for the whole world

God's grace, Christ's death for all, does not cause all to be saved, so irresistible grace is another falsehood.

yes tulip is the opposite of good news, its bad news for the world in which Christ made atonement for as per John 3:16 and 1 John 2:2.
Yep

John 3:16 (NASB 95) — 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

1 John 2:2 (NASB 95) — 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

Turn away from those who cause dissensions and stumbling blocks contrary to the teaching which you learned, that is the truth that Calvinism is a false gospel with a false god. Romans 16:17
