How Calvin justified persecuting his opponents

What does that actually mean?

The apostles were slated for death by disobeying the laws of man.

More?

2Co 11:16 I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
2Co 11:17 That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
2Co 11:18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
2Co 11:19 For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
2Co 11:20 For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.
2Co 11:21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
2Co 11:22 Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
2Co 11:23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
2Co 11:24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
2Co 11:25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
2Co 11:26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
2Co 11:27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
2Co 11:28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
2Co 11:29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
2Co 11:30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
2Co 11:31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
2Co 11:32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
2Co 11:33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.
Just the opposite of Calvin

Hmmmm

Such as........when Paul says to obey the laws of tge land was he referring to the laws of men?
as long as they don't oppose the teachings of Christ. Like render to Ceasar what is Ceasars. :)

thou shall not kill
thou shall not commit adultery
love your neighbor as yourself
do not return evil for evil
love your enemies and pray for them

just to name a few that we are to obey regardless of the laws of the land.

So which of those did Calvin break? Heresy was a capital offense in Geneva.

Why certainly. Only YOU could imagine otherwise.

The issue is what those laws demand. I stop at stop signs. I wait in traffic. I pay my taxes. When the "laws of the land" contradict the moral character of God, then I have no ethical/moral/rational obligation to quote "obeying the laws of the land" as a reason to ignore God.

I know you're rather simple. I know that is too complicated a position for you to actually understand.

Maybe "Go to the ant hill thou sluggard......" will make sense to you? A "slug" should at least understand his limited capabilities.

I thought you didn't know Calvin? Which is it? You can't keep this lie you have going "straight" can you......

So do tell, tell all about Calvin's life.

You do realize this will not work when you face God right? This "I know but I don't know"..... "You don't know".... nonsense you have going here.

Like Israel, who denied murdering Christ because they didn't actually drive the nails in His hands and the spear in His side....

People like YOU.... enjoyed the death of Servetus. You would have done it yourself. In your very being/essence, you are no different than Israel and how they made the same arguments as you're making.

Act 7:51 “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.
Act 7:52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whom you have now betrayed and murdered,

Saul/Paul once did the same things you're doing now. He had reasons/justifications in his own mind for rightfully murdering Stephen.

You're no different. You're pretending. Separating your heart from your own mind as if they are two different things.

Maybe pay attention to....

Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

If you would do it..... if you had the opportunity to do it, you're actually guilt of doing it in your heart. You are what you desire.

Maybe you haven't learned that lesson yet in your old age.
