The Prophesy of the Exodus and the golden calf

In 1 Cor. 10, Paul is explaining about a Prophesy that was written years ago to warn us about a religious system we would encounter. Like so much of the Parables God had written, they "foreshadowed" events and problems we would encounter in the world God placed us in.

1 Cor. 10. 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent "we should not" lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play".

Now there were other events Paul warned of, but this first one is the one I want to bring attention to. It's important to understand that God is directing Paul here to warn us of what will happen in our world. Not just speaking about a random Bible story. God knew we would encounter these things in "our life", and Paul wanted to make sure we are not ignorant of this important fact. Since they were written for "our examples", we should be aware that we will encounter the same things?

So where is it written, "the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play" in the Law and Prophets?

Ex. 32: 1 And when the people saw that Moses "delayed" to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man "that brought us up out of the land of Egypt", we wot not what is become of him.

So in Paul's Time didn't God send Jesus to save the Lost Sheep of Israel, and bring them out of spiritual Egypt, or "SIN" as Egypt symbolizes? In the same way that God sent Moses to bring His Children Israel out of the bondage of Sin (Egypt)

Matt. 15: 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Ex. 3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel "out of Egypt".

And didn't God command through Moses that another Prophet, "Like unto Moses" shall come?

Duet. 18: 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. 14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, "hearkened unto" observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. 15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, "of thy brethren", like unto me; "unto him" ye shall hearken; This would be a prophesy of Jesus, Yes?

So let's continue with God's Warning through Paul concerning what caused "the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play."

2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. 3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a "molten calf": and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

So have you ever wondered why, of all things, the idol was fashioned after a "young bull (Male) calf"? Consider what is written.

Ex. 29: 36 And thou shalt offer every day a bullock (A young, unblemished male calf) for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it. 37 Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy.

So then, when Moses delayed his return from the Mountain of God, the people went to a Priest and asked him to make for them another god. And what was made, was an image of God after a likeness of the Sacrifice that God had provided them for atonement.

And what was the first thing they did after that?

5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and "Aaron made" proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Now let's look at the Church of God, God's chosen People of Paul's Time. They observed the Passover, followed by the Feast of Unleavened bread and counted the days correctly to honor God in the observance of Pentecost. These are not manmade feasts, like Aaron made for the rebellious Israelites, but were actually "Feast's of the Lord". They honored God in His Sabbaths that God made for them. They "Yielded themselves" Servants to OBEY God, and Yielded their bodies as instruments of righteousness unto God, and became "Servants of God's righteousness". They Honored God in His Judgments concerning drinking Blood, and animals strangled, and eating what God had deemed was not food.

But what happened to this church that was told to "Wait" for the return of the Christ, and "Endure to the End" of their live in Faith? When HE delayed His coming, didn't Jesus warn us that deceivers would "Come in His Name" and deceive "many"? Isn't that what happened to Israel in the wilderness?

Didn't Paul teach that men would "Transform themselves into apostles of Christ"? Who did Paul say would inherit eternal life?

Rom. 2: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

Why do we need patience continuance? Because Paul believes in the Prophesy that foretells of the Christ delaying his Coming?

Did Jesus warn us that there will be "Many" who call Jesus Lord, Lord, but refuse to walk in the Good work's God before ordained that we should walk in them, but not to be therefore like unto them?

Look at the religious system of this world now, who call Jesus Lord, Lord. Ezekiel tells those who believe in God's Inspired words about this prophesy.

Ez. 20: 18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: 19 I am the LORD your God; walk in "my" statutes, and keep "my" judgments, and "do" them; 20 And hallow "my" sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither "kept my judgments" to "do" them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted "my sabbaths": then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

How is this world's religious system of today, who comes in Christ's Name, not described perfectly in this prophesy?

22. Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth. 23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

24 Because they had not executed "my judgment"s, but had despised "my statutes", and had polluted "my sabbaths", and their eyes "were after their fathers' idols".

25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

Didn't modern religions who call Jesus Lord, Lord, not create images of God after their imagination of the likeness of the Sacrifice God provided for them for atonement? And don't they call this image their God? And this after many years of Jesus delaying His coming, because the early church would never engage in such wickedness? How is that any different than creating the image of the sacrifice, a young bullock?

And they have created their own high days in worship of this image, as Paul pints out, and the merchants of this earth are waxed rich promoting these popular man-made high days they created, "In Christ's Name", all around the world. While at the same time judging God's Feasts and Sabbaths and judgments as worthless Jewish Traditions.

The Exodus is a Prophesy written for "Our Admonition" "upon whom the ends of the world are come", about what we all will encounter. Otherwise, why would God have these things written for us? We who are believers should take heed, and "Come out of" this world's religious system, AKA Babylon, as the Lord's Christ teaches.

My hope is that you will consider what is actually written in Scriptures, while you seek the Kingdom of god and HIS Righteousness.

You said: "So in Paul's Time didn't God send Jesus to save the Lost Sheep of Israel, and bring them out of spiritual Egypt, or "SIN" as Egypt symbolizes? In the same way that God sent Moses to bring His Children Israel out of the bondage of Sin (Egypt)"

God didn't send Jesus to save the lost sheep of Israel and bring them out of spiritual Egypt. There was no such thing as spiritual Egypt only natural Olive tree Israel and to take them into spiritual Olive tree Israel, and this was done with the advent of the Holy Spirit of Promise PROMISED TO ISRAEL. When a Jew/Hebrew or mixed heritage Hebrew was born again they were converted from natural to spiritual. They remained obedient to the Law of Moses and were even zealous for the Law of Moses because according to Saul when a Jew is born again, they receive judgment from God and the conclusion is they are justified before God as having obeyed the Law of Moses as perfectly as Christ because as their substitution it was Christ who obeyed perfectly the Law of Moses and when a Jew is born again God has applied to that person the work Christ performed in their stead. Everything having to do with salvation was accomplished by Christ and applied to the believer when born again.

We who are born again are not to fear "the world's religious system" but one in particular. Now pay attention. This one "religion" will be a copycat of the original so that it will seem to come out of the Hebrew religion and it will also find some semblance to the Law of Moses. There is one key word that is found in the original that attempts to tie itself by this one word to the original and that word is "righteousness."

Righteousness finds its original use with Abraham in his act of attempting to sacrifice Isaac. Although the word "righteousness" does not appear in the narrative, Saul would later write to Jews and Jewish Christians in the Galatian region (it was a circular letter) and he brings up Abraham and God commanding him to sacrifice Isaac upon a homemade altar. First, Saul says:

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:21.

Saul ties "righteousness" to what Christ did by faith with Abraham and the attempted sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham. With Saul, there were some who followed Saul and attempted to teach the (Jewish) brethren things tied to the Law of Moses. One of those things Saul addressed had to do with how they were receiving the Spirit and the other was in circumcising mixed heritage Hebrews who became born again but were Jews who had a non-Hebrew parent, grew up as Gentiles in Gentile lands heavily influenced by Greek culture (Galatia was under Roman rule.) These were Jew-Gentile offspring who were assimilated into Gentile/Greek culture. They could have been the offspring of northern kingdom Hebrews who were conquered by the Assyrians in which case was called "Samaritan." Or they could have been the offspring of southern kingdom Hebrews and Babylonians and were called "Gentile" (due to the depth of their assimilation) or both. Saul continues:

1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Galatians 3:1–9.

If these "Galatians" were of mixed heritage Saul does not begin his argument with Moses, but with Abraham. We today can teach these mixed heritage Hebrews of Gentile upbringing the Ceremonial Law and righteousness which although temporary was what the sacrifice accomplished for one year (Yom Kippur) in atoning for their sin. But Saul goes to the beginning in bringing up Father Abraham and the covenant God made with him while he lived and with his seed, a seed Saul is attempting to tie to these mixed heritage Hebrews to through their Hebrew ancestors. There were many non-Hebrew ethnic (heathen) Gentiles that mixed it up with Hebrews not just the Assyrians and Babylonians where an explosion of mixed heritage offspring occurred as ordained by God. He scattered them, and He was to gather them up again. But this gathering would be in Christ. The "nations" that would be blessed can only refer to the offspring or seed of Abraham whether through Ishmael, Esau, or the twelve tribes through their dispersal beginning in 722 BC and again 586 BC. The remnant that returned with Nehemiah and later, Ezra, were predominantly the families of Judah, Benjamin, and a mixture of Judah/Benjamin-Gentiles. The ten northern kingdom tribes intermingled with non-Hebrew Gentiles the most as their exile lasted the longest but they remained in exile not desiring to return to Israel as their exile was most complete growing up Gentile and "being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world" (Eph 2:12.) Saul understood his audience. But what was a difficulty with Saul and mixed heritage Hebrews of the Galatian region became a serious problem later, specifically, after the Roman destruction of Israel and the Jewish Temple and the scattering of Hebrews in the AD 70 conflict.

So, what am I getting at? Only this. The Romans were at war with the Hebrews and mixed heritage Hebrews escaped unscathed, and with Jews scattered and Roman laws thereafter instituted to prevent their return to Jerusalem and Israel proper, this left mixed heritage Hebrews in majority after this war occupying the Jewish religion of the Mosaic tradition and the Christianity of the Jews. Jewish Christianity very soon took on a Gentile and Greek flavor, even their identity as these mixed heritage Hebrews of Gentile descent knew almost nothing of Hebrew history and culture and the original Jewish Christianity which was moored to Hebrew heritage after the ascension of Jesus Christ, became in time a Gentile "Christianity." This is what Saul warned the Thessalonians and the strong delusion that God would send - along with their Diaspora - among the people merely years yet future.

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:9–12.

And what is this lie?

The false teaching that grew out of Israel and beyond in Gentile lands under Greek culture that non-Hebrew Gentiles are included in the Abraham Covenant - but not the Mosaic Covenant - and included in the New Covenant despite the fact that Jeremiah's prophecy clearly state the New Covenant was to be a covenant between the God of Abraham and the House of Israel (ten northern kingdom tribes), and the House of Judah (two southern kingdom tribes.)

Talk about Mother of Harlots!

If you don't understand that being in bondage to Egypt symbolizes being in bondage to sin, then you don't understand what the Exodus is all about, and why Paul spoke about it in 1 Cor. 10 in the first place.

But thanks for the reply.

If you're going to quote me don't be dishonest and deceptive. Finish my quote. You cut it off and in doing so attempt to manipulate the minds of those that may read our conversation.
This is what I said:

"God didn't send Jesus to save the lost sheep of Israel and bring them out of spiritual Egypt. There was no such thing as spiritual Egypt only natural Olive tree Israel and to take them into spiritual Olive tree Israel, and this was done with the advent of the Holy Spirit of Promise PROMISED TO ISRAEL. When a Jew/Hebrew or mixed heritage Hebrew was born again they were converted from natural to spiritual."

When the children of Israel were in slavery in Egypt there was no national sin they were committing that led to their bondage and affliction. This is what you are implying by equating the way the Egyptians in time treated the Hebrews with Israel in a bondage to sin. First, their affliction was prophesied by God to Abraham.

12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
Genesis 15:12–14.

God says nothing about the Hebrew people committing sin as a nation and that their "service" in a land not theirs (Egypt) has nothing to do with the children of Israel committing sin. And then what is the excuse given in Exodus which God recounts the change in the relationship between the Hebrew people and the Egyptians. The Egyptians drew first blood. God was prospering His people, and it was the Egyptians who felt threatened by the Hebrews prosperity and growth. There is no mention of sin being committed by the children of Israel. If anything, it was the opposite. Righteousness.

7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
Exodus 1:7–14.

You want to assign some false symbolism to the Hebrew people that their bondage symbolized their being in bondage to sin. The text says nothing of the sort. The Hebrew people were NOT in some bondage of sin. If anything, God was pleased with His people. You need to fix your statements and bring your theology in line with the text of Scripture.

Your comment shows you in gross error and adding to the Bible things that are just not there.
Moses wasn't sent to bring the children of Israel out of the BONDAGE OF SIN; Israel wasn't in sin. You're making things up. That lie alone discredits your whole false interpretation of the text and a misrepresentation of Scripture.
