So many fail to understand who it is in Romans 8:29 that those whom He foreknew are those who love God as spoken of in Romans 8:28. The "for" in verse 29 is from the Greek hoti, meaning "because".

Then you do not really understand what Paul wrote which is what I copied. What I wrote is the very opposite to the Reformed understanding. The Reformed understanding is that to love God is predestined and that is wrong. That is not what is presented in Romans 8:28-30 .
Those who love God are those who believe. To believe in God is to love God. Are you trying to say that God did not foreknow who would believe? I certainly hope you are not that ignorant of God's attributes.

Foreknow is only a verb. It is never something else.
But that is the Calvinist, Reformed Theology, view of soteriology that you are presenting.
It means allowed or permitted to. It means not prevented from. God does not cause the suffering; rather, God permits the suffering for Christ's sake. And God does not cause anyone to believe in Him. He gives you every reason to believe in Him but He does not cause it in the sense of making you believe in Him or suffer for His sake. Paul suffered much for Christ's sake. God actually caused none of it. He allowed it. He permitted it. He granted it.
It doesn't mean that I will do whatever you grant me permission to do. It only means that you will not prevent me from do it.
