2 Timothy 2
11 Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with him,
we will also live with him;
12 if we endure,
we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
he will also disown us;
13 if we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.

14 Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. 21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

1 Peter 1
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.
And this is the word that was preached to you.

Rocky's back in the ring, watch out.

I think he's just trying to help...
-and "Rocky" is not back in the ring-disagreements on doctrinal doctrines is normative.
Head knowledge-void of what really matters.
Even demons can quote Scriptures.

1Jn 4:1 Chaverim, do not believe every ruach. [YIRMEYAH 29:8] But test the ruchot (spirits), if they be of Hashem, because many nevi'ei sheker have gone out into the Olam Hazeh.

Thanks
Johann.

Just lost all my respect for him.

I wrestle over the copyright laws, honestly. They are very strange and unusual set of laws. There are countries who don't apply or enforce copyright laws in the same way the USA does.

One could object to it on grounds of morality, and some other theoretical things. I understand the logic behind it, and there are ways it is simply impossible to enforce.

I think we should have a tender heart and pray sincerely about it—we shouldn't be stubborn and belligerent right off the bat. It says taxes to whom taxes are due, and to try to obey the laws of the land.

So it's not a cut and dried issue, and we shouldn't be too presumptive and prideful without giving it serious consideration. It does say no one despises a thief who steals merely to help his hunger.

Let's keep a low spirit about it... and I'm glad you are not in the ring. :)

You know what? You both give me a wry smile.
Now-if you want to discuss Scriptures-let's do it-if not-forbear.

Got a good deal on Michael Brown's 5 volume Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus.

Planning to work through the books and accompany videos here: Youtube.

My Dad really had a heart for the Jews and he had the set back then—very nostalgic.

I’m still wallowing in ”the mud, the blood and the beer” with Origen but employing a strategy that will help me finish him. I’m currently reading less of Origen daily and filling the freed up time reading The Formation of Christian Dogma, written by Martin Werner.

So this thread is about favorite books. Let me ask everyone. Is there some type of book, and I don't mean the Bible, or some theological book but just something we can have to give people that can spark their interests in spiritual things. Books I mean that can help people from and evangelical perspective. Again I know some might say the Gospel of John and I agree that's great but.....just something like short testimony books etc.

Interesting title Civic. But now you've go me curious. What do they mean by the title Calvin's Desperation? What do they say he was desperate about?
Divine determinism haunted him and his stubbornness could not let go of it. That’s the premise of the book

This Present Darkness is entertaining and got a lot of people interested in spiritual things.

Maybe a famous Christian's biography?

I personally think prayer is the thing that makes the biggest difference.

Just got delivered via Amazon the book called "Sleight of Mind" Vol 1, "The myth of the Christian Trinity" by Steven Blake

It will be great reading for when I get away from the house for a week or so later this month.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I haven’t read it, but I will. I just ordered it, and the second volume. I also just ordered a reprint of “The True Believer’s Defense, Against Charges Preferred By Trinitarians, For Not Believing In The Divinity Of Christ, The Deity Of Christ, The Trinity, &c.” written by Charles Morgridge (in 1837).

My personal library probably comtains around 500 books, with about 90% of them written by trinitarian authors. (I seldom read unitarian authors. I primarily read trinitarian authors.) When people go through my private library after I die, I don’t want them to get the idea in their heads that I was a Jewish monotheist in public but a trinitarian behind closed doors!

My wife asked me recently what I might want to have placed on my tombstone. I’m seriously thinking about having “The hound of Jewish monotheism” inscribed on it. (A long time ago now, a trinitarian pinned it on me for the purpose of ridiculing my relentlessness about Jewish monotheism. I came to like the line - not just because it is me, but because Jewish monotheism itself is the hound that incessantly pursues mankind - and I‘ve used it ever since on Internet discussion forums I’ve been on. What was intended to harm me has worked to my benefit.)
