Acts 9:6,
- and Paul trembling and astonished said Lord what wilt thou have me to do, and the Lord said,
- Arise and go into the city and it shall be told thee what thou must do
The meaning of this Greek word dei is: it is inevitable
The word expresses obligation, duty.
In the context of the verse must is the sovereign will of God.
This command from Jesus to Paul is Gods predetermined plan for Paul, therefore essential.
Would anyone be so bold as to disagree that Paul must do whatever Jesus has commanded Paul to do?
Whether you know it or not must is always essential when God is giving the command.
Acts 9:15,
- but the Lord said unto him,
Go thy way for he(Paul) is a chosen vessel unto Me to bear My name before the gentiles and Kings and the children of Israel,
for I will shew him how great things he must suffer for My names sake
Paul must become Jesus' apostle.
Anyone disagree that this is essential give your argument below with book, chapter and verse.
Paul must go into all the world and preach the gospel to kings, Jews and Gentiles.
Anyone one disagree let it be known.
Paul's ministry His apostleship is not negotiable with God.
Paul must do these things. Paul has no personal choice in the matter if he desires to please God.
What would be the consequences for Paul if he chose not to obey Jesus?
Note: You know by my question I'm not a hard lined calvanist.
Does anyone disagree that Paul's apostleship and personal ministry is not essential to God?
What say ye?
Acts 16:30,
- and he brought them out and said, Sirs what must I do to be saved
Must is essential. Agree or disagree? What say ye?
