The doctrine of election

The Doctrine of Election shows us the Grace of God and made the difference between believing the Truth of the Gospel verses falling prey to the antichrist doctrines that will bring destruction on the non elect world deceived with false gospels, notice 2 Thess 2:7-14

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8;And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9;Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10;And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11;And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12;That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel,
to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If not for election from the beginning, being beloved of God from all eternity, the elect also would be under strong delusion to believe a lie, and be damned !

God elected the Gospel to save.

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

You don't have life without the preacher. None. God works with the preacher.

It is... then you must have been saved without the necessity of preaching.... right? You don't even know the entirety of the doctrine of TULIP. You haven't really studied it. This is why you have about 2 or 3 responses you keep repeating over and over again. You show your lack of seeking to know TULIP.

God must have keep from understanding it right???? Or you would know it.... Right?????

Never mind you don't really want to know because it is difficult to read all that Latin Calvin and his followers actually wrote....

Knowing God requires natural things. There is no absence of the natural when it comes to knowing God. In fact, you must accept natural things before you will ever know God.

That scripture in 1 Cor 1 21 is about converting one of the chosen ones with the Gospel. They already have the Spirit. They already saved spiritually 1 Cor 1:18

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

But u cant understand these things.

I'm going to try one more time. TULIP is clearly defined. You didn't define. You didn't develop the doctrine. You don't understand it because you have never really studied it. The standards were defined by the Synod of Dort or the Westminster Confession. Which. BTW.... are contradictory to one another. You don't know this because you have never really put forth the effort to study it.

Example relative to learning, people can study a subject that is defined and given in the human language such as Information Technology standards as define by ISO can know the standards of IT. You don't know those standards yourself because you have never sought to know them. I bet you will google that information it to try and find what I mean by this. You will then come back and insist you know it even though you've never lived it or practiced it in a professional environment. We know things we care about. What we seek to learn takes effort and time. Sacrifices that you are not willing to do yourself. Which is why you don't know it.

However, you can change that. You can actually start consuming the information necessary to learn it. It isn't complicated. The information is right there to be had. Calvinists are lazy. They repeat themselves without ever learn anything. They are willingly ignorant.

One last time. Were you saved before you heard the Gospel?

Election is a Gospel Doctrine in that its center to Salvation by Grace, which is grounded in Sovereign Election of Grace Rom 11:5-8

5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear unto this day.

And to have the proper perspective of election of grace, those not elected are positively blinded or hardened

The Psalms give the proper perspective, because where there is a election, there's a rejection Ps 78:67-68

67 ;Moreover he refused/rejects the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

68 ;But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

See the exercise of Gods sovereignty in election and rejection ?

The Gospel emphasizes Gods reign in Salvation Isa 52:7

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

The verity of election,

Jesus owns that there is an elect people in the world, Matt 24:22-24,31

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

31
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Mark 13:20

And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Jesus uses both elect and chosen interchangeably here !

One last time. Were you saved before you heard the Gospel?

Nope...
and now I'd like to use this to springboard into an explanation of my understanding of these issues, :)

First, all beings created in HIS image, ie, able to become HIS Bride by their free will, were created.

Second, every creature in HIS image heard the proclamation of HIS gospel of salvation from any sin they might sin in the future:
Col 1:23
Berean Standard Bible
...if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

This gospel included the PROMISE of election that any who put their free will faith without any proof in the Son as their saviour from any sin would indeed be chosen to be saved from their sinfulness and would become HIS Bride. Any who rejected Him as their saviour by repudiating Him for any reason by faith, ie, without any proof of failure, would be enslaved by their sudden addiction to evil and, as unable to save themselves, would be self locked into sinfulness forever, fitted only for destruction, ie, banishment to the outer darkness.

As for those elect who chose to sin by rebelion to HIM (probably because they believed that since they were promised to be saved from condemnation to hell and would therefore never die they were safe to sin), they became the sinners who believed yet were never condemned though they had to live with the reprobate until they learned to come out from among those condemned already so they could be, John 3:18 with Matt 13:27-30.

Third, after everyone had self created their eternal relationship with YHWH by their free will choice of faith without any proof as 1. never sinful (ie, holy), or 2. as never believing (ie, those condemned already) or as 3. believers who chose to sin, all sinners were flung down to Sheol, Rev 12:4-9, in the earth, a prison planet with a rehab centre in it, (ie, the church). From Sheol sinners are sown into the world, Matt 13:36-39, for the sanctification of the sinful elect to speed up the coming of the heavenly marriage and the heavenly age.

ImCo, that is....

One last time. Were you saved before you heard the Gospel?

Depends on what phase of salvation you mean,

The elect are eternally saved in purpose before the foundation of the world due to their election in Christ Eph 1:4 and Grace given them in Christ Jesus before the world began 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

These had their names written in the lambs book of life from the foundation of the world Rev 13:8

They were saved from the legal phase before they heard the Gospel by the substitutionary death of Christ which reconciled them to God Rom 510

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Those reconciled God is at peace with them, legally saved Col 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

The reconciled dont have sins charged to them 2 Cor 5:19

19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Thats why He is at peace with the reconciled.

The elect are spiritually saved by regeneration b4 they hear the Gospel otherwise they have no spiritual ears to hear spiritual news, the gospel of their salvation Jesus says one is of God to hear Gods word Jn 8:47

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Is one practically saved or converted before they hear the Gospel ? No, the Gospel is sent to them to save them practically and conversionally 1 Cor 1:21

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

This is when the elect are saved doctrinally from errors and false gospels. Thats what Paul meant when he told Timothy this 1 Tim 4:16

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

And there is a eternal glorified saving yet to come for the elect Rom 13:11

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Election, briefly stated, is God’s eternal, unconditional choice of some fallen sinners unto eternal life in Jesus Christ. Reprobation is God’s eternal rejection of others. God chose not to save them but to punish them in the way of their sins. This too is an unconditional choice of God before He formed the world.

Election to Salvation is unconditional, and the elect are born Gods elect, even though they are born sinners and hating God as others, yet nevertheless they were because of election of grace seperated from their mothers womb as Paul was Gal 1:15

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

Yes all the elect, though not apostles, shall be when it pleases God, effectually called by Gods Grace to believe in Jesus, for then He will be revealed in them.

Gods call of grace isn't conditioned on the freewill of man, it comes while in the debts of unbelief, it makes us believers by grace.

Gal 1:15 commentary,

Gal 1:15 (KJB)But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, Pleased - Delight in, approve, or consent Separated - Set apart or having selected Here is an interesting verse stating that God was pleased when He had separated Paul or selected Him from his mother’s womb. God knows who His elect are even before they are born. God had chosen all His elect before the foundations of the world. (Eph 1:4 KJV) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Even though those of us who are saved, became saved at different times in our lives, yet, all the Elect of God were chosen before the foundation of the world. All of the Elect were set apart in our mother’s womb even if we do not get saved until later in life. This salvation is our calling by grace and grace alone. It is interesting that Paul injects that he was saved from his mother’s womb and I believe the reason is that the Judaizers had emphasized works to coincide with grace for salvation. If a person is in the womb, then what works can they do to facilitate their salvation? The answer is obvious, they can do none and this is why this verse is included because it shows that grace is the only vehicle by which a person can be saved, even in the womb where no works can be done. How could the Judaizers debate works with a person who was saved from the womb without works? This is the wisdom of the Scriptures. https://www.scionofzion.com/galatians_1_13_18.htm

unconditional choice
Unconditional election is anathema to me...because unconditional election means unconditional non-election, people being damned (chosen for reprobation) before they sin.

1 Timothy 5:21 I charge thee before GOD and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the ELECT ANGELS. Since there are elect angels we can assume that the demonic angels were passed over for election or not considered for election. Angels do not presumably have any racial solidarity, ie, they all are holy or sinful by their own choice, not by anyone else's choice. So now we have to answer the question: were some elected before or after the fall of the Satanic rebellion?

IF they were elected / chosen before the fall then there is no stated reason for the non-election of the others. Unconditional, unmerited, election then also means unconditional unmerited non-election, ie, for no lack of merit or sinful condition at all, some were passed over for salvation and NOT chosen to be saved if they should ever sin.

What can we make of such a supposition? Can we say it is loving? Righteous? Just? The best we can say is HE is sovereign and if HE chose this way then who are you to argue, which is not a real answer at all. Why teach us HE is loving, righteous and just if it has no meaning in the biggest question in their existence: Why were some passed over for election!!!

[ASIDE: It is entirely possible that the decision for some to receive unconditional unmerited election and others to receive unmerited rejection for election with no indication that this decision was loving, righteous or just could have precipitated the Satanic war in heaven when the non-elect were subject to a decision that was NOT loving, righteous or just so they committed themselves to war, putting their faith in the belief that YHWH was a false god and a liar, unworthy of being their GOD.]

This is what unconditional implies. It implies 'no reason', not just an 'unknown reason' because if there was a reason there would be merit to being on the side of the reason. Unconditional election means everyone was just as acceptable for election as everyone but some did not receive it....that is what 'without merit' also means! That does NOT sound like GOD at all. IF they were passed over for an evil they did then there is a righteous reason to their being passed over and to the election of those that were not passed over but who got the promise of election because they did not do that evil!!

IF election was a response to the Satanic rebellion to reward those angels who did not rebel and to pass over those angels who did rebel and condemn them on the spot, then election by merit makes sense. Their rebellion to the command to put their faith in the Son and to love one another which they heard in the beginning* is then the reason they were passed over to be HIS Bride. The choice by some to accept HIM as their GOD and to put their faith in HIS Son was then the reason they were elected based upon the merit of this choice to obey the commandment.

*the beginning:
1 John 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. I believe that John is referring to the loving purpose GOD has for each of us: 1 John 3:23 And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Thus we probably have a precedent in the angels for election being based upon merit and proper free will decisions being the condition of being elected or becoming reprobate.

And since unconditional election is apparently false in the first people elected, I strongly suggest that it is also wrongly used for sinful men who were also elected in the beginning before the foundation of the world, Ephesians 1:4.

Unconditional election is anathema to me...because unconditional election means unconditional non-election, people being damned (chosen for reprobation) before they sin.
President Biden just pardoned EVERYONE sentenced to death because he believed that no one should be executed by the State. [I am not commenting on this as right or wrong, it is just a fact.]

Unconditional Election is a God that will not pardon EVERYONE sentenced to death because everyone sentenced to death is guilty of sin and DESERVES the death sentence. ["Already condemned" as John 3:18 says]. However, Unconditional Election states that God will pardon SOME ... not because they deserve it (nobody deserves it, all are guilty), but because it pleases GOD to do so ["I will show mercy on whom I will show mercy." as Exodus 33:19 and Romans 9:15 state ... OT and NT].

All men choose "reprobation" for themselves [As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." - Romans 3:10-12 NKJV] ... God refuses to allow that reprobate choice to stand for ... "as many as had been appointed to eternal life" - Acts 13:48 and "the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day." - said Jesus [John 6:44 NKJV]

Unconditional election is anathema to me...because unconditional election means unconditional non-election, people being damned (chosen for reprobation) before they sin.
Unconditional election is anathema to anyone who really understands God's election to salvation.

and now I'd like to use this to springboard into an explanation of my understanding of these issues, :)

First, all beings created in HIS image, ie, able to become HIS Bride by their free will, were created.
Your post is very strange to say the least. This is the gospel according to TedT, which is blatantly "another" gospel.

Only
our first parents were created after the image of God, with a free will ~ Adam stood as the head of his generation of flesh and blood. So, he is called the first Adam by Paul, who was of the earth, earthly. Adam was not a private person, but was appointed the representative as the head of all of his posterity by the appointment of God his Creator.

Once Adam sinned, which was immediately, since God left him to the power of his own will, without giving him any assistance, or securing him in the state in which he was created, which God was not under obligation to do so ~ he lost God's image of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and righteousness. All that proceeds from his loins now have his fallen nature (image) that is void of spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and certainly of any righteousness.
Second, every creature in HIS image heard the proclamation of HIS gospel of salvation from any sin they might sin in the future:
You Then you quoted:
Col 1:23
Berean Standard Bible
...if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Without going into this scriptures in depth, we will only say, that this true, in the sense that the heavens declare the glory of God, per Psalms 19.
It is also true that the apostles/prophets/Christians preached to all the known world in their day per Colossians 1:23 ~yet, folks did not hear the truth of these things with the image of God, but with their fallen image that Adam passed down to them. The image of God is restored in the creation of the new man when one is born again ~ per: Ephesians 4:24; Colossians 3:10; etc.
This gospel included the PROMISE of election that any who put their free will faith without any proof in the Son as their saviour from any sin would indeed be chosen to be saved from their sinfulness and would become HIS Bride. Any who rejected Him as their saviour by repudiating Him for any reason by faith, ie, without any proof of failure,
(Highlighted is done by me for discussion.)

This is one confused statement. You have created a definition for the word election, that is contrary to its meaning, but one that serves to support your corrupt understanding of the gospel of free justification by the obedience of Jesus Christ for God's elect.

What does the word election mean? It signifies to single out, to select, to choose, to take one and leave another. Election means that God has singled out certain ones to be the objects of His saving grace, while others are left to suffer the just punishment of their sins. It means that before the foundation of the world, God chose out of the mass of our humanity, a certain number and predestined them to be conformed to the image of His Son. "Simeon has declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name" (Act 15:14). We cannot do better than here amplify our definition of election by quoting from a sermon by the late C.H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) on "Things That Accompany Salvation": "Before Salvation came into this world, Election marched in the very forefront, and it had for its work the billeting of Salvation. Election went through the world and marked the houses to which Salvation should come and the hearts in which the treasure should be deposited. Election looked through all the race of man, from Adam down to the last, and marked with sacred stamp those for whom Salvation was designed. 'He must needs go through Samaria' (John 4:4) said Election; and Salvation must go there. Then came Predestination. Predestination did not merely mark the house, but it mapped the road in which Salvation should travel to that house. Predestination ordained every step of the great army of Salvation; it ordained the time when the sinner should be brought to Christ, the manner how he should be saved, the means that should be employed; it marked the exact hour and moment when God the Spirit should quicken the dead in sin, and when peace and pardon should be spoken through the blood of Jesus."
"would be enslaved by their sudden addiction to evil"~By nature men are born into this world servants to sin and the devil. It does not come on them sudden being addicted to sin, through rejecting Christ. You have invented a system that even false prophets in the pass would have trouble believing.
One false invention needs another one to cover the others ones!

Have you never read so much as this: Matthew 24:24....

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

It is impossible to totally deceive the very elect, cannot be done. As I said above, your understanding is strange/demonic.
I'm coming back after meeting~RB

Unconditional election is anathema to anyone who really understands God's election to salvation.
Do you people really mean "anathema"?
You believe that those who hold to "Particular Atonement" should be DAMNED!

I mean, the Reformers used some fiery rhetoric, but I thought we were past damning people for daring to "disagree with us".
