The Gospel Of Salvation

What, @Eternally-Grateful, do you understand here in 2 Peter 3:1-7?

2 Peter 3:1-7 (KJV) 1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in [both] which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Except this is not talking about it

Romans 10:5–13 (LEB) — 5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: “The person who does this will live by it.” 6 But the righteousness from faith speaks like this: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or “Who will descend into the abyss?” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near to you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim), 9 that if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who is rich to all who call upon him. 13 For “everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”

This concerns an initial righteousness and so refutes your theology
They were already saved if they done those things, already regenerated.

I understand that the world before the flood perished.

So to try to use things we see today, to determine the age of the earth. would be a flawed thought..

yet we see scoffers today..

Yes, Paul had heard of their Faith and wanted to preach the Gospel to them Rom 1:8,15

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

They [some jews] needed to be converted to the Gospel, they were worshipping God ignorantly, but they had the zeal of God Rom 10:1-4

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Unconverted but saved eternally and regenerated. The Gospel when it comes to Salvation is only for the conversion of the Spiritually alive, who need Gospel Knowledge of Christ who saved them.
Gotta agree. The Elect were justified (saved) wayyyyy back when … before the foundation of the world.

Jeremiah 1:4-9 (KJV) 4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
