Any Pastors Here? Altar Calls?

disagree when you must.
i have seen mass alter calls raise your hand if you raised your hand repeat after me. if you said this prayer come up and we will disciple you . id o not agree with that the discipleship yes. we see new converts and they end up learning to eat and walk with out help. soon if not careful fall by the way side . i do %100 support the altar call done under the leader ship of the Holy Spirit

The good thing is with good biblical follow up you can find out if they understand the gospel, who Christ is and what it means to be a disciple, a follower of Christ. Then the parable of the sower will play out and will be able to see what type of soil the seed fell upon.

Are there any pastors/preachers here? Do you do an altar call?

The assembly is of the called out (church). The assembly is supposed to be an assembly of believers to teach, and share mutual edification. It is not an exercise in outreach.
Why?? Because YOU SAY SO???
So unless you know there are unbelievers in the assembly, why would you do an altar call (or any equivalent to invite people to be saved)?
Because there are probably people in the congregation that need to become Born Again. Congregations are always mixtures of "Wheat" and "Tares".
Now, I know that many church assemblies contain those who profess to be Christians but are not, but they're not going to respond, since they already believe they are Christians.
And you've convinced yourself that the Holy Spirit is POWERLESS to reach people with conviction of SIN????

Amen, Amen and Amen !

It doesn't really make sense to blame altar calls for people falling away.

Why not argue for better and clearer altar calls, rather than blame the practice itself for what is either, an incomplete presentation, or people's free will choice?

Makes no sense to shoot the messenger, get a better message.
