HOW IS YOUR LOVE WALK?

There are so many misnomers running around about God and His love and what that looks like in regard to mankind. If anyone wants to know what God is like and what He thinks we need to look no further than Jesus and His teachings since He is the Eternal God who became man.

1– Jesus taught us to love our enemies and pray for them
2– Jesus lived among sinners, ate with them and loved them, had compassion on them.
3– Jesus loves sinners, not hates them
4– Jesus on the cross said please forgive them Father for they know not what they do- His enemies who hated Him at the time.
5– Jesus came to seek and save the lost, the sinner
6- Jesus showed us what love looks like, acts like, talks like, lives like and how it treats people.
7– Jesus told us all the law and commandments are wrapped up/fulfilled in loving God with all our being( heart, mind, soul ) and your neighbor as you do yourself.
8– Jesus said if you really love Him you will do what He has commanded
9Love is described perfectly in 1 Corinthians 13- If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails.
10Love in action in Galatians 5- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command.

Galatians 5:22-26
But the fruit of the Spirit is love
, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Ephesians 5:2
and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering to God.

Colossians 2:2
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

1 John 4
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Loving those who love you is not Gods love that is human love. Jesus said in Luke 6:32-33 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And indeed, if you do good to those doing good to you, what credit is it to you? For even sinners do the same. Luke 6:35- But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

1 John 4:20– If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

miseó: to hate

Original Word:
μισέω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: miseó
Phonetic Spelling: (mis-eh’-o)
Definition: to hate
Usage: I hate, detest, love less, esteem less. properly, to detest (on a comparative basis); hence, denounce; to love someone or something less than someone (something) else, i.e. to renounce one choice in favor of another.

Love covers a multitude of sins, it doesn’t expose sin.

1 Peter 4:8- Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
Proverbs 10:12- Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all transgressions.
Proverbs 16:28- A perverse man spreads dissension, and a gossip divides close friends.
Proverbs 17:9- Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Love forgives as it’s been Forgiven.

Colossians 3:12-17

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Ephesians 4:26-32
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

conclusion
: because God is Love and Jesus is God we can see to perfection that 1 Cor 13 and the fruit of the spirit in Gal 5:22-23 describes Jesus to a tee . He is love incarnate since God is love we see Him in action described in the gospels and where the Bible defines love.

Here's just some thoughts and meditations of prayer to God on LOVE that I made up. None of us are perfect but feeding this way of thinking into our spirits can keep us in a good place.

I rejoice in the Lord always and again I do rejoice. The Almighty God Jesus and the Holy Spirit does live and abide in me granting me victory over all my problems and trials. I can do all things through Christ and through his anointing power which strengthens me. I think faith love thoughts and I speak faith love words. I seek to make my words loveable, peaceable, kind and full of grace and mercy at all times! I let no corrupt communication proceed out of my mouth but I speak only words which edify build up and encourage. And I cease from strife in it's every form for the love of God constrains me and I follow peace with all men!

I refuse to enter into a spirit of division and I will not embrace any ill will strife or offence towards any one! And I seek to I keep such things out of my spirit and mind at all times. I seek to believe the best of all people and not the worse.. I shake off any offense or root of bitterness. I walk rather in LOVE and forgiveness at all times. . I'll walk in the joy of the Lord at all times. The Lord perfects that which concerns me. I cast down wrong imaginations and every high thing which exalts itself against the word of God. I hold fast to the mind of Christ God's way of doing things and I say that I have perfect peace. I always remember the King story where Jesus forgave the one with the great debt and I therefore quickly and without hesitation forgive anyone of the sins they've sinned against me. I forgive therefore I am forgiven. I endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. I show forbearance towards everyone.

Here's a thought which is humorous in a way (not to be taken seriously but it does make a point.

If you have a hard time forgiving someone just remember that you can't expect everyone to be as perfect as you are right? Cut people some slack and allow them the liberty of falling short of perfection. Not everyone can be as without fault like you are!

Of course my real point is ALL OF US blow it, make mistakes and need God's mercy! None of us are without need of that! Freely we receive forgiveness from the Lord and freely we need to give it out too. God Bless!
