John Piper: Born again through faith in the gospel

Except if he does not believe he is not born again

1 Peter 1:23 (LEB) — 23 because you have been born again, not from perishable seed but imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

James 1:18 (LEB) — 18 By his will he gave birth to us through the message of truth, so that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

John 1:12–13 (LEB) — 12 But as many as received him—to those who believe in his name—he gave to them authority to become children of God, 13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a husband, but of God.
One has to be born again so they can believe the Gospel. BTW the Gospel isnt Christ died for everyone.

As a technical point of reference, something is that known by revelation of God doesn’t necessarily mean that what is revealed is believed by those to whom it has been revealed.

As has been pointed out already, the gospel is revealed by the preaching of the gospel. And preaching can be accepted or rejected, as we see in Acts 17 with Paul in Athens.

God must reveal the truth to all of us; one of the jobs of the Holy Spirit is to convict the world of sin, that is to reveal the reality of our standing with God! We are not born again at that point, and yet we know and understand the truth being revealed, and we are placed in the position of making a choice about what is revealed.

The Gospel will be rejected by the condemned lost, thats Gods purpose for sending them the Gospel. Its only a word of salvation to the born again saved. A savor of life unto life.

And like I said, you cannot demonstrate from scripture that I am wrong or that your view is correct. I only deny that your view is “apostolic doctrine”.

Doug
No it cant be demonstrated to you, that's Gods prerogative alone. I have given you my scripture witness and you have rejected it. Also even though the greek isnt the final authority for interpreting scripture, only scripture is 1 Cor 2:13-14

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Yet the greek doesnt help you at all

Thats because I agree with Jesus and the Apostles. :)
The Gospel has many details. Paul wrote this is the Gospel Gal 3:8

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Is this a different Gospel from 1 Cor 15:3-4 ? Please explain

nope its the good news about the Messiah which is all over the O.T.

yes. Agreed. The message.

One does not need to have written things in their hand to know what is there or to believe it hook, line and sinker.
One needs to know what the Gospel is as it is written in the scriptures. How can one believe and witness the Gospel if they dont know what it is scripturally ?

That Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. Didnt Christ die as a Surety of a Better Covenant ? Heb 7:22

By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament/covenant

How does that relate to this promise according to the scripture ? Lk 1:72-73

.
72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
Isa 42:6-7

6 I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Okay, its still hid to the lost. When God sends the Gospel to the Lost its for judgment and hardening and worsening their guilt. Its called to them, a savor of death unto death
Those lost even though the gospel is preached to them

2 Thessalonians 2:10 (LEB) — 10 and with every unrighteous deception against those who are perishing, in place of which they did not accept the love of the truth, so that they would be saved.

The Gospel is preached to the lost for the purpose of increasing their guilt and sin against God. However as a word of Salvation its sent to the saved, the regenerated.

So you are incapable of demonstrating scripturally why I’m wrong or that you are right…

I have given you my scripture witness and you have rejected it.
Because you are incapable of demonstrating why scripture supports your views.

Also even though the greek isnt the final authority for interpreting scripture, only scripture is 1 Cor 2:13-14…
The language and syntax thereof is necessarily inspired by God, for that is what determines the meaning of the original writers, and what guides the ability to translate the original text into other languages.

Without understanding of the Greek language of the time the Bible was written we have no basis to understand what it really means to say.

Yet the greek doesnt help you at all
If God inspires the language used, it is indispensable for anyone. Not understanding the Greek language is the ultimate nail in your coffin.

Before man is born again, he is dead in sin, no spiritual life, incapable of any spiritual activity. Believing the Gospel is Spiritual. The greek cant help you now

As usual you ignore scripture

John 3:16For in this way God loved the world, so that he gave his one and only Son, in order that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life.
Acts 16:31And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household!”
Rom 10:9–10that if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.
Eph 2:8–9For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
Mark 16:16The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who refuses to believe will be condemned.
Rom 1:16For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
John 20:31 (LEB) — 31 but these things are recorded in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
John 6:47 (LEB) — 47 Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes has eternal life.
Romans 10:9–10 (LEB) — 9 that if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.

Which shows salvation and life is given to those who believe
