Warnings by Reformers using ChatGPT

In reflecting on the use of ChatGPT, the Free Reformed ministers asked themselves: “Does this mean that ChatGPT could write a sermon? What if a minister was to give the right parameters to ChatGPT and it spits out an objectively more biblical, reformed, redemptive-historical and Christ-centred sermon than the one the minister worked all week on… how to think through that….?”

The Free Reformed ministers conclude that the answer is No, and they give the reason why: “The nature of preaching in addressing and the illuminating work of the Spirit in understanding the Word of God, can’t be generated by AI. This is true for the preparation and the preaching of God’s Holy Word. ChatGPT can never prayerfully prepare a sermon like ministers do.”

So many sermons are just, to put it mildly, not that good. I would even go so far as to say even bad, uninspired and with false statements.

The truth is truth, regardless of who says it, even if a donkey says it. I've seen an atheist be convicted debating ChatGPT because truth was there.

Realize that ChatGPT does not really do any original thinking. All it does it is repackage and rearrange sermons and data that it finds.

It is carrying the presence of Christ, the revelation from God, the purity of heart, and discernment of the Spirit, that ChatGPT cannot do.

Your last paragraph is my point which we agree upon.

Realize what AI does, it takes massive data, mostly all data from the internet, thus with all its truths and untruths and filters what is most common and that is the result. Horrible....

agreed !

its a poor substitute for God yet many rely on AI instead of personal bible study, guidance from the Holy Spirit and having a daily relationship with God spent in His word and prayer.

And the rest is still true, lol.
Let's put this to the test since you have Logos and Accordance @Dizerner and show me where it is error.

Genesis 1:1
Hebrew:

Genesis 1:3
Hebrew:

Transliteration:

וַיְהִי Waw-consec + Verb Qal Impf 3ms Narrative verb and there was
אוֹר Noun ms Subject complement light
Translation:
“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

Summary Notes:
Verbs in Genesis 1:3 use waw-consecutive forms (וַיֹּאמֶר, וַיְהִי) introducing narrative action—this distinguishes them from the perfect tense בָּרָא in 1:1, which presents the primordial act.

יְהִי is a Qal jussive—a form of volition (“Let there be...”), not simply a future tense.

מְרַחֶפֶת in 1:2 is Piel participle feminine singular from רָחַף, indicating intensive or repeated action ("was fluttering" or "hovering")—a verb only used twice in the Hebrew Bible (cf. Deut. 32:11).

The use of הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ is a verbless clause with predicate nominatives, describing a state of desolation or disorder, not chaos in the mythological sense.

A simplified, condensed reading of this verse, do you see anything different in Logos or Accordance? We can go deeper--

Johann.

It was great! So glad he won.
Same here it was a long time coming to get the monkey off his back and now all his critics have nothing to say anymore. :) And it was great to see all of the Augusta fans were behind him cheering him on throughout the round.

I agree. if we are to lazy we have to use AI to get a sermon or teaching done. we are in the wrong field.

We should also set aside the ISMS.. Most people do not logically follow all ISMS.. and when we try to put people under and ISM. we will undoubtedly misrepresent them at one time or another.

Yes I'm not in any particular ism since my deconstruction from calvinism. I mean if you take away tulip and PSA I could still be a calvinist. :ROFLMAO:

It was. It was a great watch. I like Justin Rose, but not yesterday.

same here after the putt on 18 he missed I had deja vu. He made up for it in the playoff though. It sure was a roller coaster ride on the back 9. I never seen anything like it in any major before. One for the ages. Even Jack when he was interviewed said the same thing.

On a side note I got hooked on pickleball 3 weeks ago. I was a competetive table tennis player in tournaments 30 years ago and an intermediate tennis player. Its a fun game. I'm playing 3-5 days a week after work
