Heretics adept at quoting Scripture?

Agreed. True teaching is not pushed.

Scripture is truth. You speak it or write it, and it has whatever effect God determines it to have.

One of my pet peeves is that some here take scripture and run it through their notion of who God is, and re-interpret the scripture to match their a-priori assumption. And one method of doing that is to ignore the context.

They become the context...

It always made me wonder. How?

How those who push false teachings are ready to construct Scriptural rationales using chapters and verse.
Obviously.. It does not take the Holy Spirit to memorize Scripture to create false doctrines.
It does not take regeneration! They do not have to be Spirit led.

Look how this man does it without God ... ..

So maybe you would prefer that they use the Quran to construct their rationale? Obviously, if they use the scripture to push false teachings, it's easy to spot the parts that are false, because we can see how they misinterpreted those parts or misquoted them, etc. In fact, pretty much every false teaching comes from a twisting of the scripture, so you're not really giving us any new information here, that we didn't already know. So what's your point?

The point was....

That Muslim is not regenerate.
He does not have the indwelling Holy Spirit..

Have him born into a Christian family and acclimated to the churchianity culture?

Hand him a Bible?
And, with his "natural" ability?
And, he would be preaching no different than a typical Christian legalist using Scripture.

Just wanted some here to be aware that they are not fooling anyone just because they cite Scripture.
Ha....well you've got to be careful about that. One can give a good solid defense and it can be so easy to say "You're not fooling me! I don't care what verses you've quoted" rejecting points they've made are valid. That can be arrogant pride.

Presumption is sin.

No sense arguing then.

Then why do you presume that people will understand your posts, when you don't explain yourself? Who's presuming and what are they presuming? And why are they sinning when they presume that? I don't believe all presumption is sin but some can be.

I simply said this...

Just wanted some here to be aware that they are not fooling anyone just because they cite Scripture.

And, you went to this?

As if what I said applied to all who quote Scripture?

Here is an example of what I spoke about...

Kenneth Copeland quotes Scripture with great confidence.

Well? Yet he is not fooling anyone who knows sound doctrine.

..........

heretic is an odd phrase used to bully souls.

it simply means sect...

the real enemy is esau
who infiltrates and tricks jacob

Actually... Jacob tricked Esau out of his birthright.

That is why the name Jacob means supplanter.

So how do we know whether YOU are one of those fooling everyone by citing scripture??

That is the corollary of your own statement, and the question you beg!

"Beg the question" can mean two things.

1. Beg for or expect an answer to the question
2. Say the question has already been answered (this is the formal definition)

Which do you mean?

There is no way to be as certain as you desire.
Our walk is not to be a mathematical formula.

Even Satan in the Garden found a way to manipulate a simple command of God that even a five year old could understand...

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law." Gal 5:18

Our security in Christ should not be in receiving a great deal of approval from people....
We need to seek and keep growing by grace and knowledge to reach that place in our lives.

As some desire to achieve.. getting better at perfecting our defense of our pet doctrines offers no growth in God's life.
That is only seeking human security.

If you can not figure it out today? Keep on growing in truth by grace.
Those who truly seek. Seek in humility, will find themselves finding truth as they could not have anticipated.

grace and peace ............
