Do Catholics Pray to Mary?

The Prayer of Mary presents humility, simplicity, and selfless love as fitting responses to the loving invitation of God, who visits people in their daily lives and invites them into a relationship with Him.

The biblical texts say very little about Mary, and I believe that she would have wanted it that way. Instead, everything we know about her life pointed to her beloved Son and Savior. She didn’t say much, but she said one word that changed all of human history. She said yes. The word proceeded from the pure heart of a simple woman who could have just as easily said no. Instead she gave herself. She completely surrendered herself to the God who had first given Himself to her.

The path of choosing God means participating in His self-emptying love. When we assent to His invitation, our own personal histories are forever changed, and we are made new. When we give ourselves to God, freely offering back to Him what He has offered to us, we discover the deepest possible meaning in our lives, our purpose as found in Him. We begin to truly live because we begin to truly love.

Emptying ourselves in obedience to God allows Christ to become “incarnate,” to come into us and to live through each of us. Like Mary, we make a place for God. God respects His image in us, the Imago Deo, which is rooted and evident in our capacity to freely choose Him. Choosing to give ourselves away in love to God is the very essence, purpose, and meaning of human existence. Saying yes to God is the path to true peace, which, in the biblical sense, is about right relationships. Giving ourselves away to God opens the door to right relationships with Him, with one another, and with the entire universe that He has created. Giving ourselves away to God is not a one-time event. Rather, it is a way of living and a way of loving. It is a call to communion.

This is the paradox: in losing our life we actually find it in Him, and He is its source. In fact, no one understands better than God who we are and what we are like. The New Testament author of the letter to the Hebrews wrote: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15).

The Eternal Word, coexistent with the Father and the Spirit, in the perfect unity that is trinitarian love, became a real man in real time and in real history. Against all odds, He began His earthly life within the womb of a teenage Jewish virgin. Even before His birth in Bethlehem, Jesus sanctified all mothers by dwelling within the first temple, the new ark of the new covenant, the womb of His beloved, self-chosen mother. This fact is not incidental. God did not choose Mary as a receptacle. He chose her as a mother. Is it any wonder that His choice was given God chose Mary even before Mary chose God

Hmmm.
I know Catholic doctrine and I've never heard of this.

Maybe next time you hear something like this you could ask for something in writing.
A waste of time since the RUMAN CATHOLIC MARY THING doesn't exist (except probably as a re-purposing of the Roman "goddess" Diana). The REAL MARY, Jesus' mother, was a completely normal Jewish gal, who was obedient to God as the Mother of HIS SON, and who had a normal family also with Joseph whom she married, and when she got old, she died and was buried in the normal fashion.

All the absolute foolishness that Roman Catholicism piles on her/it is phony and often BLASPHEMOUS against Jesus, who is our ONLY INTERCESSOR, and that's eveerything we'll ever need.

Proving again you know nothing about the true faith. Not even scripture,

You should study more and speak less. Certainly speak less about a subject you know nothing about: catholicism.

Mary was not a normal gal,
she was titled “ completed in grace”, by the angel, the Lord was with her, as befits the mother of the messiah .
She was special. Have you called her blessed today?

She was a davidic queen, with all that followed including power of intercession with the king
Even before there was a New Testament , the fathers used inteecessory prayer to her.

Elizabeth said “ how am I honoured the mother of my lord should come to me” Honouring the mother.
Her offspring are those that keep the commandments. Do you?

And to this day she appears proven by miracles and prophecies to tell such as you to stop blaspheming.
Insulting the names of Mary and Jesus. Which you do unless you accept the true Eucharist.
You don’t, so even iraneus calls you a blasphemer! Centuries before the New Testament!

Tell me what do you call your one man know it all cult? It isn’t Christianity. You can find that in the early church.

In which you claim to know everything! And you claim all that came before know nothing.
Since you clearly think Jesus needs your help ( he doesn’t)

There surely must be a carrabio prophesied in the New Testament to bring the faith back?
Nope. Nor a luther, nor a calvin nor Zwingli. None of whom agreed with each other even on Mary!
The only quality they had in spades and , share with the” trees” and “carrabios” is arrogance.

Because , the true faith , we are assured will be preached to the end of time by those sent so we are assured!

You just are incapable of listening.
Unteachable.
So Why don’t you listen to those sent? Do you not like the message?
Or accept the sources to resolve conflict , that Jesus gave,?

As for your false sola scriptura, ( meaning carrabios opinion of scripture)
Where in the New Testament does it say it has to be in the New Testament anyway ?
Listen to the faith handed down. Tradition.

You stated this in post no. 375:
"Protestants give the REAL Mary, mother of Jesus the full and proper respect, and admiration that she fully deserves!!!

What we refuse to acknowledge are the totally fictitious, satanic, and BLASPHEMOUS claims about the "CATHOLIC MARY THING" and her supposed intercessory functions - even including to "Protecting us" against Jesus' judgementalism!!!!"

I asked you how you know this.

YOU replied that you know it from posters, maybe Catholic, that believe this.

I ask you for something in writing.

Your reply is that it's a waste of time??

If you make a statement regarding the CC that is INCORRECT....
you'll have to back it up with something in writing.

Otherwise,,,please don't make statements about the CC that are not true.
