Your Views on The Trinity

Nonsense. the terms First and Last is the Aleph and Tav. now as for the Lord Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega, applies to the Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:13 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." is not the Lord Jesus who was Christ died? yes and is not the First and the Last he? let's see. Revelation 1:17 "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:" Revelation 1:18 "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

well Pete, the only one 101G know of in the bible here in Revelation, who was DEAD, and now alive (RISEN), is the Lord Jesus who was Christ.
we suggest you quit listening to scholars who as you say, "are not completely sure what the phrase “the Alpha and the Omega” means.". READ YOUR BIBLE, and LISTEN to God who KNOWS. Pete, that was a poor excuse, 101G is surprise of you. Alpha and Omega is the FIRST and the LAST, just as Revelation 22:13 and Revelation 1:17 clearly states. and the First and the last is the same reference to the Hebrew alphabet "Aleph" and "Tau" ... first and Last, as well as our English Beginning and End, same reference. Pete, 101G is Suprise you didn't KNOW this. any basic beginner of bible study KNOWS this.

again NONESENSE. Pete 101G will ask you only one more time. to show you that the Lord Jesus is God who is the Alpha and the Omega” the almighty. once again, only ONE sits on the throne, is this the Lord Jesus who is called the son, or the one whom you call the God the Father. your answer please.

now Pete, if you say it's the Father who sits on the throne, again, who gave the Father Power? book chapter and verse. but 101G can give book chapter and verse where he who sits on the throne "RECEIVED" POWER. 101G will be looking for your answer. just give book chapter and verse only, no excuse.

so, you have two "Lord's?", and you have two, "Savior?", and two, "King of kings" and two, "beginning and ends" that's polytheism by definition. you still cannot see what YOU'RE saying? you still don't see it do you? MY GOD how blind can one be. it's the same one person in "DIVERSITY" of his own self, or the ECHAD of his ow self in flesh. my God 101G cannot believe someone can be that blind. it's not any they, but HIM "EQUALLY" SHARED, in Glorified Flesh. better known as .... another. and here's the title of Revelation, "ROOT" and "OFFSPRING" (see Revelation 22:16), which is the same as First and Last, the same as Aleph and Tav, the same as Alpha and the Omega, the same as Beginning, and End. RIGHT there before your face and still cannot see it. as the apostle Paul by the Lord Jesus said afore, "who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth".

101G cannot believe how lost so many are in the face of the TRUTH, the written word of God.

well Pete, 101G is about disclosure. the TERM "OFFSPRING" in Revelation 22:16 says it all.
Offspring: G1085 γένος genos (ǰe'-nos) n.
kin.
{abstract or concrete, literal or figurative, individual or collective}
[from G1096]
KJV: born, country(-man), diversity, generation, kind(-red), nation, offspring, stock
Root(s): G1096

God shared in flesh, is a KINSman with us, for, Hebrews 2:14 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"

by taking part in flesh and blood, this is the diversity or the EQUAL SHARE of God in Flesh. better known as the H259 אֶחָד 'echad (ech-awd') of God.

this is just too easy not to understand.

Pete, you and many trinitarians are in a delusion, 2 Thessalonians 2:10 "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." 2 Thessalonians 2:11 "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:" 2 Thessalonians 2:12 "That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

you have been warned by God.

“I am the first and the last, and the Living One, and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of the grave” (Rev. 1:17, 18). Patrick Navas observes:

“Jesus is the one who ‘was dead’ but now lives.... In two out of three instances where Jesus describes himself as ‘the First and the Last’ in the book of Revelation, the statement is made in association with his death and subsequent resurrection. …If ‘the First and the Last’ in this case means, or ultimately implies, ‘God (Almighty), the Eternal One,’ in what way would it make sense for Jesus to say, in effect, ‘I am the Eternal God, I died but came to life’? How strange and how unlikely—if not impossible—would it have been for God to have died or said that he died? Even many Trinitarians teach that ‘God,” or the ‘divine nature/aspect of Christ,’ did not die, in any way. …So Trinitarians would have to argue, ultimately, that Jesus is identifying himself as God by calling himself ‘the First and the Last’ and, immediately after, switching to, or speaking out of, his ‘human nature,’ due to the fact that he died. This would clearly be a case of ‘playing fast and loose’ with Scripture.

Our brother @Peterlag said, "We cannot approach the Bible with wisdom and “reason together”if we must invent and use non-biblical phrases to support our theology. Such as words like God the son, the deity, trinity, or that “God” means “the Father” when Jesus speaks of himself and “God."

this is Good, so, let us HEAR what the Apostles said about God, ...... Jesus, ...... the titles, Father, .......Son. and a trinity or not. the bible is our definitive proof, correct?

Wrong. As the word Bible itself is a non-biblical phrase... (It is not in there)... Perhaps we could call it the collection of Scriptures?

Tanakh, also known in Hebrew as Miqra, is the canonical collection of Hebrew scriptures, comprising the Torah, the Nevi'im, and the Ketuvim.
So there needs to be a new application to replace that word Bible.
let's look at a clear example of this definitive proof.
Keeping in step with the subject matter, “Your Views on The Trinity”. since the apostle Paul is the apostle to the uncircumcised/Gentiles, and the apostle Peter is the apostle the circumcise/Jews, let’s hear their biblical view on a trinity or not. Since both was sent by the Lord Jesus.

First The apostle Paul. On his way to Damascus, to lock up Christians, see Acts 9:2. he encountered the Lord Jesus on the road there, who commission him. For our brother Ananias said this, Acts 22:14 "And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth."

Well the God of our fathers as Ananias said is the “LORD”, who many today say is the Father. So, correctly the Lord Jesus is the Father as well as the Son, the same one person. only in the ECHAD of Ordinal First and Ordinal Last.

Good, now, did Patrick Navas observe this also? Revelation 22:13 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." the SAME ONE PERSON.

well Pete you're on the road to recovery.....

listen and learn, Mark 10:27 "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." and here in the bible that possibility is "DIVERSITY", the EQUALLY SHARING of HIMSELF in Glorified Flesh and bone. better known as the ECHAD of God. Oh how simple .

What Hebrew word did Thomas use? It was not YHWH, for "my YHWH" never appears in all of scripture. The translators who translated the Gospels from Hebrew to Greek could not have been Jews for they made not difference in translating both YHWH and Elohim into "theos". Thomas obviously said "my Elohim" which means "my mighty one".

What word did Apostle John use to record Thomas' words? He used "Θεός" (Theos), not Elohim. Why do you even bring up the word "Elohim"? You're parroting whatever Judaizing cults are saying. May you and your Judaizing friends be happy with each other.

To: @Peterlag:

You've been exposed as someone who thinks he knows better than what Apostles wrote in the NT. That's the definition of a heretic. Are you going to run away again and keep hiding? I wouldn't be surprised at all if you keep running away from the truth as you always do.

Run Peterlag Run!

GINOLJC, to all.
Nonsense, and here's why. Psalms 110:1 "A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool." UNDERSTAND, my Lord who sits at the LORD right hand is him the LORD in flesh. 4 verses later reveal this FACT. Psalms 110:5 "The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath."
Here, the "Lord", the same "my Lord" in verse 1 is the "LORD" himself in flesh as said, because the Hebrew Term "Lord" here is
H136 אֲדֹנָי 'Adonay (ad-o-noy') n-m.
1. (meaning) Lord (used as a proper name of God only).
2. (person) Adonai, The Lord God of Israel (which is actually “Yahweh God of Israel
” - see Exodus 5:1 and 120 other occurrences).
[am emphatic form of H113]
KJV: (my) Lord.
Root(s): H113

note two things. #1. examine definition #2. the Lord is the LORD, who is the God of Israel. and that's in the Hebrew...... so you're reprove there.

#2. notice, [am emphatic form of H113], the EMPHATIC FORM of H113 in verse 1. if you don't know what emphatic mean please look it up.

so your assessment is in correct, what Thomas say is TRUE, and CORRECT. "
My Lord and my God"

None of this stuff fits with any other subject in the Bible. No teaching, but just twisted possible concepts. Often from bad translations, poor understanding of their customs, or just don't know how to read. For example if one Lord said to another Lord. Then that would mean there's two.

ERROR, "ECHAD" in ordinal designation. not two separate and distinct person... NO, only ONE PERSON, Equally Shard.

now let 101G make it plain. you said, "if one Lord said to another Lord. Then that would mean there's two". that's sheer IGNORANCE on your part. listen and learn. Isaiah 41:4 "Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he." is the first and the last two persons? of course not. the same one person. Revelation 22:13 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." is the first and the last here two persons? no, of course not. now learn, Isaiah 48:12 "Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last." BINGO, same one person. in additional to being the First/LORD, Father, he is "ALSO" the Last/Lord, Son....... UNDERSTAND? see that "WITH" is indicating the same one person who is GOD. just READ the scriptures, and get understanding for the Holy Spirit, GOD.

see Pete, that excuse, "None of this stuff fits with any other subject in the Bible" maybe it's your stuffs that is not fitting with the bible.

understand the Hebrew H259 ECHAD, and in the Greek G243 Allos .......... (smile), and that covers both OT and NT.

as you said, "For example", John 3:13 "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." while on earth in a flesh, bone and blood body, he the Lord Jesus was in heaven, (Spirit), at the same exact time...... the same one person. this is the power of knowing the Hebrew H259 ECHAD, and in the Greek G243 Allos. this is just too easy.

101G.

P.S. if you cannot understand this, (the Hebrew H259 ECHAD, and in the Greek G243 Allos), just leave it alone, and stay in darkness.

To those outside the Christian faith, the doctrine of the Trinity seems a very strange teaching indeed. It seems to violate logic, for it claims that God is three and yet that he is one. How can this be? And why would the church propound such a doctrine? It does not appear to be taught in Scripture, which is the Christian’s supreme authority in matters of faith and practice. And it presents an obstacle to faith for those who otherwise might be inclined to accept the Christian faith. Is it a teaching that perhaps was a mistake in the first place, and certainly is a hindrance and an embarrassment to Christianity? Could it be omitted from Christian faith and theology, without any loss and even with considerable gain? I submit that the doctrine of the Trinity is of great importance in our time, and therefore needs to be examined carefully, for several reasons.

First, this doctrine historically was the first that the church felt it necessary to elaborate in a definitive fashion. The church began preaching its message, which entailed the deity of Jesus as well as that of the Father. It had not thoroughly worked out the nature of the relationship between these two persons, however. Christians simply assumed that both were God. Soon some persons began to raise questions regarding just what this meant. The proposals they made in attempting to give some concrete content did not sound totally correct to many Christians, however, so a more complete explanation was worked out. This became the full doctrine of the Trinity, that all three, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are divine, but that they are not three Gods, but one. It was deemed essential to the life of the church to hold this doctrine of God’s three-in-oneness.

It was not simply the church of the third and fourth centuries that encountered challenges to this view. Although more than fifteen centuries have gone by since the church took its stand, there are still varieties of Christianity that deny the Trinity. This is still very much an issue in our time, as groups such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses dispute the full deity of Jesus and thus the doctrine of the Trinity. Numerous cults and sects reject this view, as do some liberal Christians within better known Christian denominations.

Making Sense of the Trinity
Having read through the bible word for word six times now, I find the doctrine of the Trinity nowhere near as well clearly impied as I had once assumed it would be.

The verses used to support it...well...they don't really go all the way toward stating that Jesus is God. There are many scriptures that, taken at face value, seem to preclude the idea that Jesus is God.

Son of God? Yes.
One with God? Yes.
Savior? Yes.
God himself? I don't see that clearly stated.

So now I'm undecided on the issue. I lean slightly toward Unitarianism but not conclusively.

What I can say is that I no longer think the Trinity is essential Christian doctrine. It is not necessary to believe it to be saved, certainly. If it were, then the apostles themselves were unsaved, at least prior to the resurrection.

In short, I used to think the Trinity was fundamental to Christianity itself. I now frankly don't believe it's all that big of an issue one way or the other. Trinitarianism could be true. Unitarianism could be true. The things that Jesus came to accomplish? They are accomplished either way.

Only God saves.

(Isa 43:11) I am God; and beside me there is no Savior.

Now notice how Jesus is the only Savior throughout the NT:

Matt 1:21 And she shall bear a son, and you shall call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your household.
Rom 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
Php 3:20 For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which also we are looking for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
1Tim 1:15 Faithful is the Word and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope, and the appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Titus 3:6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
2Pet 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of our God and our Savior Jesus Christ,
2Pet 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2Pet 2:20 For if they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the full knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and are again entangled, they have been overcome by these, their last things are worse than the first.
2Pet 3:18 But grow in grace and in knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

So this begs the question. Who is the True Jesus?
Is it the Unitarian Jesus who is just a man and therefore cannot save?
Is it the Muslim Jesus who is very much like the Unitarian Jesus, except that he never underwent the Cross, and therefore cannot save?
Or is it the Trinitarian Jesus who is the Uncreated Word of God who does save because he is God?

The problem with your idea about the apostles is that you do not have their elaboration on the nature of Christ and the Spirit in the form that would satisfy your expectations. The text often reveals Christ as God in ways you overlook it. Also, they only address issues relate to the recipients of their gospels and letters. So they do not have to say Jesus is God in the epistles when everyone knows that. (But we do have John 1 that shows that and is shared with all of us.)
I do not hold that every believer has to know and confess the Trinity doctrine accurately to be justified in Christ. The refinement of the conception of God is more to exclude heresies. This refinement came as a result of disputes that divided the church and thus was sought to be resolved. Just because various misconceptions about the nature of Christ in the Godhead does not mean that all the views were correct or acceptable. That is why the effort was made to get this resolved.
If the Trinitarian doctrine is not required for everyone to confess or believe as a matter of salvation, that does not mean the doctrine is useless. We first see that the focus was on understanding how the divine persons exist as one in the Godhead. The second is that the groups that deny the Trinity diminish the significance of Christ and his ability to die for our sins and reconcile us to God. Adherence to the Trinity doctrine at a church-group level is therefore important to avoid all sorts of heresies.

God's unique work in this world appears to be intertwined with his Trinitarian essence and that shows his uniqueness from the religions of the world. If someone can defend a better concept against the Trinitarian one, that would be worth consideration. However, the arguments seen here against Christ's eternal existence as God have seemed to be very weak with denials that are simply illogical -- of denying obvious points of the passages about Christ being sent from heaven and living among the people.

A degree of caution should be given about reading the Bible on your own. The benefit is to have the inspiration and filter of scripture available in your life. You can also be ready for a broader understanding of messages shared. You may also detect some obvious errors.
The caution is against challenging doctrines that are accurate but not readily discerned. These doctrines, such as the issues of the law, might involve key scriptures and substantiating arguments. There are also ideas that could be misunderstood in a direct reading of scripture due to translation issues.
You may be able to figure out some insights into scripture. But if they are changing major doctrines, it is better to get into the debate on the issue and try to argue within the debate.

Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. GINOLJC,
First, a good list, but may 101G suggest a different way of understanding the above scriptures. scripture, John 1:3 "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." now this, Isaiah 44:24 "Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;"

question, "is this the same one person in both scriptures who MADE ALL THINGS?". note in Isaiah 44:24 he was "ALONE" and "BY HIMSELF". and Alone means, "having no one else present:".

101G.

A lot of this is assuming the thing in question. The recipients could just as easily already known that Jesus is not God himself. That’s the whole question at hand isn’t it?

I do not hold that every believer has to know and confess the Trinity doctrine accurately to be justified in Christ. The refinement of the conception of God is more to exclude heresies. This refinement came as a result of disputes that divided the church and thus was sought to be resolved. Just because various misconceptions about the nature of Christ in the Godhead does not mean that all the views were correct or acceptable. That is why the effort was made to get this resolved.
I appreciate that you don’t believe questioners of teh Trinity doctrine are unsaved. It’s only in recent years that I have questioned the Trinity but haven’t shared this with a single person in my church because I don’t want to deal with the fallout. Personally, if I suddenly realized the Trinity was undoubtedly true it would change almost nothing in my Christian walk.

These are disputable points. That God sent his son, a human, could actually be seen as a greater sacrifice than if he just sent himself. It also adds, in my view, to the difficulty Jesus faced. It would add to the devotion to the Father if he were human than if he were God himself. The obedience is even greater, and his relatability to God's children (us) deeper.

It may help somewhat for you to know that I've listened to many hours of debate, read commentaries, etc. But I think it's important to read the bible through as well. Christians who don't do so have much more difficulty interpreting the unclear in light of the clear which is fundamental to biblical interpretation. I would place the Trinity in the category of unclear. God could easily have made it clear, but he chose not to do so, either because the Trinity is true but he doesn't think it's all that essential to know, or because it's not a true doctrine.

Better go for that 7th time... Following copy and pasted says it...
I made some red for clarity... but I have to stop as I have to leave soon.... You read the others and then tell us you dont see it.

That they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.
The problem with machine gunning scriptures is that I don't know where to start, lol. As you can imagine, reading through the bible word for word six times has given me occasion to read these texts at least six times each. It's also allowed me to place these passages in the context of the whole probably a bit better than the average Christian. Most of them don't speak to Jesus' divinity at all. Very few cause any problem to a unitarian (though, let's face it, nearly every doctrine has passages that, on their face, seem to go against it).

None of them is as clear for the Trinity as other passages are for the view that Jesus is not God himself. For example 1 Timothy 2:5, to me at least, seems to make the idea that Jesus is God himself extremely unlikely (if you don't come to it with Trinitarian lenses firmly affixed):
  • For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.
